Next step: Unify the cactus and the bamboo farm with a decent furnace array to create the most efficient green dye xp farm.
"decent" he's prob gonna do like a 300 furnace array and call it bad 💀
By array, you think he will use the hoppers going on opposing directions to each other to equally distribute the materials to each furnace?
Good luck finding the last furnace you took xp from. If only movable block entities were a thing 😭
@@dudejunior1995 First, the server would be able to handle something in ballpark of 2000 furnaces. Second, you likely want to have enough XP in a single furnace to get from 27th to 30th level. Any more XP wastes efficiency. Most efficient furnace XP farm would have _a lot_ more than 300 furnaces.
@@dudejunior1995 those are rookie numbers

The new bamboo blocks make this the most OP wood farm, it's a shame minecraft hasn't added autocrafting of any sort.
*for skyblock
@@Potatezone It's a shame all the wood farming technology will be in vain. They already broke iron farms with village stacking and made all mob farms into portal farms, so there was no point to updating from 1.12 anyway.
@@Potatezone honestly I think it’s fine they don’t have auto crafting, gotta play the game some time haha

To me, Ilmango saying that a 2.1 million blocks project “isn’t that much effort to build” has the same energy as Mumbo Jumbo saying that a complicated mess of redstone “really isn’t that complicated” .
Oh and btw I love your videos please keep us entertained with your magic and insanity!
"It's really quite simple"
"We can go even larger"
Compared to Scicraft, Mumbo's redstone really isn't complicated.
@@hellterminator well for the most part scicrafts redstone isnt as complicated, its the scale which is quite hard to achieve, for the most parts its placing or removing millions of blocks which makes it impressive.
Gotta love the dedication to 2 Series, content in between AND the Snapshots that will come
You can compact the farm by rotating each module by 90° so the bulky unloading segments are offset to each other
Due to the use of hopper minecarts this farm is probably directional, so you can't rotate it
No not really u just need to fix it for the side and it works the same, the point is that the game lag in this case wouldve been so bad that the farm would produce even less than with the smaller version (Only 10M bamboo ph)
@@tanish6641 u can rotate hopper minecarts , I dont think its a directional farm
@@butter838 minecarts get janky when they are rotated in certain direction by some reason
@@enn1924 You mean rail hopping? Thankfully, here the minecarts aren't rolling on rails (except for the short time it takes for them to unload) Also, if the minecarts misbehave, that's usually the result of them reaching an unloaded chunk. Same thing happens to flying machines, it's wonky at best, disfunctional at most. So you'd probably need a decent chunkloading grid under the farm to make it useful.
On the other hand, it should work regardless of rotation, so long as the chunk loading is handled properly. What I'd recommend is:
Time how long a cycle takes for the farm to complete, and don't let the player leave the AFK spot for that amount of time after they turned the farm off while standing there. Or, just simply make a chunk loading grid under the farm that turns on when you turn the farm on, and turns off after waiting for one more cycle's worth of time after the farm is turned off.
It looks so elegant when the bubble launched minecarts gracefully land on their seats on the flying machine. I love that so much
That “hopper minecart bubble column cannon” thing is the most satisfying useful contraption I’ve ever seen

So if I want 12 bamboo, I only need to wait 0.004225396829806 seconds? Sounds great, might build the farm!
That sounds like a reasonable amount of fuel
Catching the mine carts on the way up is so satisfying

Now Mumbojumbo's *12 bamboo* look worthless
No the 12 bamboo are more valuable!
The 12 bamboo is worth more then this whole farm together
12 bamboo is all you need though.
@@sixtenwidlund4258 what about *12 million* bamboo per hour?
It’s not about the quantity, it’s about the quality! The 12 bamboo are pure, they’re 100% organic, natural bamboo. They have more bamboo per bamboo piece than the entire 10 million bamboo combined. These 12 bamboo were harvested with absolute care by extremely clean hands, not mass harvested by machines that don’t meet the requirements for a hygienic work space.
2:37 "It took a bit of development time, but... I got it to work" That could be Ilmango's catch-phrase

@@ilmango isn't there also a design that uses stairs?
@@happyhippo1043 I'm sure you can make it work with stairs as well, but it's not as compact I would assume. You can't just replace
Two million blocks needed to be placed and you are getting concerned about measly 3400 blocks? Cute
Rotate the second layer by 90 degrees so that they can stack closer together
The farm is directional, the hopper minecarts wouldn't sit correctly if the farm ran north-south. He made a video a few months ago on sugarcane farms that use this same blade design that shows this..
He is Limited by lagg Not vertical space
There are 200 blocks above empty, but lag makes using them kinda meaningless. Plus I think it's directional
He'd would be able to remove the layer with glowstone and glass and put the glowstone on the same layer as the dirt.
Some bamboo spots would be removed, but the extra height gained from the removed glass-layers will make it possible to add more layers.
Also 1 glowstone would be able to light 2 layers at once.
ilmango using, "hella," is too powerful for me to handle as a person who was born where the slang originated. It did put a smile on my face! Cheers from the west coast of the states

Definitely need that in combination with the cactus farm on scicraft!!
Having scicraft once again running at the absolute top of what is possible is great, can't wait for another quarry
I know that since mango’s released the schematic for the clay complex, I’m 100% not building a quarry - renewable terracotta at the cost of 1 crafting operation and 1 smelting operation is 100% worth not having to go through the pain of trying to figure out what broke this time with a quarry, lol.
I’m 100% with you - will love to see them do it! But for myself, that’s one I’ll skip :)

Hey, love this farm, do you have a world download for the small scaled version (2:40)? That would be awesome! :D
Hey Mango, could you post a World download or the schematics for the design? love your stuff.
the bamboo change to crafting into a wood will change this game's early game and wood metas dramatically
I wonder if pandas will eat my bamboo plank house?
I was, honestly, surprised when Mojang put out the bamboo planks as a simply 4 block.
I get WHY they made that choice - so that you wouldn't need a crafting bench to get the planks you might need to make a crafting bench if you were running some sort of minimalist sky island or the like - but my initial thought was that it was going to take a full 9 bamboo per plank block, which would be much more balanced.
The only real limitation on bamboo now is that there is not a means to turn them into charcoal - which denies you torches, campfires, and the increased fuel efficiency logs can provide through charcoal use.
Imagine if designed things irl as good as we Minecraft farms would solve world hunger resource shortages
Those things only exist IRL because of politics and greed.
The problem of the _20th_ century was *production.*
The problem of the _21st_ century is *distribution* (due to greed and politics.)
Yeah we just need an irl dupe glitch
Love a new ilmango upload!
i love this series, mango
really interesting stuff
This is just so elegant! I'm not sure why I would want that many bamboo per hour but I enjoy watching it so much . Good stuff. 👍
I feel like it would be better if it took 9 bamboo per plank instead of 4. Ideally, it would be treated like copper, iron, gold, and the likes, where you could unpack it into the bamboo sticks again. You can already do this with non-ore material, like wheat and mellons, so it would make sense to do that with the bamboo planks as well.
You could probably cut down the amount of work by putting glowstone into the dirt layer and getting rid of the glass layer entirely. Would only lose a small portion of bamboo per layer.
Would you be able to have layers between the layers by alternating between east - west north - south. Or is this all directional. Guess this series is designing scicrafts new farms and so can't wait to see this built. Awesome
the only reason to do this is to make it compact, but as he said after a certain number of layers you come to the point of diminishing returns , but yes you can do that
It is directional, and keep in mind he said there are 200 blocks above empty, the main limit is lag more than space
I take it this will be built on scicraft just like the cactus farm can't wait to see u guys build the super massive farms
If you run this 24/7 this farm produces 87.6 billion bamboo a year.
“Would ne clickbait… and isn’t my style” SIMPLY PERFECT 🥭🥭
man these cars going up in the bubbles is unbelievable, really impressive
Mango, could you compress the farm vertically by rotating each double layer 90 degrees? This way the redstone that extends beyond the edge of the farm will fit "around" the next layer set. Or are the clearances too tight right at the edge? I just saw a lot of vertical space being "wasted" in between the layers and wondered if that could be reduced.
I gotta say I dont think most people will switch to bamboo for tree farming as most of the tree farming I've seen is for building blocks and charcoal. With the most preferred building block being spruce bamboo isn't going to dethrone a universal tree farm.
And you also don't need to build a bamboo farm if you want some wood as you can just go a forest and chop down the trees. I only see bamboo wood farms being a thing for very big projects where you just need any kind of wood.
Can't wait to see this on the skyblock!
3:13 ive been playing minecraft since browser seeing you do this literally breaks my mind. Your insane at redstone in this game. I
have never seen anything like this
Taking a shot everytime Mango says "flying machine"
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this in the next episode of his SkyBlock survival series
i love this channel, this is more enjoyable than any netflix show
I was just looking for a bamboo farm on your channel, huh
"Going any larger wouldn't make any sense"
Amen
2:38 i got some cubehamster flashbacks here when i saw this. looks so cool
I'm getting a kick out of the ridiculousness of this series.
Considering The first farm only poducing 5000 equilient of wood per hour, I would rater build a tree farm
Random though:
I assume that the length of the farm is to guarantee that when the flying machine arrives to the second layer, the majority of the bamboo is fully grown. By that logic, by the time the machine reaches the start of the second layer, the beginning of the first layer has the majority fully grown.
With this knowledge, could you technically double up on flying machines, having them on opposite sides to maximize this even more?
Having it go around is super smart, it took me a bit before it clicked why it is more efficient
"2.1 million blocks placed it's not even that much" Ilmango
That flying machine is awesome!
Its fun to watch the minecarts go down and jump back up
This needs more views tbh
Love this Series!
Thank you for making truly educational content.
Love to see minecraft's engineering at its finest. Sad that the computational limit isn't higher, would like to see a stream of items shooting out of a nether portal with a bamboo farm that goes to minecraft's limits and not the servers....Cool video nonetheless, always happy when I see you uploaded a new video
What would solve the bamboo planks problem is maybe have an interim craft, like a bamboo mat.
The mat can be placed on the floor like carpet, but if you want to make planks then you combine bamboo mats together.
Kinda like the way ice, packed ice, and blue ice are.
Ilmango takes I imagine at least 100 hours to concept, design, and build a farm that produces more in 1 hour than I could use in a year of daily play.
fyi he is only building the 192x10 row he shows first and then copying it to scale it up. I doubt he is even placing most of the blocs, which can also be done with litematica either through filling rectangular shapes or pasting sub-scematics from previous designs.
Seeing bubble column ejected hopper minecarts is like a circus act. Mango is a Ringmaster. 😊
what ilmango doesn't realize is that his videos are also in the comedy category because of how hilarious it is to say it's "not that bad" to build.
Uhh nice, we need a bambu farm too!!
Wow. Thanks for your video, ilmango.
This is the craziest invention in Minecraft I have ever seen
Could you do a tutorial for the two station used by the flying machines? just like for the Mega Base friendly Sugar Cane Farm
“I could go larger for the clickbate but it’s nit my style”
Writes 10 millions bamboo per hour
Aaaand it’s not a clickbate lol
that's some beautiful slimestone
Could you save a layer by replacing the glass layer with the next bamboo layer and just remove some dirt for the glowstone?
The stacked farms are not layer-eficient anyway, there is even enough room between them to make the furnace array
not really worth it
I thought about this, too. I think if we took the suggestion of rotating different layers by 90° so they stack tighter, and also removing the extra layer by sacrificing some bamboo space, you'd be able to fit more total farms in a vertical slice.
@@apotheotic would cause too much lag to be fater, as the video said
1.20 releases bamboo blocks etc.
ilmango... hold my beer.
No one : how big can you make this farm ?
Scicraft : yes.
This is the most beautiful thing I've seen today
Only 2.1 million blocks? Piece of cake. 😂
So if we just look at this under the aspect of fueling furnaces on your system, bamboo would max out at around ~7000 furnaces. It might be interesting to consider the limits of other fuel sources in future videos of this series
I've been wondering about bone meal based bamboo farms ever since we now have a way of generating bonemeal with mossblocks effectively and how well automatically farming the items that way can be
Creates a 10 Million Items farm...
"I could go bigger but I clickbait is not my style."
Bro: The things you do are literally the opposite of clickbait. You create incredible farms and "undersell" them in your thumbnails.
You are truly incredible
This is so totally bonkers I can't even describe it. Schematic for the original test farm please!
new project for scicraft
Could you increase the height between the glass blocks and the bamboo (between the farms) to potentially grow and harvest more bamboo? It seems like wasted space that some bamboo could grow into and improve the yield, unless that leads to dropped items and increased entities.
That’s a lot of panda food 🐼
I made a chorus flower farm that used a similar flying machine strategy, going up in a loop. Made me very rich on a farming server lol
Quick optimisation:
You should weave more bamboo segments in those vertical spaces by alternating their direction (such that you have a layer going north, then east then north then east etc..)
Would make 2x better usage of the empty space.
You're limited by your computer, not by the compactness of the farm
@@zoneoff668 you are aware what it means to optimise right?

this is great for planks and hopefully will reduce the amount of tnt duping
I’ll be honest, it looks like you could fit this farm in itself by rotating it 90 degrees and putting it in the empty spaces, but I get that that would be very leggy.
Good concept for the skyblock series! Although I think this could be made more efficient/s.
That's 2.9 million doublechests pr hour😳
now that there is a new wood type i think its time for a new villager and station block. We need a Carpenter Villager and they could use a carpenters bench that could act similar to the stone cutter but only does unique shapes to wood types. as for the trades, everything wood based should be obvious
great idea. I'd love a wedge shaped block too, similar hitbox to stairs but textured as planks cut diagonally
@@_BangDroid_ that would ruin the illusion of minecraft
@@hamsterdmg Rails can go diagonally up/down so it's kind of similar
@@_BangDroid_ not the same
8:27 this is why ilmango is best
That’s a lot of bamboo!!
I wonder if removing the glass layer and replacing some of the dirt with glowstone more layers could be packed together increasing production
did I count it right, that the gap between layers was 10 block? 'cause the main body of a layer was also 10 block tall, meaning you could compact the farm by having layers on top of each other rotated in 90 degrees, while the rotation is also only necessary to be able to fit the redstone on the sides the same way you did now. That way you could compact the farm vertically to about half the size, while leaving hardly any block worth of space wasted in there between the layers.
After bamboo planks become a thing, the only reason for other tree farms will be to have multiple color choices for building. Provided of course, that bamboo planks will have the same qualities as normal wood planks, other than their texture.
9:10 you only need 380 shulkerboxes of both dirt and bamboo to make the farm
You could increase the compacity by inserting modules in between perpendicularly
Alternate title: building infinite exp storage part 1
Now with 1.20 this is also a roughly 2 million wood per hour farm
Not sure what the exact dimensions are, but is it possible to fit another layer turned 90° in-betwren the modules?
Only I mango would say a farm like this is “not a lot of effort” to build…..,,,,🤯🤯
You can have a bigger one without more space, by putting farm between every layer (in free space), but 90° turned for machining
