I always liked how Mai as Levi was the villain in OG1 and actually had to fight for trust instead of being blindly accepted. Truly made me wanna use her in battle cause it felt like her road of redemption and working for trust into earning her place. I know, it was some brainwashing but Levi still existed so Mai had to earn it.
I think it's hard to say Mai fails at hot blood when she goes on a rampage that replaces the stages background with her theme and slaughters a whole group of Neo DC Soldiers by herself without even trying. Mai is Crouching Moe, Hidden Badass.
Out of nowhere? Mai was Levi, she was there since OG1. They even give you her whole backstory in the game leading up to her joining. Ryusei and Rai even learn the truth about her before she joins and she falls in love with Ryusei like she did in the @ timeline. It may have felt weird since Levi wasn't supposed to be a final boss, she wasn't one in @1 and had her issues resolved mostly in @g/@2. It's @3 that picks up her story and runs with it til the finale and reveals the one that made her Levi

Mattman324 Yeah, that doesn't change the fact that in OG she had split personality. It would had been an intresting spin on the character, yet also a cliché one. Banpresto did a good job in going the safe route and please the fans with a canon Mai.

@DonQuilolz both versions of the game have them but it's a split story the first half happens BEFORE Masaki had Cybuster so you can see what he piloted before and all that the game timeskips when masaki leaves to chase Shu and resumes when he returns with lune, as such Valsuone starts off upgraded, you get her new attack for it along with Masaki's new attack a little after that see the other elemental lords in that game too, and ....play as Neo Granzon if you play your cards right

Yeah I think if they went with exploring dissociative personality disorder with Mai and Levi as alters learning to cooperate together instead of it being a dysfunctional relationship, that would be pretty badass. Maybe in future games

Masaki has a love interest before het met Lune! his real lover (or possibly just main out of a harem of 3) is actually the girl that MADE Cybuster the problem is i'm not sure which if any ending to that game is canon and she may have died which would make Lune the main love interest, but that part of the story has yet to happen in the OG verse anyway since Valsione hasn't had it's upgrade yet

@DonQuilolz don't understand japanese either, but if you have a DS emulator there's an english patch for the DS version of Masaki's game, "masou kishin: lord of elemental" (still waiting on a patch for the SNES version) Valsione R would be the upgrade you're looking for featuring La Gias technology upgrades and a new katana based finishing move with greater attack power than cross smasher, Masaki gets a new move based off his melee stat with greater power than cosmo nova!!
I like to think of this as my Super-Hyper-Ultimate-Overdrive-Fuck-You-Inspectors theme song. When this song plays, that means my R-Gun Powered is about to feast on some dead Inspector's roasted carcass. XD

SazukeEX1 Ryusei did compliment Latooni once. Not sure about which Mech it was, but he did say about cute the skirt looks on the mech. Valsione or Angelg, I think it was. Latooni had an inner monologue about not noticing her in a skirt. When he saw the fairlions, he called them cute all the way to the skirt on the mech and said its very fitting for her. Irm was having an inner monologue wondering if his father intended that in the creation of te Fairlion.
