Thank you for the video. Personally, I think it depends on what exactly you want to try. If it's learning to play an instrument, then that's not going to be a problem for anybody, even if it doesn't work out the way you'd like. Publishing video's goes in a similar direction. So congratulations on taking that step, if you found it difficult. To me it's also important to ask "what is a likely outcome, if it does fail?". I believe this question is needed and has nothing to do with perfectionism. If you want to try out making soap for example, the worst thing in that case can lead to injuries. So proper caution is required. Trying to play with chemicals like a little child, who is not yet aware of danger, is something very few would want to do. Normally people get information first and learn about what precautions are sensible, before starting with a dangerous hobby. Skydiving is another hobby that needs preparation. Children don't DO either. They get into enough situations that may be dangerous to them, even without that. But no responsible parent would take a two-year-old along to skydiving or allow the child anywhere close to dangerous chemicals, much less let them make soap. Also, as far as I noticed, children, who did notice something was dangerous, don't repeat that. My nephew went on a frozen pond in the middle of winter and fell through the ice. His parents only saw him return soaked, at least. And I'm pretty sure, he went home straight away after getting out of the pond. And didn't try that again, as long as he remembered it. I agree that children can stubbornly try again and again. But I do think it too depends on, what they are aware of could happen and what they believe is likely to happen. They just aren't that aware yet of dangerous consequences. Sometimes, even if a bad outcome is likely, I still consider it worth a try. It does depend on what consequences are likely and how many people it will affect. Sometimes, people don't realise that some consequences can have a domino effect. Information can be like that. A broken water pipe is not as bad as a broken gas pipe. Those can explode. I don't know if the explosion can travel through the pipe too. But if it can, that would make it a domino-effect danger. If you end up with both a broken water and gas pipe, which one will you look after first? A single mistake when building a brake into a car is dangerous to the ones, who buy this specific car. But a mistake in the construction building, which results in a 50/50 chance of the brake being build in wrongly, is a danger to a lot of people. My point is: Fear is one thing. But being careless is just the opposite extrem and just as bad. I do want medical personal to be perfectionist. Because health is delicate. If a song-writer is perfectionist, I don't care. If a baker makes a mistake: as long as it's still edible OR not sold, fine with me. If someone, who works in an atomic power plant, is like "ohh, I don't know what will happen when I push this button, so let's try it out, so I can learn...", I'll have HUGE issues with that one. And I believe others in the area will have issues with this too, because they could get exploded too. I do not consider having issues with such carelessness and lack of sensible precautions, to be cowardice. No matter how much others call it "fear". Then again, I do like to try new things, so I'm not sure I understand the "fear of starting something new". I'd still go for getting information first on new hobbies, so I know where to start. But that's just my personal preference.

For me, there are times that i want to learn something new like cooking, my mom is good in cooking and some of my relatives from her side like her sister (my aunt) and her 4 kids are already independent while for me, i'm always dependent on my mom whenever it comes to something new because i'm afraid that I didn't do it properly and ends up making tons of mistake. There are times that I feel jealous or somewhat angry because from my aunt and her 4 kids are already ahead of me and more knowledgeable at the same time. Other times, i feel like i haven't done a proper job at accomplishing anything which makes me feel disappointed. One time, I would talk about this to my mom and she says that I'm doing good, I just need to practice and become confident with whatever that I need to do. Therefore, I should feel grateful to myself and be proud of whatever accomplishments that I did. I really want to learn various hobbies such as cooking, drawing, learn an instrument, learn another sports etc. I feel the same way girl, you encourage me to do it and keep on practising. 🥰 Also, congrats on that silver play button. 🤗

I have been thinking about opening a youtube channel/ Instagram account for at least a couple of years but perfectionism and fear of not being enough always stopped me until finally in September I opened my Instagram account theskinempath. I said to myself that no matter what.. at least I tried. I am still trying very hard to make aesthetically pleasing but also very informative content. It is not easy, specially when you don't get feedback from anybody and you don't have many followers. Sometimes I feel I am failing but I am not gonna give up. Wish you all the best.

They just aren't that aware yet of dangerous consequences.
Sometimes, even if a bad outcome is likely, I still consider it worth a try. It does depend on what consequences are likely and how many people it will affect. Sometimes, people don't realise that some consequences can have a domino effect. Information can be like that. A broken water pipe is not as bad as a broken gas pipe. Those can explode. I don't know if the explosion can travel through the pipe too. But if it can, that would make it a domino-effect danger.
If you end up with both a broken water and gas pipe, which one will you look after first?
A single mistake when building a brake into a car is dangerous to the ones, who buy this specific car. But a mistake in the construction building, which results in a 50/50 chance of the brake being build in wrongly, is a danger to a lot of people.
My point is: Fear is one thing. But being careless is just the opposite extrem and just as bad. I do want medical personal to be perfectionist. Because health is delicate. If a song-writer is perfectionist, I don't care. If a baker makes a mistake: as long as it's still edible OR not sold, fine with me. If someone, who works in an atomic power plant, is like "ohh, I don't know what will happen when I push this button, so let's try it out, so I can learn...", I'll have HUGE issues with that one. And I believe others in the area will have issues with this too, because they could get exploded too.
I do not consider having issues with such carelessness and lack of sensible precautions, to be cowardice. No matter how much others call it "fear". Then again, I do like to try new things, so I'm not sure I understand the "fear of starting something new". I'd still go for getting information first on new hobbies, so I know where to start. But that's just my personal preference.

For me, there are times that i want to learn something new like cooking, my mom is good in cooking and some of my relatives from her side like her sister (my aunt) and her 4 kids are already independent while for me, i'm always dependent on my mom whenever it comes to something new because i'm afraid that I didn't do it properly and ends up making tons of mistake. There are times that I feel jealous or somewhat angry because from my aunt and her 4 kids are already ahead of me and more knowledgeable at the same time. Other times, i feel like i haven't done a proper job at accomplishing anything which makes me feel disappointed.
One time, I would talk about this to my mom and she says that I'm doing good, I just need to practice and become confident with whatever that I need to do. Therefore, I should feel grateful to myself and be proud of whatever accomplishments that I did.
I really want to learn various hobbies such as cooking, drawing, learn an instrument, learn another sports etc.

I stumbled randomely on this video but this is what I also needed to hear. Thank you. I have been thinking about opening a youtube channel/ Instagram account for at least a couple of years but perfectionism and fear of not being enough always stopped me until finally in September I opened my Instagram account theskinempath. I said to myself that no matter what.. at least I tried. I am still trying very hard to make aesthetically pleasing but also very informative content. It is not easy, specially when you don't get feedback from anybody and you don't have many followers. Sometimes I feel I am failing but I am not gonna give up. Wish you all the best.

Perfectionism and fear can be challenging to overcome, but taking that first step is often the hardest part. I had a look at your page and wow! you are really good at what you do.
