You should be careful when measuring lag as there is server lag which is the one you should optimize for and then there is client lag, which can be ignored. Press alt+F3 and focus on the lower right charts, which shows the server performance.

    Minecraft elegance: pig farm

I love this ! It's such an original design for pig spawner. Did you ever thought of a maxed size farm ? Spawner works if the player is within a 16 block spherical radius, I wonder how efficient a farm can be. I think Ilmango mentioned this idea once in a video (since they got illimited pig spawner on Scicraft) but never heard of it since. So you can basically make a 32 block (maybe 33 if player is in the middle of 2x2x2 cube) sphere of spawner and make a farm out of this. I cannot imagine how complex this would be to approach max efficiency since its spherical and you have to think about the amount of spawner, spawn spaces, lifetime of entity... I think the best approach would be to get rid of the pigs as soon as possible since they'll block other spawn. This could be a fun challenge I think :)

That is such an elegant design, and even if it isn't as efficient, I would love to make it.

This would work with spiders wouldn't it?

Yeah but it would be a novelty farm since letting the spiders fall through open air into water collection is easier

@@whitestonejazz right. but novelty farms are still fun for bragging rights

sometimes I ask myself "what if I don't?" and things work out. Like in this project, I almost didn't try the up-and-down dirt approach because I thought the items would be stuck inside the farm. But then I thought "what if I don't collect the items?". So I built the farm and the items oddly escaped the farm on their own. Usually when I ask "what if I don't ... ?" the answer is "the device breaks". But sometimes the device doesn't break and those times are interesting.

@@whitestonejazz that's a lot like how things came to be in the permaculture series, right? Either way, that seems like a really good way to come up with new ideas!
