All things aside, Jake dominated every aspect of the fight.
Cro_Core especially the slapping and head butting and generally being a douche. Yah he definitely dominated.
Tyler Elson cmon man...jake controlled the whole fight, got the mount multiple times and aj could not better his position. Aj's takedowns are nice tho
Um, Jake head butted as well. Lot of bad blood and it's too bad. This isn't WWE nor what UFC is becoming. Grappling is a martial art and there should be more respect than this. Shields has more fans from MMA that see him differently, but this display was Disgraceful by both.

Bitch, Dan KO'd his next three opponents and then beat Shogun. Dan Henderson KO'd Hector Lombard like six years after the Jake fight. Talking like Dan was over the hill when Jake won, the reality is that Dan was coming off of the Bisping KO and went to Strikeforce only to get ruined by Jake Shields, who was leaving. It's good that some of us know things, or idiots like you would think their opinions weren't total bullshit.

Jake Shields always showed sportsmanship and respect at Grapplers Quest and every other event I've ever seen him at, as a humble and honorable fighter and athlete. He is a professional athlete and MMA fighter competing in a grappling tournament. He was struck, poked in the eye, and head butted enough for this to easily have been a DQ. We are fans, promoters and competitors too. Please make sure your referees do not allow or tolerate this type of lack of sportsmanship or allowable rules infractions, because "he sold a lot of tickets" or "has a huge social media following" or "he runs or trains at a huge school", the rules of any respectable organization must be followed at all times without fear of consequences from outliers. We must remember that we are martial artists first, the sport should reflect the same moral code.

I certainly love me some high-level Jitz, but this is a pretty solid showcase as to why I always prefer watching MMA. We've got two dudes who clearly want to beat the everliving shit out of eachother, but they're stuck within the confines of the BJJ ruleset. Both of these guys are MMA fighters as well. When there's this much animosity on the line, the cage inherently offers a much more appealing conclusion to a rivalry.
And while I respect his talent, it's always satisfying to see AJ's ego knocked down a notch or two.

This was a submission only match. In other tournaments, they would have scored by passing guard, getting to full mount, etc. But in this one there is no scoring. It's either a draw or somebody gets submitted.

It is disgusting seeing the referees not doing their job. AJ fought a lousy match with lots of dirty tricks in the sleeve and he should have been DQed for that. Mr. Shields did a good job and made a fantastic fight, controlling every aspect of the fight. So he should be declared the winner.

I HATE draws in grappling.... if theres no scoring criteria, theres no point. Most of these great grapplers cannot consistently submit eachother. There needs to be scoring.
