some of the recyclables actually get contaminated inside the big blue bin, i think it would be better to have different bins for different types of recyclables, thus the whole recyclable process will be more efficient!

Begin teaching recycling in schools at a young age so the next generation will be well-versed in sorting recyclables. It's crucial to start this practice at home, as relying on a central sorting center staffed by humans is inefficient. Many recyclables end up in landfills because they aren't properly sorted.

Nope, your mum is a conscientious and responsible person. We always clean the bottles, jars and deposit them in the recycling bins.

@@Tyler_Memo Perhaps understand the reason for the annoyance. Some are irritated by the sight of an accumulation of empty containers and consider it clutter. Get a recycling bin container (IKEA or elsewhere) for recycling. Keep it clean and neat. Empty it often so it doesn't accumulate. My kids help empty it for a small reward. Can keep bin in the yard area or under the sink so it doesn't look a mess. Also flatten some recyclables to make them smaller.

It is ironic that to save the environment we need to consume less but consuming less is in direct opposition to the growth of the economy. In a capitalistic economy, the more people consume the larger the economy. That's what GDP literally is. Historically, the government as shunned the idea of a slower economy and always emphasised the need to ensure our economy continues growing to thrive in the world.
So, if the government wants the economy to grow but trash to reduce. Then they need to incentivise recycling. Telling people that it's for the greater good is rarely enough to get everyone on board. If people could get say tax breaks or perhaps rebates on every recyclable product bought. That would push people towards consciously choosing green products. That would then slowly see a shift towards more recycling as most of the waste produced would be of recyclable materials. This would allow consumption to remain high enough for the economy to expand and at the same time waste generated will be lesser as more and more people use recyclable products.

Please provide non potable water to support the rinsing of cans and paper cartons. Using our precious tap water to rinse cans is a waste of our precious resource.

You want to recycle? Look to how Japan does recycling. It is a full community effort and I honestly do not believe the general Singapore public will have to patience to seperate their trash for recycling.

Singapore has no place to recycle clothes and household electronics appliances such as a rice cooker. Not sure what other advanced countries do with those items? And is Singapore going to do recycling business in those items?
