My dermatologist is incredibly reliable and a respected professional, but she just took 1 look at me and prescribed
    1) Epiduo (Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide )
    2) Clindamycin
    3) Oral Hormonal Therapy
    4) Blood Tests to change Hormonal Therapy to a stronger one (the Pill) if needed
WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION, I wish she told me what these products are supposed to be doing.
Thank you for your explanation, now I understand I need to be patient with redness, irritation, itching, peeling etc, as they’re a normal part of healing!! :D

meena mee Hi Meena, we are all different but for me my diet was the culprit. I did an elimination diet called the Whole 30 for a month then I transitioned to Paleo. Basically I cut out dairy, grains and sugar. I think dairy mostly added to my acne trouble. Acne was so frustrating for me, it got super bad after I had my first baby but thankfully the diet cleared me up after years of trying all the topical creams. I wish you so much luck on your journey.

Hmm this is somewhat confusing on the retinoid section. It's mentioned and it's true that retinoids have to be converted to retinoic acid but the examples given I believe aren't part of that situation. Tretinoin is already bioactive retinoic acid. Adapalene and Tazarotene are both third generation retinoids that are already bioactive even though they're not retinoic acid, but they do bind to the same sites. I was hoping to get some information on what the key differences are in the pharmacology between tretinoin and adapalene.

PLEASE don't take accutane!!!!( I took only 20 mg but even low dose was bad)
I am very grateful I became aware early of the side effects in my second round of accutane which was 1 year after the first round. In the first round I took accutane for 5 months on low dose for mild/ moderate acne. It drys your body organs and has caused me mild Fatty Liver Disease(which I caught on early), irregular periods, a fibroadenoma which I have mistaken for malignancy and caused huge pain and anxiety for months.
Alternative: Get an estrogen test and your doctor will prescribe supplements to balance your hormone levels, which in turn will clear up your face even better than accutane. I WISH I had known all of this earlier😭

    • @SpeedPharmacology
      @SpeedPharmacology  4 года назад +1

      P. acnes is part of our skin's natural microbiome. Some but not all strains of the bacteria promote acne-causing inflammation. P. acnes colonizes primarily sebaceous glands and hair follicles but it may also be found in the mouth, nares, genitourinary tract, and large intestine. It is able to recolonize quickly after a round of antibiotics.

I would recommend this acne guide *AcneCureOnline. Com* to anyone who is suffering from discovering the right acne remedies on their own. Our family is suffering from acne since then and I have tried different acne treatments. Luckily, with the help of this impressive guide, acne was cured and development was halted. .

Minocycline is often prescribed for acne.Whether it's appropriate option for you, it's something that you would have to discuss with your dermatologist.

@saurabhpanigrahi5429 hello, yes I still have acne but mostly caused by hormonal changes before my period and not as severe like those years ago. I actually not sure what made it dissapeared. Few things happen at them same time. I moved out to a different city (some people believe water and air can cause acne), I am no longer depressed, I drink some supplements, I go out more often (some people says sun is good for skin just not too much and always remember suncreen). I was actually almost free acne when I moved to different city. And then I move in with my parent again (it is so challenging to live with them) and my acne started to shows again despite still consuming the same supplements but not as worst as before (no acne on my scalp anymore). So I start using retinol, in my case it really help but make sure you use facial wash and moisturizer that already suit your skin because if not the retinol only would make the acne worst.

Mhm. So retinoids just unplug the follicle via pushing new cells from behind. Based on this I thought if you had psoriasis (which is characterized by quick maturation of keratinocytes) you would make everything worse if you used retinoids. I googled and I am wrong, actually it's even a treatment vs psoriasis. Anyone know why? Is it like a "restart" for the keratinocytes?

As far as I know the exact molecular mechanism by which retinoids are able to exert their effects on psoriasis is unknown. However, in psoriatic keratinocytes retinoids appear to produce antiproliferative effects, normalize abnormal differentiation, and decrease expression of inflammatory markers

But they also speed up skin turnover, which seems beneficial for someone dealing with this skin disorder as it would help prevent the buildup of skin layers. (?). It also normalizes things, which would also be helpful for preventing psoriasis-I would think.

This is so good and informative. Great video, clear and aesthetically pleasing lol.. I wanted to know what I was putting on my face. I’m confident benzoyl peroxide/ doxycycline combo + tarazotene the dr prescribed along with healthy lifestyle changes for hormonal regulation (and prayer lol) will cure my acne! 🙏🏾
