"The Skye Boat Song" is a late 19th century Scottish song, an adaptation of a Gaelic song composed around 1782 by William Ross.
I first heard it played live by Steve Hackett, the legendary guitarist of Genesis, during a concert in the late 1990s.
In 2014, a further modified version of Skye Boat Song was chosen as the opening theme song for "Outlander," the famous TV series set in Scotland.
My arrangement is based on Steve Hackett's version, but I made some changes. I tuned the guitar to drop D and revised the fingering of the performance.
