- In this tutorial I will show you how to get refund if you have more than 2 hours of playtime OR if you have owned the game for more than 14 days!
You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam-for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it.
It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within the required return period, and, in the case of games, if the title has been played for less than two hours.
There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look. Consumers in some jurisdictions may have additional rights to a refund in circumstances where the game is faulty.
You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of approval. You will receive the refund in Steam Wallet funds or through the same payment method you used to make the purchase. If, for any reason, Steam is unable to issue a refund via your initial payment method, your Steam Wallet will be credited the full amount. (Some payment methods available through Steam in your country may not support refunding a purchase back to the original payment method)
Requirements:
The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store. Here is an overview of how refunds work with other types of purchases.

Yeee babyy lez gooo second method worked for me i had 2.27 hours on hogwarts legacy and i bought it in 21 of February. As for the answer to your question, to transfer the money, it usually is anywhere from 1 to 3 business days. Usually less, like up to a couple of hours. US and EU regions are prioritized I believe.
The money is sent to whatever you choose it to be as long as you paid with credit card. It gives you an option. Else, it will be returned to Steam wallet (in that case, you have no say).
Make sure to state this in the request itself if you are doing it via the ticket.
Hi, I brought a game from steam and found it wasn't working well and as i played over 3 hours they initally refused. I come accross your video and i did the steps. They have refunded it but they put it into something called Steam wallet which wasn't the orginal payment. Could you give me any other suggestions on how to get steam to give me my money back onto my bank card? I just tried to buy another game thinking i would be able to refund it back onto my bank card but it never gave me the option.
So, what seems to have happened is they compensated. Because they initially refused, they have decided to give you another chance. Instead of refunding onto your original source, they have decided to let it slide and give the money onto your Steam wallet. That way, they insured you spend it again within their ecosystem on their games. I don't think that is fair, however. You can try and write them another ticket about this.

Bro, dont let the dreams be dreams. Refund it, 17 hours might not seem doable but let me tell you that I have seen people with 112 hours refunding. It might take a while and a couple of attempts but have faith 💪 good luck!
I tired to return a glitchy game within the first 6 hours after buying it. I spent 3.7 hours inside the game trying to play it while also trying to fix it. I used the standard refund request. The request was denied. I tried your method shown above. The request was also denied. So now I have a broken game and I am out quite a large sum of money. Disappointment.
Sorry for late reply! It is a disappointment indeed. It works for many but I've seen it not work for some. You should attempt to write a message under a different category like Account and management. You can get a different administrator reviewing your case.

Hello! I recently made the mistake of purchasing helldivers 2 for my windows 10 laptop, needless to say the game doesnt run well. I decided to be a dumbass however and left the game open while troubleshooting on google, running me into about 3 hours pf "play time" i have sent 3 requests to refund for not meeting system requirements but i just recieve a bot message telling me my playtime exceeded 2 hours so im not able to get a refund, am i doing somthing wrong?

Hey there! If you used Steam wallet then money will be returned to the Steam wallet, no other possibility. If you used external payment system such as debit card, paypal etc. then you are offered to have it refunded on external payment system or Steam wallet. This time, write that you could not get the game running for 3 hours that it was broken. Just keep trying until they accept a refund. My mate tried 8 times before succeeding. The key is to NOT give up.
Trying to Refund Mafia Definitive Edition Because Game Continues to Crash at Race Part Can't Proceed, I have Uninstalled & Reinstalled Game. Did you try refunding via the original way (by going to the Purchase history and demanding the refund) and the way I explained in this tutorial?
If yes, then my only advice is to keep trying. Tehnically you are out of bounds having played more than 2 hours (5+ for you).
Also, list a better reason like: "Settings dont work, game doesnt start..it just seems to be running in the background". You need to appeal as a victim so administrator reviewing your case will feel bad and refund you. Its a pyschological warfare. Best of luck, let me know how things go!

Steam needs to make exceptions for their 2 hour and 30 day limit if the game is literally unplayable. the devs have refused to fix it. Its seems like they aren't even aware its an issue. Its only the mulitplayer that won't launch I can launch single player just fine but every other mode doesn't work. I know in the past they have refunded games that were over the limit due to bugs but the fact they won't honor it is absurd.

Yes, you should definitely try to refund even though it exceeds 2 weeks of playtime. You should always try because weird and unusual refunds happen way too often. There is no guarantee, however people with 100+ hours are getting refunded etc. 😌 and it doesnt cost you anything to try. :))

No worries, try again, try different section. Instead try Account and management section, different admins will answer. Usually the messages are not written by a robot, but checked by a person and most likely written by one, too. Just try, don't give up! I believe in you.

The less than 2 hours playtime refund is a lie, ive refunded countless games with very close to 3 hours. Steam will refund a game if it has less than 3 hours of playtime, you can have 2.9hrs of playtime and it will still refund it. No idea why there's so much misinformation when i know that first hand.

@@lix5791 nope, the guy in the video is showing how you need to go out of your way to fill information and prey if it gets refunded. Never tried it but in normal circumstances you won't get a refund if its full 3 hours and above.

I see. I would do another refund and tell them that you couldnt enjoy the game and that you are very saddened because of it. Dont mention the time played or the requirements, that will make the admins reviewing your case more aware of that. Play the feelings and subjective approach. Also, note that each time you get assigned a different admin that is reviewing. Also dont mention that you have tried to refund it before. The only thing I am not sure about is if they see your previous refund attempts. That might be the case. Nevertheless, play it like a French and pretend its your first time. I have a friend that had 11 hours of play time and got refunded so its definitely not that strict.

Hey there, if you have purchased via Steam wallet then it will be returned via Steam wallet. If you have had your game rejected on refund for the first time but then got accepted the 2nd time Steam supports then just refunds straight to Steam wallet as compensation since you weren't 100% eligible for the refund. There is a very high chance that they will refund because you bought it exactly 14 days ago and played it for a bit over 3.5 hours. Just tell them you were trying to fix the settings so hard since you liked the initial impression of the game so much but was utterly disappointed after trying it out. It didn't live up to your expectations and hype.
No matter the time, always attempt to refund. There is no cost other than 2 minutes of your time associated with it. ;)

That is debatable. Two criteria are outiside of the requirements. But with some luck it could go through however do not count on it 100%. 13 hours of playtime is quite a bit more than 2 hous. Nevertheless, you should try and as said, with some luck, you will get refunded. It is sometimes really hard to assess who gets refunded and who does not because it is very inconsistent across the board. Admins do it however they feel like it. Just reapply if you get rejected. :)

That is a tough question to answer. I would say there is a chance granted I have heard a guy with 32 hours got refunded. Nevertheless, you should try. It does not cost you anything.
Ive been trying to refund squad for a couple days now, but they keep rejecting my refund, i have 5 hours on the game. I bought the game in 2022 tho. I didn't knos that i could refund my game so thats why im trying to refund the game now. The game has bad optimization, the loading screen takes over 40 minutes to finish.

What if my payment method Isn't Included within the selection option? I am from the Philippines and I used a local paying app that is only available in my region.
In that case, select one (doesn't matter which) and write in the description that you used another method of payment.

Uff, that will be a very hard one because you bought it 3 years ago. However, as a rule of thumb, crazy things happen with Steam support, and you should always attempt a refund. It doesn't cost you anything and you can do it infinite amount of times. Sometimes, you just get an admin that is high on weed that approves your request. It has happened a few times if you check the comment section..
@@Guide4Everall 3 of my refunds got declined 😭 it says that my appeal was reviewed by their like automated AI and a human didn't even look at what I typed they just checked the hours and days and declined it. Anyway I can get an actual human to review my appeal? Maybe he will understand more than the robot 😅

No, there is no fear in that. Steam support is obligated to go through every report/application. If there is one person spamming it does not make a difference when there are other 10.000 reports each day at the minimum. Steam is vast so they probably won't even notice.

@@Guide4Ever hey, actually, steam support agents can see your previous reports lol, I sent one that got rejected then sent another one and they just quoted the previous report and told me that they already mentioned that I'm unable to refund the game.
Snap, I thought this might happen. You can try different sections for manual refund (Account management etc.) because maybe different admins work there.

In this case, I would write another ticket. Its possible they missed it because there are 1000s refund requests every day. Keep being persistent, you wil achieve your right this way!

Most likely in Steam wallet, it could also be on the bank account but unlikely.

I am not sure what you mean exactly, however if you have bought the key from another non-Steam store than you have to apply for refund there, otherwise just write a ticket and type your key there and let the administrators sort it out.

Do not reply to the denial, there is nothing you can do to change that man's mind. Open another ticket under different section - i.e. Account management. You will most likely get a different admin when they redirect your request to a Refund department. I think there are in total 10-15 admins. That is probably your best shot.

No, after you refund the game, you can no longer play that game.

No need. The game will remain installed on your PC, however it will be removed from your Steam library. So if you try to run the game it will say you don't own the copy of the game.

At the bottom you Contact Steam support and click on that.
If you don't trust the link you can type Steam help in google and then open the first link. Then find Trading, Gifting,Market and Steam points -> Steam points -> Contact Steam support. This one should not demand bank credentials.

It does, by default the money is returned to the Steam wallet. If you want to refund the purchase of Steam card that you bought to transfer money to Steam wallet then contact the Steam support the same way as you would with refund for the game. Best of luck 🔥 💪

Hey there, sorry to hear that. In some regions it takes longer, however once they confirm the refund it usually takes 1-3 business days to deliver it to your Steam waller/resend to the original payment method (i.e. Paypal etc.). Sorry for late reply, happy new year!
