I really REALLY don't like people saying Kendall was chosen OVER Gina. Anyone that says this forgets that JYP said at the very beginning of the show that EVERYONE COULD DEBUT!! Kendall didn't take ANYONE'S SPOT. It's most likely that the character evaluations for Gina and Christina ended up being bottom 3 while he felt their final's performances were middle/low ranking. They LOST their own spots, their spots were not TAKEN by Kendall. Since Kaylee was also bottom two, just add in that she took their spots too and double down if that's your viewpoint.

I always felt Gina like a robbot during her performances, her vocals and dance skills were amazing but, i always felt like she was to focus being perfect at those areas, and forgot to enjoy the performance and make the audience feel her energy and power. The only performance that I felt her being amazing and enjoying was the perfomance with Camila and Cristina. So, I kind understand why JYP didn't choose her, he told her all the time that she need to enjoy and take care of her expressions and at the first perfomance at Korea he said "I'm worried with Gina". About her solo carrer, I still felt like she was singing and dancing like a perfect robbot, and didn't felt anything about the music and her expressions. I hope that in the future she understand more about expressions and feel more "confortable" too dance and sing with more emotions, cause she already have talent.

I think JYP chose also based of their image. Their debut song was really cutesy and youthful but Cristina and Gina have a more mature aura. Also as a Yuna stan; she had great charisma but it was sad to see her nerves take over and ranked lower and lower. Her confidence was beat by the time she left. If she had received the praise Kendall got then I'm pretty sure she would have done better.

  • @gorillaofjohn15
    @gorillaofjohn15 Год назад +17

Gina was my bias during A2k.
But now actually i feel this is really a good team, and a good decision.
Their personalities and character is a good match.
Savanna is so low key but her personality is slowly coming out, and she is such a good member to have in the team. And her vocals is soooooo much better now.
JYP mentioned before trajectory, and not location - it means he is more concerned about what he envision they will become in the future, and not their skills even now.
I do agree that, in terms of the future development, these 6 will continue to evolve.
Gina is really good but she seems to be stuck in her place since a long time ago - she has been doing this for a long time even before JYP, and she has always been doing things that are very matured for her age, since a very young age.
So she is no a blank sheet of paper, or somebody with the versatility to be shaped to suit the direction of the group.
She also had almost no improvement during the whole A2k.
Now looking back, she is definitely good for her solo, but in this group, she likely will deviate further and further as the whole group grows, matures and evolves in concepts, while she continues to be stuck in her own mould. Unfortunately this was the signal she gave to JYP throughout A2k.
As for Christina, since halfway, I have a certain hunch that her character evaluation will not come back well. And i strongly believe that she was dropped at the end when JYP heard the strong sentiments from the trainers who felt that she had issues in that area.
Thus he repeatedly said, that he couldn't force the decision, as the evaluations came from everwhere.
The trainers raised enough red flags about her attitude during training and thats sufficient for JYP not to take the risk, for the good of the group.
I have my own observations about her behaviour during the entire show but it is not necessary to mention it further here. It is not to attack her.
Eventually this group may not be the most exciting as it could be, but it is stable and reliable, and prob can be shaped much more closely as a uniform identity along the direction of the company.
this is very in line with JYP's philosophy of long term growth.
Its a marathon, not a sprint, as JYP said himself again.

I don’t condone hating and bashing in Kendall at all. I think the fault completely lies with jyp and his blatant favourism for her. He was quick to point out the mistakes or things he didn’t like with Gina’s and Cristina’s performances that the audience couldn’t see, almost like he was setting them up for failure. But would straight up lie about Kendall’s singing and call her performance “ perfect “, which was what did it for me. You could tell how much he really wanted to push the idea of Kendall already making it to the audience, by saying that and that she got the list votes from trainers, but omitted get votes from the other girls, which makes me think that she was low it didn’t rank at all, cause he said both the trainer and team rankings for the other girls. If she hadn’t done all of that and actually provided her with constructive criticism in the parts that she was lacking im pretty sure wouldn’t see this gate train on her. For example KG is objectively the least trained dancer but her hard work she effort payed off, which warmed the viewers hearts, and he had previously always called her out on her dancing

Gina was a trainee at JYPE for 1 year and still couldn't improve on what JYP told her throughout the show, which is a very bad prognosis for the future. Look at the other contestants and their improvements in the areas they were pretty bad at, in a few months of training, as a comparison. Obviously, she didn't make it.
Cristina didn't excel at anything. She was kinda... neutral. That's probably what JYP has seen as well, compared to other contestants who made it.
Mischa was just too shy and quiet, and like someone commented under one of the first episodes of A2K - she's giving theatre kid vibes. Just not a kpop idol material, unfortunately. I feel like she would fall behind the other members too when i look at the final lineup.
Melissa dipped cause she found out mid-show that she's not really into teamwork i guess. Her interview made it a bit obvious. I personally think it was a very weird move to even audition for a kpop group if you knew it's not for you. It makes me think that she went there simply for clout, to showcase her vocals for her planned solo career. That's the only logical explanation i have for this kind of behavior. She didn't prepare in dance AT ALL for this show. Like, didn't even try, probably. Which only cements my impressions.
Kendall, the most hated on contestant, made it into the group because of her ability to express herself on stage, also her attitude and work ethics (evaluation from the staff), and of course she fits perfectly when it comes to visuals in a kpop group. Obvious choice. She can remain a sub vocalist like it happens in many groups and no one has an issue with that. With Kendall though, it is a problem of course 😂😂 And yes, JYP was probably set on her after the Sunmi performance. I would too, it was just amazing. I think the show editing did her dirty though, cause it showed her getting praised for everything even when she wasn't good enough to get praised. Kendall is on the receiving end and gets hate she doesn't deserve, it should be towards A2K producers, not Kendall.
People following kpop and watching these shows are usually so fucking biased that they can't see past that and never look at the groups or members chosen from a business perspective. All the members that were chosen for VCHA make sense and the choices are totally justified :
    1. Camila - very good voice, chill and caring, "mom" vibes
    2. Lexus - strong dancer, taking initiative, helpful for the members, keeping them focused
    3. Kendall - see above
    4. Savanna - another strong dancer, deeper voice, cheerful personality
    5. KG - best singer and multitalented when it comes to playing instruments, also songwriter which could help later
    6. Kaylee - adorable youngest with already decent vocal skills
It doesn't matter if some people don't agree with that or not, cause JYPE staff knows better who fits their group and who doesn't, we literally saw tiny snippets from the whole months long training period during the show and people are acting like they know shit about behind the scenes 😂You don't. There's always a reason for something happening.
Your comment on Gina > Kendall just proves what i said. You picked Gina over Kendall purely because of her dancing and singing skills, but not the "it" factor that kpop idols need to succeed. And Kendall has multiple times more of it and fits kpop more.
As for how it is now after the debut : people hating on Kendall during the show ? She's 2nd most popular in Korea now and they praise her a lot, a lot of progress on her dancing, very solid stage presence. KG ? Best vocals, plays instruments, huge improvement in dancing. Kaylee ? Great vocals at such a young age, people love her. Did i miss any "controversial" in some people's eyes picks for this group ? I think not.
Try being a bit more objective in judgement sometimes, it's really important in life to not always perceive everything based on your emotions.

      @TheKatiebugsTTV Год назад +9

I feel like there was a lot we didn't see that led to the Trainers giving certain people high rankings in the final character evaluations and others, not so-high ranks. For the Trainers to give such high ranks to Lexus and Kendall there had to be something. And considering JYP said the character evaluations had a lot to do with why Christina and Gina weren't chosen... again there had to have been something. These Trainers dealt with the girls alone. One by one. They saw a whole different side to them versus when they were in a group with each other. Also, character evaluations aren't just about how respectful you act. It could be your work ethic, how motivated you are, how well you take criticism, and how well you apply that criticism. And considering Gina was already a trainee IF she didn't meet the Trainers' expectations in comparison to some of the other girls that's going to affect her placement. I personally feel like her already being a trainee might have hindered her. If she came in as a fresh face like the others I don't feel like she would have had such a hard time. Her being a trainee made it hard for her to let go of that pressure and it very well could have placed her on an unfair pedestal in the minds of the trainers. If they felt she didn't exceed their expectations that's going to affect their decision and opinions.

I believe both of them were not robbed. Check out their character evaluations and the feedback that Gina got that she didn’t improve on. Christina’s fate was probably sealed during the character evaluation and her last performance(she said that she had a back injury so that made it harder for her to dance). Gina was constantly being told that she didn’t have the emotions behind her dancing(and singing) except for the Back Door performance. When she tried to show emotion, it looked unnatural and/or planned. At first I was trying to find out why I would drift off while watching her until JYP pointed out that she was emotionless. Obviously, she’s talented but talent can only take you so far. I feel like many of y’all saying that Gina was robbed forget how important improvised emotion is in KPop. Many KPop stars have fan cams that people edit especially based on the emotions they show. Obviously it’s not just about edits and whatnot but I hope you understand what I mean.

Kendall has the greatest star potential. Talent and overall looks is hard to beat. She can go solo. You can tell the girls were jealous of her in the beginning when she was ranked the lowest from all the other contestants.
