So if the federal reserve has unlimited power to print as much digital currency as they please, why do they need to tax the people in the first place? I'm a part of the gig economy, and I file as self employed. Every year, I pay about $4,000 in self employment tax. Yet the IRS, confirmes every year that I'm eligible for over $10,000 in tax credits for this or that reason. Let me be clear, i don't send them a dime. They write me a check for roughly 10 grand every year. Consider this, I have never paid out of pocket for taxes outside a W-2 form of employment.
Its not always irrational to want higher taxes. You have to pay for government services somehow. And your expenses could go down, for example if you funded medicare for all. Yes taxes go up, but health expenses are half. So you pay less overall.
My original comment in a RUclips friendly way since we said in today’s livestream that I may have been blocked by RUclips: I think it’s “bad” to raise taxes in peacetime. Period. Peacetime should be for paying off our debt, and gradually LOWERING taxes once the debt is paid off. The entire reason income tax was created was to pay off “battle-time” debt. Now that we have established that democrats always raise taxes and love needless spending, we have to address the other side of the coin. The republicans always lower taxes when we are TENS OF TRILLIONS in debt. Just as I think taxes should never be raised in peacetime, I believe taxes should never be lowered when we are in debt. Especially when the tax breaks help the rich much more than working and lower class. All in all, I am hopeful that the DOGE will get us to a budget surplus for possibly the first time in decades. Our tax dollars have been squandered on interest payments for far too long

My rent went up because my landlords property tax went up.
Happening to me in Michigan bc of the same type of a tax increase .
Democrats in local, state, and federal government are all trying to raise taxes---that's what they always want to do.
Yes and my state is still under Democrat leadership. Unfortunately.@@tawsifanam
