Cheap Citroën C6 Project 19: The C6 is FIXED? (Oh no it isn't!) Boost leak? Exhaust leak?

  • The C6 developed what I believed to be a boost leak on the last trip abroad, and has been nursing it ever since. Time to find it and fix it, before taking it abroad once more....right?

    This has just reminded me of the time in 1986 when I cut open a baked beans can, wrapped it around my Mk2 Escort's mid section, slabbered it in gumgum and tightened it up with 4 large jubilee clips.
    It passed an MOT and a trade-in inspection with flying colours. Zero shame and zero f***s given.
    I'm also hoping that The Citroen Whisperer up in Scotland can fit my shiny new undertray (that's been in my garage for 6 or 7 years) in the month ahead.
    Lastly, I feel your DPF pain but do let me know where you saw the cheap replacements.
    Lastly x2....glad you're no longer selling it.

    Make sure you check the Eolys fluid level. It is only calculated, not level sensor. It can run out before it warns you and cause DPF blocking. DPF's for PSA cars are cheap because the catalytic converters (the really expensive stuff) is separated from the DPF.

When I took it off it was datestamped 94, the same year the car was made. Nobody would believe it was the original as there was no paperwork to suggest and I doubt anyone kept a backbox on the shelf for that long!

    Dpf filters blocking is normally a sign of something else is wrong. Having a exhaust leak before the filter will give incorrect pressure readings for the dpf sensor ie low pressure at the sensor. This will lead to a miss calculation of soot loading at the ecu. And no self regen. Fixing the exhaust leak means the ecu can now see correct filter pressure ie high. After market dpf filters are pants. Run cleaner or 2 through it and see if the pressure comes down.

  • @alphaLONE
    @alphaLONE Год назад +1

    Ahhh the DPF... I've had that clogging issue with a cracked manifold on an i-CTDi Civic. It's vicious because the leak causes lessened flow through the filter and since it doesn't heat up as much, it clogs itself more, which aggravates whatever leak is present upstream of the DPF. I appreciate antipollution equipment (DPF/SCR) for the work they do but god damn do they spell migraines once they start behaving. I wonder if, now that you've patched up the leak, if running it calmly at highway speeds for like over hour would heat the filter up enough that it could regenerate on its own. Or if you could run a forced regen through some software gizmo.
    Look on the flip side though: you won't need to take the engine out to replace the filter on this car! Already a huge win compared to some other cars (cough cough civic 8)
