I’m not necessarily in favour of a woman hanging onto ‘her man’ that seems destined to a path of self-destruction with his life, fighting his ‘secret war’ but I’ve gotta say that our extremely intrepid, determined, resolute and perhaps naive lady in question in Concrete Blonde’s endearing and extremely hopeful song ‘Joey Baby’ is not one to easily give up on her man, no matter how forlorn or hopeless the task maybe. And suggesting to him that you’ve got some money, and all is forgiven is not really an ideal approach to an on-going stable relationship but since the two of you got lucky once before it really does appear, that although he’s been drunk and passed out on the floor many times before..... you’re not angry with Joey anymore.
