This was one of the most epic and funniest heel promos of the 80's. This is what you call commanding an audience. This would have easily fit in on an episode of ECW Hardcore TV back in the day. People don't realize that without Memphis, there would be no ECW, FMW or CZW.
One of the funniest promos in Memphis Wrestling history. I laughed so hard I cried. Brickhouse Brown vs the fans and explains the absence of his manager Brother Ernest Angel. Better than the lousy, forced humour we see in today's pro wrestling.
RIP to Lance Brown, Corey Maclin,Brian Christopher & Brickhouse Brown I grew up in Memphis watching all of you guys I’m deeply saddened over Brian Christopher’s passing tho wow it’s a cold world y’all! 😞
What a great promo from Brickhouse Brown! I have always been surprised he never made it any bigger than he did in one of the major promotions. And-the people here who comment on the racism in Memphis have missed the point. Channel 5 wrestling was THE most popular show in town (including primetime) among BOTH the white and black audience. Wrestling was one of the few cultural events shared and appreciated by both communities. Everybody understood that it was all silliness, and could laugh at it. To this day, I'm not sure any other pop culture event in the US has brought people together in the way wrestling did at that time in that place.
Say it again my friend and brother. You are !00% percent correct. EVERYBODY understood that it was all silliness and hype! It brought all races together like Tiger basketball!! God bless you man for saying what needed to be said. I could laugh all day long at Channel 5 wrestling and still go out and have a great day with my friends of all races! Take care man!
Um no, everyone thought it was real. Nobody thought it was scripted and "silly." We took it seriously! Back in these days wrestling angles and terminology like kayfabe was HIGHLY GUARDED by the industry! People got in real trouble with the law protecting it! However yes, the fun and excitement of Memphis wrestling brought black and white together to enjoy. However the races remained separated by an invisible wall pretty until the late 90s as well, it was a turning point when kids like me were getting out of high school and already had appreciation for different types of music and other cultures thanks to cable (MTV in particular) and we just wanted to party with everyone.
Brick house was funny in this interview. Lol get your mind out of the gutter. That should have been Brick house catchphrase. Lol send money in to brother Ernest.
I've been watching wrestling for over 30 years, and I am just now hearing about brick house brown. The 1st video I hear is him talking about some sex society scandal and the I eye 👁️ word in wrestling
@vampirehunterme Memphis Wrestling used the city's history of racism to keep the Mid-South Coliseum packed every Monday night and Saturday morning. Pure genius...
I remember watching CWA wrestling every Saturday afternoon. The show would start with the camera panning the little studio audience. There were always a bunch of dirty looking kids in the front. I think thats where the group home dropped them off at for entertainment.
that's just how the memphis fans were. you think philly and the manhattan center get some rough crowds.... these people would boo the second coming if lawler didn't sign off on him first.
One can always be sure that if a video of a black man exists there will always be people who use it as a means of signaling virtue they don't actually possess 🤣 Only two thumbs up in ten years for that lol
"Sure you gon watch her behind, I mean her back." Lmbo that was hilarious. We miss you brother brickhouse brown!
Rest In Peace Brickhouse Brown and Lance Russell.
The1baddman He is not dead yet.

Brickhouse doing his best not to laugh.
Lance kept his composure. If this is Mean Gene Okerlund, he’s corpsing.
“He got AIDS” chants CRAZY 😂😂😂😂
Different America then.
Back in the day you can get away with these chants.
That's hilarious
Wow...just WOW
You should still be able to
2:38 - Lance Russell trying not to die laughing.
0:55 No, he's not suffering from AIDS! Get your mind out the gutter!
RIP Brickhouse.
Check out Dave Brown laughing in the background when Brickhouse said the Cuban Assassins are now the Cuban Choir Boys...
That made me laugh too!
Brick house was funny in this interview.
Lol get your mind out of the gutter.
That should have been Brick house catchphrase.
Lol send money in to brother Ernest.
Brown almost looked like he was smiling!
Brother Ernest helped ME see the light!
Lance did a good job holding his laugh in but Dave Brown was killing himself laughing.
Brickhouse and Lance both struggled to stay in character and not laugh during this promo.
this is a master class in how to captivate an audience. RIP brickhouse
man lol, Memphis is hardcore
Nice job Brickhouse!
Great promo from the late 80's
A "He's got Aids" chant? O_o ECW has nothing on this.
Rip brick house
He's not dead yet. The ultimate kick out
He's dead now
The expression on Dave Brown face when Brick House Brown said they will be called the Cuban Choir Boys.
Brick House: he didn't get aids from Pat Patterson
🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:39Is priceless! Also 3:20!😂😂😂👍👍👍
3:26 ... LOL@ Lance & Dave's reaction
Lance Russell is the best announcer ever
Only in Memphis would they chant he got aids
That chant by the crowd, tho...
You couldn't do that today
*though
@@robbc315 Appreciate you and the grammar police but I always type "tho" online. Just a little slang. Some people even say "doe".
Have a blessed day.

Brick house is underrated
So.. aids was a laughing matter in the 80s, oh shit...
@vampirehunterme Memphis Wrestling used the city's history of racism to keep the Mid-South Coliseum packed every Monday night and Saturday morning. Pure genius...
Damn this Crowd was Fucking Mean!
Also "He's got AIDS! He's got AIDS!" LOL
RIP

And these were the same people who would touch and dip their hankies into the splilled blood on the ring apron at the end of the night.
ShutUpYouMong If that's true, then that's just sick!
Was this the peak of his career?
Double B.B.
Block house brown
Block house was funny couldn't wrestle but Block house had bad jokes
Was Brickhouse Brown an amateur wrestler?
He wrestled in high school & college, I think he was on Auburn's team before it got rid of its program.

vampirehunterme

One can always be sure that if a video of a black man exists there will always be people who use it as a means of signaling virtue they don't actually possess 🤣
