One of my early childhood memory ,Dad was borrowing one of these from a friend of his to take us with my mom to lake Balaton or it might have been the Hèvíz hotspring lake nearby for a day trip i was hunkering down above the engine in that small covered area and there was a policeman appearing and my folks have been throwing towels over me to hide me since it was only a two seater to avoid being fined this must have been around the late 60's
We need more town domesticated transport like this today...cheap reliable work...shopping transport... Tell me why does 1 person drives a big car around town Funny, but great video. Thank you for posting it
Saw one of these at the now-defunct MicroCar museum in Madison, Georgia. Honestly, I thought it was a home made affair. Somewhat crude. I like in this video how the door flies open at 1:40 Perfect example of how rear hinge doors are dangerous. Great video
Yes. In fact, the principle of the canvas "hood" is inspired by the cover (canvas cover) of old aircraft - the designer Mojmír Stránský was totally deployed in the aircraft engine repair shop during World War II. In 1945 he had a "tricycle" patented under the name "Motor tricycle" and in 1947 he was already producing tricycles for those interested under the name Os-kar (cart on the axle). The disabled were particularly interested (the cooperative of the disabled supported production), pensioners and young people. In 1956, the name Os-kar was changed to Velorex (King of Wheels). The communist system subsequently removed the designer Mojmír Stránský from the events surrounding this cheap means of transport...
When I was around 4 years old (in 1980) I saw one when it hitting the road. I was a big boy already I wasn't scared of cars or such things but man, it was so fast and so loud and was some of the skin was fluttering in the wind. I was a bit scared. I never see anything like that before. I remember that moment. I was wondering is that an "animal car" or what???

I have a Velorex - trust me the door is about the least dangerous thing on them :-) In any case the hinge is not the problem, the catch is .
Actually, that’s just the air conditioning.
you mean 2.16 ????
A great vehicle!! Hello from Colombia!!
La primera vez en mi vida que veo ese modelo buenisima ok
Unique and beautiful 😊👍
Super pojazd pięknie odrestaurowany.😃👌
Not seen one of these before, interesting concept.
Kinda like it,its quirky.
And the air brake that doubles as a door, well thats genius!😂
Utilitarian design is so commie!
Fajny pojazd z silnikiem jawa. Mój tata miał taki -fajne czasy
Najładniejszy stylistycznie trójkołowy microcar jaki powstał w ogóle. Jest genialny.
Bardzo niedoceniany pojazd!
Woww what a beautiful condition! Gratulacje! ! :-))
., velice pěkná renovace. Náš Velorex!!!. Bohužel mnoho hlupáků z polska označuje naše Velorexy za vlastní výrobu a ještě se tu přou o pravdu.
The front reminds me of the body of a silver cross pram 😊 brilliant...
