Hello Munchy - great video and a big plus to manage the intallation of a custom rom. Problem is, that I don't get the Magisk App listed when I reboot the phone after all the TWRP installation went fine and I did the installation of the system again (min. 8 of the video) What's my mistake?
People trying this in 2020 before installing any rom will face a few hiccups. forme the solution was to use the latest Magisk, but only the twrp munchy used. I tried latest twrp and previous versions, all failed to install latest magisk as well as the magisk used in this video.

@Servant ccl you should look into command prompt commands. or just go to the folder where you have fastboot executable, press and hold shift key, and then right click ..in the popup window click on open command prompt here.
@Servant ccl if you boot Into miui without magisk you will have to, if you install twrp and then install a custom rom then twrp will stick ..bottom like ..on miui you need magisk to keep twrp ..
Hello munchy, I followed your steps closely and I successfully installed magisk, twrp, and a custom rom (PE10+). I also backed up beforehand. I also tried to install a custom kernel. It was successful, however, I cannot install the kernel app because of an error that says magisk is not installed. I also checked it and the magisk manager was gone in my app library after restoring some apps and data. Although I still have all the .zip on my file manager. I tried installing the .apk file for magisk manager, and it also cannot detect magisk. What should I do? Thank you I hope you notice this. More power to you man
Hi again munchy, I was just wondering what are magisk and TWRP recovery ? And what does it have to do with rooting the phone ? Since, I'm gonna do it too but don't want to mess up anything, so I'm basically asking you this by precaution to know what I'm actually doing. All I know is that you can flash custom roms that's to say custom software, if I'm not... mistaken ? By using TWRP recovery, and so, it's like BIOS for pc right ? Like a hidden platform in wich you can do certain modifications to your phone, hence why you need to unlock the bootloader right ? I know that video is pretty old but I didn't wanted to do anything to my phone and stay with stock Miui stable Rom with locked bootloader, but now I would like to do certain things only achievable by rooting, wich are changing the linux kernel to extreme kernel, while changing the rom to pixel experience or oxygen os. I must make some silly mistake because I transfer magisk on the phone and I can see it in windows. When I'm in TWRP the sdcard folder is empty. What am I missing? thanks a lot for your work.

are these AMD based machines? I have read you have issues with amd machines ..Intel works fine. If they are Intel, then I have no clue how to solve your issue. best bet would be to ask in q&a sub-forum on xda.

magisk is needed to twrp is not replaced by stock recovery on first MIUI boot. if you install a custom rom right after installing twrp without booting into MIUI then yes you can skip Magisk.

Then like the step where I would flash magisk I could flash vendor>custom rom>disable force encryption and perform all the step mentioned in your video (how to install a custom rom in 2019)
TWRP demands a passwort when i boot into twrp, but i have neither pin code nor anything like it set. and because of that i cant access my data. Can you help?
@@munchy_cool no it was another problem. I downloaded a twrp version which didn't support decryption, that's why it didn't work for me. But thanks for the answer and keep on doing so!

Hello Munchy! Me again - your advice to intall Magisk APK manually worked out perfectly - Thank you for this - I have successfully intalled Pixel Experience Rom on my device thanks to your help! I have another Poco F1 for my doughter. Issue is, that when the TWRP app gets started, it asks for a password and doesn't see the Magisk files on the root drive. All password settings are set to default. No PW is enabled in the settings. Any idea? Thanks for your help in advance, Thomas
do a format data in twrp. do note it will result in all data being lost. also, I am sayinf format data and not wipe data. go to wipe - bottom right (format data) , type yes and then bottom right check mark button on keyboard

Hi it seems like i encounter a problem when im flashing the twrp recovery img , its show this "fastboot: error: cannot load 'recovery-poco.img': No such file or directory " . Ive downloaded the img from the link and rename it just as the vid recomend me as recovery-poco.img . Btw im using powershell in this process

@@saileshkumar8099 and your bootloader is unlocked? if it is , go into developer options on phone, enable usb debugging ..connect phone to computer , checkmark on the RSA notification and then try.
after enabling usb debugging and connecting usb cable (which is connected to a computer) you will get popup to allow trust that computer. if you dont then you have an option to revoke usb debugging authorizations in developer options. revoke and then connect phone to computer again and you should get the rsa thing.
@@chaosreigns4083 use google to find how to open command prompt or powershell fo windows. if you on linux/mac search how to open terminal on linux or mac.

i unlocked bootloader and did everything as you did but the phone still boot into mi recovery not TWRP
flash Magisk after booting into twrp. if you do not flash Magisk after booting into twrp, twrp will get overwritten with mi recovery

open magisk manager, open root checker app and you should get the prompt for superuser access

yes you can switch roms while you are on a vendor firmware. it is recommended to vendor firmware when switching from MIUI to custom.

magisk is needed to twrp is not replaced by stock recovery on first MIUI boot.
if you install a custom rom right after installing twrp without booting into MIUI then yes you can skip Magisk.

Then like the step where I would flash magisk I could flash vendor>custom rom>disable force encryption and perform all the step mentioned in your video (how to install a custom rom in 2019)

you will need to do a format data in twrp which will result in all data being wiped.

I have another Poco F1 for my doughter. Issue is, that when the TWRP app gets started, it asks for a password and doesn't see the Magisk files on the root drive. All password settings are set to default. No PW is enabled in the settings. Any idea?

go to wipe - bottom right (format data) , type yes and then bottom right check mark button on keyboard

Hi it seems like i encounter a problem when im flashing the twrp recovery img , its show this "fastboot: error: cannot load 'recovery-poco.img': No such file or directory " . Ive downloaded the img from the link and rename it just as the vid recomend me as recovery-poco.img . Btw im using powershell in this process
i even try recopy the original file and using the file original name recovery-20181012 on my powershell but it still load up as fastboot: error: cannot load 'recovery-20181012': No such file or directory
btw ive follow step by step following the video ,
do a ls -l in powershell and see the name of the file. maybe you have recovery-poco.img.img

are you in fastboot mode? does device show when you do fastboot devices?

after enabling usb debugging and connecting usb cable (which is connected to a computer) you will get popup to allow trust that computer. if you dont then you have an option to revoke usb debugging authorizations in developer options. revoke and then connect phone to computer again and you should get the rsa thing.

did you enable usb debugging in developer options? did you get a notification for allowing adb rsa from your computer on the phone?
