Years ago we had friends who told their kids they would match whatever they managed to save by their 18th birthday towards a car. All kids except the youngest had at most 2K saved. The little one, watching this take place over the years, took it to heart and got his first job at 11, mowing lawns and tossing the newspaper. He had many jobs and worked countless hours until he was 18.
He had saved 15k!! His parents couldn’t and didn’t match that but after hearing that story we decided to just give them X towards it, no matter what they had saved.
Still makes me laugh. Kid grew up and became an attorney

I so relate to what you were sharing. My mindset can either totally wreck my day or make it joyful.. it’s easy to go to the negative, or the compassion trap. There is absolutely always something to be grateful for. Starting the day with God is life changing.💜🙏🏼

Just my thoughts. No disrespect intended. If u believed this verse, u would never have a "bad" day. I taught my kids that there r never "bad" days only bad moments. Some days have more bad moments than others, but there is always something to be thankful for like the sun on your face, kindness from a stranger, or whatever. "The day that the Lord has made" doesn't change just because feelings or circumstances do. I always tell them to have lots of good moments or choose to make them for yourselves and others.😊 just my thoughts.

I love your thoughts if we ALL believed every verse in the Bible...how much better our lives would be...this is why I share these and share how we grow and get closer to the Lord and live that great life but the world and things around us want us to get us away from.what God wants us to focus on....the enemy tries everyday in my own life to get my focus off of Jesus but reading daily and being reminded daily helps me to get in the practice of doing this everyday so I don't forget ❤️

Thoughtful response and I'm sure Amy agrees with you, but there are people who do believe in the verse but sometimes are faced with an overwhelming set of difficult circumstances to deal with. They, we, find comfort in being encouraged and reminded to see the sparks of joy that surround us even in our darkest moments. Peace.

Amy please understand this question is because I think I missed something. I homeschooled both my autistic children and their younger brother so I had plenty of challenges. But I was able to take my special kids (now adults) way farther than public schools. I got my kids reading and comprehending beautifully so that by middle school age they were all given reading assignments (books) and needed to write book reports. Given how old your kids all are I'm wondering what the benefits of still reading to them are? To my mind it's holding them back from independence. What am I missing? You always seem to do everything with purpose so I'm looking for your fresh insight. Thanks!

    • @amymaryon

I appreciate this question...then I counter with this question..do you learn best by audio books...podcast or other videos?? For us...when we read together..we usually have big discussions about things...so this book we are currently reading is giving us lots of insight into what is going on in the spiritual world around and how the enemy will use that but as a child.of. God.how that works...so for us...it's probably a very beneficial time.to talk about real life issues and discussion about things going on today...that have their own assignments but I homeschool so that we can learn and grow in life situations too. Hope that helps explain ❤️. I have found more.openess between us when we can discuss things and usually happens from commentary on a book
      .

@@amymaryon thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me. I did the life situations discussions through a different sector of study but basically we got the work done (you and I) through different methods. Makes me happy to see outside my own way of doing things. Turns out I didn't short-change my kids at all; we just used different methods! Wishing you a great day!

I credit "This Present Darkness" for revolutionizing my prayer life! It was the first time I saw how important our prayers can be in the spiritual realm. There is a second book called "Piercing the Darkness." Another series that I think your kids might enjoy is Chuck Black's "War of the Realms" - or did I learn about them from you? LOL I can't remember. One last series I liked (but you should preview it before you read it to your kids since it has some parts that are tough) is Terri Blackstock's "The Restoration" series. It centers around a Christian family and what happens when electricity is lost to the whole world. Blessings, Janell

I have found that a warm shower right before bed really helps with sleep. I use soaps that smell like chamomile, and it really helps with relaxing me. The one problem I do have is waking up around 3 am, not being able to go right back to sleep. I do go to bed around 8 pm, though. Going through menopause really put a wrench in my circadian rhythm. It bothers me when women want to knock other women down. We might have different goals, but in the end, we are all human and sometimes need a helping hand, so to speak. Take care.
