I totally understand people not wanting this movie to do well considering Kevin Spacey. However, I feel awful for the others who worked in this movie, long before the truth about Spacey's actions came out.
magnus pendragon I would wanna see it too. The movie did look cool. But when I think about it... maybe they should have done what they did with Back to the Future with Marty McFly. But I would still watch it for the story
magnus pendragon That's what they get for working for trash. They should take it as a lesson to be informed about who they're working for, or if they don't feel comfortable working for them, if something "feels off" to listen to that. Sometimes you end up working for trash and you have to pay alongside them even for mistakes you obviously didn't commit, but at least you can learn.
@@gucho2625 they had as much knowledge about his actions at the time as you have a brain. You wouldn't turn down a movie role solely for the reason he seemed off. Who's to know anyone knew about his actions at the time.
Thuy nguyen the difference between a 17 year old and a 14 year old isn’t a technicality. Unless you’re one of those people who say retarded shit like “well 17 is only one year away from 16 and 14 is only one year away from 15 so they’re the same thing” lmao.
He was 14 and Spacey was 27. Spacey says he doesn’t remember but if it did happen he apologized for what must have been “drunken behavior.” Aka it didn’t happen but if it did I was drunk.
Aren't most people paid regularly during production with the initial budget? I thought they were just trying to recoup as much as possible for the investors that suddenly got boned with the Spacey news.
nwowolfpacfan415 That movie was horrible. People think it's awesome because 1. Nostalgia. 2. bearded Robin Williams was in it. And 3. The effects were incredible for the time.
I assume it would be for insurance. Because the Kevin Spacey news came out after production & would derail the film, a limited release in theaters with no promotion to make it an absolute flop = insurance. Whatever insurance plan they made would get them more money than actually promoting the movie & hoping for it to still do decently.
Nsomnia777 its so funny how naruto started as a good for nothing type of character and about overcoming everything through hard work then the author got super inconsistent and basically have every asspulls possible
I'm not seeing it as supporting Spacey I just want to see the movie for the movie. Plus like everyone else said on the video, there's other people that worked on the movie.
I feel like a smart route would’ve been if they came out and were like we don’t like what this guy did we’re going to minimize his appearance within the movie, but we made this movie that we think is really good because of these actors. And then highlight those actors the entire way so it’s focused mainly on them. Would’ve given at least a better return than ~$600
It's funny watching these recent JKnews videos Mike went from no hat to hat in this video Bart went from hat facing backwards to forwards in this Gina went from hair split in the middle to split on one side in this And Joe was wearing his yellow glasses to no glasses
Well, on top of the sexual assault allegations, there'd been a handful of actors that'd come forward and claimed that Kevin Spacey was horrible to work with, that he was aggressively confrontational, egotistical, and would occasionally treat various other male actors in an uncomfortable manner. Even his own brother's claiming that he's a monster, and that it's no coincidence that many of the roles he's excelled are that of a twisted man. Bottom line, seems Spacey is just universally agreed to be a horrible man who attempted hand wave his own controversy with that BS coming-out announcement like he automatically expected the tides to change into support.
@0:35 Is I Just Me Or Did Bart Get His Left Arm Transplanted With A Less Buff White Dude ? LoL Reminds Me Of Family Guy Where Dude Discovers Internet Porn XD
Omg Gina mentioned The Room! The Room is super bad though the idea behind a ghost trying to scare you out for your own sake would have been gold if executed properly.
I have to remind myself that these people were small children when the Billionaire Boys Club scandal was going on. That's why none of them have ever heard of it.
You don’t make money at the cinema for most big budget films. It’s selling to people like Netflix and airline companies - the filmmakers specifically, producers will make money and sales representatives.
I agree with Geo about the support. I found out that my favorite Chinese restaurant, nothing I’ve tried has compared to, human traffics girls from China. I’ve refused to eat there ever since because eating there feels like I would be supporting slavery knowing what I know. Family owned restaurant- the whole family is in on it
The other actors were probably okay with this purposefully not promoting the movie and forcing a flop. Because would any of the actors want to go on press tours for this? Even if they banned questions about Spacey it would look bad anyways. And all the actors are still up and coming, it would hurt their careers even if they didn’t answer or discuss Kevin Spacey questions in interviews.
Producers and investors actually like this though. When you make a movie you insure everything, even the money your investors or the network puts in. So everything gets paid back to the people that need to be paid. I.e. the crew and actors.
This doesn't send a message to Hollywood it was only in 11 theaters and even though that still is a flop it is nowhere near having this movie Countrywide and only getting $600
There are so many famous people who have done something wrong. Most of em I still watch or listen to. I separate the artist from the gossip and allegations. But with some artists it's the first thing I think about when I see them. When I see Chris Brown, first thing that pops in my mind is 'wife beater'.
Many things could've gone differently if they had done this differently. I mean, they didn't promote this afraid that Spacey's news is gonna overshadow this and marketing cost money so they're afraid of loosing more money on this. But I feel like if they had promote it, there would be more people like Bart who can separate artist and the art showing up for the moving. It could've been controversial but it wouldn't be completely ghosted. But the cost is too much to risk marketing it
There's a difference between where someone works in a group vs. They're by themselves. It's ok to support movies like secret live of pets because C.K is just a voice compared to R.Kelly who sings good when there's so many other artist you can support.
But it was still a highly successful sequel as far as box office numbers go. At the end of the day, that's what the industry is looking for. Taron Egerton breaking out as a new actor leading a successful and profitable franchise that's currently continuing to extend because of the proof that IT IS successful? Looks pretty good to me. The fact that most people aren't even aware that this particular film exists only furthers my point, and hey - every single successful actor out there still has shit movies in their filmography. Doesn't make them any less successful.
That is a really low budget for a movie. 15M$ is super low for a Hollywood movie. I would watch it, but not at the theaters. Kevin Spacey is a good actor in most things he is in (a villain) and i got nothing else really to say about him.
