I have a 2005 1500 classic. I always felt like highway speeds are too much for the bike wear and tear wise, I wish it would of been made as a 6 speed. at 70 it is absolutely screaming the rpms, granted even though it's screaming it still has plenty more beans to give, but 6 speeds are for highway cruising, 5 speeds are for town cruising and light highway use
@AnthonyFishervlogs iv been so used to being on a 6 speed harley for years , where at 70mph in 6 gear is still lugging. now that I'm on a kawi it feels like I'm screaming at the upper end of an rpm range say 3-5k ish, don't get me wrong by no means am I trash talking a kawi 1500 I haven't regretted my purchase not one bit, but being its a 5 speed long highway trips are just unnessasry wear on an engine that I personally don't believe was made with highway as a primary intention. its more of a town cruiser that's highway capable

That's crazy mine always did good. But then again I came off a 650 to that

Can change tooth count to help that a bit. I'm doing it on my 800, from 17/42 to 18/39. If I remember, I'll give an after-action.
