An idea to make introducing more queens into the colony in a way that would minimise aggression is to put the queen in a little container with a plug of fondant icing so that the workers have to eat their way in to the queen, which would make her seem less like an intruder.
It’s cool that you’re trying to add new genes but in the wild they do inbreeding already on a mass scale right so wouldn’t that not make much difference? Also love the new intro video you should put it because it looks like something new and exciting. And lastly if they keep having to get more and more setups why wouldn’t you put them in a large terrarium or just a very large diy formicarium that is just partially closed off until they can grow a bit. That’s all from me for today D colony hope you have an amazing day may good luck find you at every corner!
Their inbreeding in the wild buddy but they're also accepting new queen's from nuptial flight to keep their colony healthier, that's why we did it here too cause they have no means to recruit on captivity. I am planning to make them a bigger one in the future buddy 🫡
Could you do a bio active terrarium build video? This is because I have a colony that urgently needs relocating to a larger setup as it is growing harder and harder to feed them. And I have a 15 gallon aquarium to put them in but don’t know what would be the optimal plants, dirt type, rocks or other things such as this
You can't move a colony to a newly planted terrarium buddy, you need a couple of months for the plants to established or they will end up dying. I will upload a video of building a small bio active ant farm in 2 to 3 weeks buddy, depending on my available free time to edit.
My carpenter ant queen that I have been raising the past couple weeks finally had her first set of workers after weeks of not checking on them I felt like I needed to look into them to see the progress and when I checked the queen had decent amounts of eggs and 4 worker ants at this stage what do you recommend feeding it? Should I continue feeding her and her workers honey or proteins? I'm inexperienced when it comes to raising ants and this is the first time that the queen I've caught successfully made it in this stage and I feel happy cuz I might be able to raise a proper colony from scratch
First of all, Congratulations buddy I just remember how great that feeling is. You can immediately feed them with a drop of honey , or you can also wait for all the cocoons or pupae of the whole 1st batch to emerge as workers before feeding. Feed them every 3 to 4 days buddy, lessen the protein feeding if there's not so many larvae.
Yes for the build🎉

I'm here for the build😊

Now! That's we call aggressive ants, swarming even their coworker 😮

Dude - I love your approach to ant keeping and I love your videos. Please keep them coming!
Thanks, will do buddy!
Interesting and also scary, like you say you're containing them as the colony will fill any nest you give them 🤯
I'm really scared of them breaking out buddy, my other pet ants will be in great danger. 😱
Yes pls do the building video
Will do buddy, thanks! 🫡

Thanks a lot bud! 🫡
@@Dcolony :)
i say next move make huge nest that like 10x the size of all of them so they can have 1 big nest
That's cool buddy, but I don't want to give them too much space for now . 🫡
@@Dcolony yea totally understand
I really wanna keep this species of ants but since it doesn't live in my country I can't keep it
You're still lucky in a way buddy, since this ant specie is a hardcore pest, and they're unstoppable. They keep coming back.
How To Make The Ants Less Agressive Tho?
Ants are generally aggressive inside their territory, but We made sure that they're well fed buddy to reduce their aggressiveness toward the queen's.
Day 1 of asking D colony to do another ant war
🫡
didnt you say they are inbreeding so why add more queens
To increase the colonies gene pool, and make them healthier buddy,
Please feed them mice and other animals as food.
That would be great buddy, lemme see if I can get them on a pet shop soon.
First. D colony can you please tell me a city in the Philippines that carebara diversa live
I'm not sure in Visayas and Mindanao buddy, but I believe they can be found most of rice fields or near a forest in Luzon.
