    I would highly recommend using Scotch 2228 Mastic Tape around a suspension fork before wrapping the stays around. This will really hold everything in place. I Have it on my carbon MTB bars that holds my Timber bell FIRMLY in place. Same for anything you don't want to spin on any type of a bar. Plus, it TOTALLY protects the bar from scratches. Thanks for the review!

    ortlieb now makes an adapter for these kinds of angled eyelets on the fork. 45 to 30 degrees adapter.

    I'm trying to figure out how to attach such mount to a fork that only has dropout and lowrider mounts. Ortlieb's website implies that the band clamps are not recommended for forks with tapered tubes. Guessing gravity would eventually pull them down and loose.
    Same problem trying to mount Outershell Adventures bags as well.

    Russ, great review as usual, but leave it Ortlieb to over complicate the install process (and I'm saying that from nearly 15 years of Ortlieb use!). Their products are truly bombproof, but they love some over engineering.

    • @rachavya
      @rachavya 3 года назад

      @@PathLessPedaledTV I must be strange. To me, Ortlieb's versatile attachment hardware is completely intuitive, requiring a minimum of parts. In the case where you're mounting to a shock, the same screws that attach the big plastic part are the same ones that tension the clamp -- brilliant.

    Hey Russ, thanks so much for your channel!!
    I want to carry my (small) tent on one side and my air mattress+ on the other. I see that these bags are about 4 litres, but I wonder...
    ** How big that is in a practical sense??
    I bought Problem Solvers' Bow Tie brackets, but I haven't put them to the test, yet.
    ** How you think this Ortlieb system would compare to random dry bags w/the Bow Tie brackets + straps??
    Any relevant feedback will be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Russ, I am really interested on using the bag in my Mibo Mastr 16” kick scooter for light touring, but because the fork is quite short in length due to the whee size, I would like to ask if it is possible to measure the length of the adapter as the specification sheet mentions 22cms height but it doesn’t clarify if this refers to the actual bag or the adapter. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
    P.S. you guys where the inspiration to choose my Brompton’s color in the now discontinued claret!

    Hi! Is it possibile to mount the plate in a fork with 2 eyelets? Which is the distance between the first and the third eyelet? Thanks

  • @marksadventures3889
    @marksadventures3889 4 года назад

    The second option would be mine, as my bike is older and doesn't have the mounts and i wouldn't want to go the route of having them made. I use hose clips - well I will be when I get round to it.

    Was really interested in these for a suspension fork 27.5 + bike. Not so sure now, but look forward to your long term review. Would like to see a overview of the various options to mount stuff to a suspension fork. I believe you did one a few years back. Any chance of an update video?

    I think you can use the WolfTooth BRAD system on the CutThroat to get the bag to work.

    This looks pretty cool, and compatible with my bike that has limited fork mount options. Can the mount be removed easily so just the clamps are permanently on the bike? Or is it more intended that the mounts are permanently or semi-permanently attached as well?

    Hi Russ, do you know if the plastic mounting spine can be securely mounted to the 3 eyelets on a Tumbleweed rack, or does the mounting spine need more surface area like the fork blade to be stable/secure? I believe you have both items, so I thought I’d ask. Thanks!

    • @WildlandExplorer
      @WildlandExplorer Год назад

      I just did this on a Tumbleweed T-Rack. It works totally fine just like on a fork... BUT, you must use shorter 20mm countersunk-head M5 bolts (Got a set of various sizes from amazon about 10 freedom bucks). They are 5mm shorter than the bolts supplied by Ortlieb. Running the 25mm supplied bolts are too long and will damage the Tumbleweed rack.
