Something that always helped me with freshwater crays here in the USA is to use two hands: the first hand twirls fingers in front of them while the other hand moves slowly in from behind. It makes the snatch that much easier because the cray is focused on your twirling fingers.

@@MuddyFeet even the old red bricks with the small holes in them, stack 2 high in a square for water flow with a gap and the cray's hide inside. Make cosy home for them mate.
