i'm from philly and it the ptc trolley and it 's from 60's around 1970 septa took over. ptc is for Philadelphia transportation company, now septa is southeastern transpotation authority.
Managed to ride on the SEPTA PCC Frankfort line before it was converted to trolley bus. SEPTA rolls them out for riders on special occasions.
Good demo, James. Here a few facts about the Presidential Conference Committee car. The car was named for its creation reason. It was designed by the higher ups of several streetcar companies to be a faster and smoother riding car. The PCC is different than a streetcar in that it is all electric. An older streetcar made between the 1890's and 1930's would have air running the brakes and whistle. A PCC is run all by the 600 volts DC overhead. The trolley pole (not pantograph) takes in that power and does a lot of funky stuff that I can't quite explain, and allows the car to operate.
Nice review. Too bad about those awful simulated passengers and driver. You might accept it with the N-scale version, the HO- scale version is quite another story. The looks and scale accuracy seem fine, the motor noise and no interior details are simply not acceptable anymore. Bachman should do their homework again. If it would be available for $50 max it might be acceptable but the retail price of $225 is absolutely outrageous. Reards, Willem.
Interesting effects there.
Ron's Trains N Things I need a new phone number xander 😌😫😮😯 the only reason I am not sure what the same day I will be the best day for us if it was the only reason I ask is the same day as I have to go back to work the next couple weeks and my 🚷 mkkkk to get a hold the power the doctor said that he will get back home to go back in I can say we should get together to go get it in a hold the power to go back
Okay so that sparking pantograph makes it completely worth the price.
Jonathan woodbury No, its still a Bachman.. If they really wen't to town they would of COMPLEATLY redesigned this streetcar that is probably about 30 years old.. At least get rid of the 1970's shadow figures, while they are at it, put in an interior.. The flashing pole attracts your attention and signals here comes the over priced, outdated Bachmann TOY... Which compared to what is available out there today for roughly the same price, this is a very expensive piece of Bachmann junk.
that's not a pantograph. It's called a trolley pole.
The bell is nice, but most PCC's had a horn. Some might have had a trolley-style single-note whistle. I hate when manufacturers dont do their research.
Those are tail lights, not marker lights. By the time of the PCC, a streetcar had to have the same safety equipment--headlight, tail lights, a horn, required for any other motorized street vehicle.
NJT Newark PCC’s had a bell and a horn.
F2 sounds like the sound when someone presses something in the streetcar to indicate to the conductor to stop at the next scheduled stop. Like a transit bus.
great video like always
I want to see the new Bachmann ho class j soon when it comes out.
PCCs are not busses. They may look like it, but they are not. PTC stands for Philadelphia Traction Co., which is the predecessor to SEPTA.
Awesome man!
GREAT !
Trolleys have trolley poles, not pantographs.
nice streetcar
Cool....when is Bachmann going to get Ho Scale Halloween stuff?? James!?!?
Cool street car.. thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.. Lance 🚂👍👍👍
Nice
Bringing back the old paper cut-outs for people like the old passenger cars.
What does this unit do on just DC?
more N gauge reviews please.....!!!!! Otherwise thanks for the great reviews.
Horribly Oversized
No no no.... dont ever call that a bus again!
What’s the minimum radius A pic streetcar will run on
I like the light effect on the pole, but that sound is pretty cartoonish.
Is that streetcar named Desire?
how do you get the pantograph to spark and the lights to go on?
dont throw it against the wall, I can tell ya that work out well.
I have the njt version
Purrs like a kitten at 4:16!
How can this be a useful to anyone "trolley demo" if you don't put it on any tight radius trolley track curves (6" radius) to verify it actually goes around?
I thought pcc cars had 3 sets of doors
The Chicago PCC cars haf them
The cartoon silhouettes really detract from realism, makes it look more like a toy than a model... only thing it has going for it is, the sparking pole....
septa street car
THATS NOT A BUS
ok....septa guy here...the beep or chirp...non existent on s pcc...this is tge same bachnan shell thsts been around scince the 80s...u could by them then for $12..of course non dcc...the interior lighting and sparking aspect very nice...the motor sounds nothing like a pcc...Bowser has a better model
If they really wen't to town they would of COMPLEATLY redesigned this streetcar that is probably about 30 years old.. At least get rid of the 1970's shadow figures, and while they are at it, put in an interior.. The flashing out of scale pole only attracts your attention and signals here comes the over priced, outdated Bachmann TOY... Which compared to what is available out there for roughly the same price, this is an expensive Bachmann piece of junk.. You might as well buy a new Blackberry and sit in the 90's.
No traction motor sound or squeely brakes. What a bad choice of sound effects for a Electric loco by Bachmann and Soundtraxx. No windows no interior. How cheep can they get. Kids toys have more detail and effort put into them. The price is outrageous for a poor toy at that.
