If you Google this topic, you’ll find dozens of techniques and methods. What they miss though is being updated with the new tools you outline here. This makes it far more streamlined. Thanks for showing us this!
Thank you Colin. I truly enjoy your instructional technique. Your highly effective use of examples underscored with clear explanations and never leaving one in the 'dust' with a flurry of behind-the-scenes keystrokes, i.e. you explain what you are doing step by step. The biggest challenge I have with Photoshop is there are so many ways to do the same thing compounded with the reality that if one misses one 'click' or 'selection' then it doesn't work. You help develop solid foundational workflows with your explanations so the requisite habits for success get built in. Thank you
Cleanup Tip: If you want to correct the edges of the Adjustment Layer even more... click on the black & white mask side of the adjustment layer, then choose your brush tool. It will automatically place you in a black & white color pallet - if you brush with black it will erase parts of the mask selection, if you use white it will add to the mask selection.
Thanks Colin. I've seen this done before and but with photoshop's new tools, selecting the flower looks much easier. Your delivery is great and helped reinforce the knowledge. Much appreciated!
Thanks Colin :) I chose a bottle green colour to change a white window sill - when I completed colouring the bottle green, I change the mode from normal to colour - the selected area (window sills) become very light green . . . have I missed a step?
Thanks very much for this tutorial. I literally stumbled across this when browsing RUclips on a new laptop. I've only been using the object selection tool in Photoshop CC for a couple of months and I didn't realize that it had add and subtract buttons! As for the colour changing technique, that looks so easy when I thought it would quite complex-I've now subscribed so I'll be looking for more tips(either in Photoshop or RUclips)
Thank you so much. I've been struggling to do this - the only question I have it that there is a slight hue of the original color - how can I get rid of that? I've tried doing the highlight with the plus or minus but it's still there.....thanks for any help you can give me!!!
When you use rectangle to select the flower, how does it then change into a more precise selection of the petals? Is there a key stroke you are using but not mentioning?
Colin, this was such a helpful tutorial. You explanation was so concise. It was easy to follow along, and I could change the color of an object in a manner of moments. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this, Colin! When I select the Color Blending function it changes my photo from an unrealistic photo with the color I want to a realistic photo with a completely different color. Is there a better way to keep the integrity of my color layer and blend to make it look realistic?
Great video Colin but when I do this the centre of the flower stays as a square and doesn't change to a circle? Also when trying to change the colour say to red it only shows as pink and not true colour, can you please help.
Great tool for changing color! I tried this with a PNG file, but the only way I could get the color to 'stick' was to use the Hard Light blending mode. When I changed the blending mode to Color, the color I selected was not the same as being displayed. I followed your video as well as the tutorial in PS, but the result was the same in both cases. Any suggestions?
Love the tutorial! Audibly went "wow" when i changed the color of something hahaha. But quick question! I know vid is 2 years old but curious if anyone could answer me, can you change the color of the layer after you have made it?
Chur Bro Googled everywhere to find this. Object is the key word obviously in searching for this. I have a B&W image taken of someone on Remberance Day or Anzac Day perhaps wearing a poppy flower, which I want to change from grey to red. I think this tute will help. Thanks mate. It was very new to me for sure.
But how do you add a totally new colour or complex like a messed up prototype that needs a uniform but real-looking colour or a vehicle that needs a camouflage paint job as opposed toa monochromatic colour change?
I'm trying to colour an object but the object is underneath another object and when I change the colour of the underneath object the top object changes too, how can I keep the top object the same?
Thank you Colin, this is the first time l’ve seen this, you are really clear explaining and demonstrating the process. Thank you, l will be giving these new skills a go! Happy new year!
Hello Colin, I am very interested in your Photoshop 2022 Guide. I am from France. If I bought it on your website can I download it? Thank you for your answer.
Yes, I have seen this technique before, in the hands-on tutorials section of Photoshop. To quote the great Zen master Yogi Berra, “Déjà vu all over again.”
Hi I have used all of your tutorials in photoshop. But I can't make this one work on a white object. Do you do something different if the object is white? Thanks
Choosing yellow as new color results in sort of green, working on a yellow flower foto, changing does not work at all while blending. What's the matter?

Watched plenty of videos on how to change the color, but this is the best and precise one! Thank you so much Sir!

Photoshop is using AI to make the selection on its own

Very useful. I didn't know the use of the rectangle
NIce, quick, clean and easy approach to colorizing! Thank you!
Thank you Collin.
But how do you add a totally new colour or complex like a messed up prototype that needs a uniform but real-looking colour or a vehicle that needs a camouflage paint job as opposed toa monochromatic colour change?
Thank you!! This is new to me!
Do you have to choose layers to begin filling with color or if you pick color it will add a layer?
I am trying to learn photoshop but it feels very complex. I will try this option. You explained very simple to me.
Thanks
Thank you
I'm trying to colour an object but the object is underneath another object and when I change the colour of the underneath object the top object changes too, how can I keep the top object the same?

This is really helpful and simple for beginner like me, thank you so much for the video.
OMGGG, it's so beautiful, thank youuuu again;)))
Thank you SIR!!!!!!!!!
Not exaclty what I was looking for. If I use the brush tool to draw something, how can I change the color of the thing I drew?
This is great, thank you! How would I change the colour of the flower to watercolour?
I did a watercolor tutorial a while back. ruclips.net/video/3EAcC2Hocpc/видео.html
Thanks
Hi I have used all of your tutorials in photoshop. But I can't make this one work on a white object. Do you do something different if the object is white? Thanks
Yes, I have other tutorials that show how to colorize white: ruclips.net/video/syUYNIgram0/видео.html
when I changed the blending mode from normal to color-it took away the color I chose and reverted it to the original color 😞
