Hello from CA. Bali has great western health food but not easy 2 find accommodation without knowing someone or high prices! Glad u picked Yogya, a great place to eat & visit!
Love the little fruits at the end! Thank you for showing us what food from this country is like. I know very little but thanks to you, I'm learning a lot 😊
It’s so big that even when someone asks me what Indonesian food is like I have to say it depends on the island. For example Sumatra is so different in food because it’s so far away.
Ramadan just started s couple days ago so this was before that but you’re right many restaurants in Muslim areas would be closed :during the day but Chinese owned restaurants would be open.
I ate Ayam Taliwang almost every day when I was in Lombok. I went there with my cousins and they were surprised on how much I kept ordering that sane dish.
No actually Bali and Lombok area are not the most popular for food although I like to think every place has some great dishes. The best would be West Sumatra province which includes Padang and Bukittinggi - it’s why I stayed there so long. You’ll find people from this region all over Indonesia promoting their Padang food as everyone loves it. That said they usually have to adapt it for locals who aren’t used to the strong spices. Otherwise Bandung and Yogyakarta in Java are also considered culinary destinations and places I hope to get to soon. Right now I’m finishing up a month in India and then I’m getting an apartment in Bali for a month to catch up on work though I plan to shoot videos there as I feel like instagram sells a version of Bali so remote and raw I was surprised how developed it was. And then the plan is Vietnam! I am hoping we can rent a motorbike and drive through it but I need to look into visas and rentals first. 🤞🏼
@@ayngelina I can’t comment on the rental situation. But twenty years ago I got a Vietnamese visa in one day in Manila. It was very much a just a mandated hurdle that you needed. It was very fast and easy. The visa for India is much more time consuming, as they seem to justify the wait by t HR e fact Indians must wait weeks
I lied. Getting an apartment that is not a villa in Bali is so hard I decided to get a spot in Yogyakarta and am just negotiating a spot in a village outside that looks onto rice fields. I'll work here two weeks and may head to Vietnam early as monsoon season is coming.
For your information, Ayam Taliwang usually use a three-month old free-range chicken or in Indonesia we called it as "Ayam Kampong" that's why the chicken really small than the broiler chicken.😊
Great video very informative love you ❤️
Glad you enjoyed!

It’s been such a great experience discovering this island as most people don’t know about it.
9:30 Ayam Taliwang use a young free-range chicken (usually three-month old). In Indonesia we called a free-range chicken as "Ayam Kampong/Kampung".
Aww thanks so much for letting me know!
@@ayngelina You're welcome..😊🙏🏻 Besides Ayam Taliwang, you can try Ayam Lodho in East Java which made from Ayam Kampong too.
East Java is on my must eat list, it's soooo spicy.

It's my pleasure!

I don’t blame you, I wish I had eaten more of it!
Ayngelina, another great video Would you say Lombok is the best part of Indonesia for a foodie?
Hope to see you in Vietnam as well!

@9:30 they are small. I though that was a wing🙄
So small! But that’s the traditional way
