    If you are not giving Lester a standing ovation, you don't know what he just did. Most of us will never see our 100th birthday. I know some great athletes that died in their late 90s. Second, most 100-year-old birthday parties that I have seen the honorary had to be wheeled in in a wheelchair. So hats off for running 100m in under 30 seconds. I do feel for the winner of the race. Age-Centric Focus: Your comment emphasizes the person's age (100 years old) as the primary factor behind the emotional reaction. While it's perfectly reasonable to be moved by such an achievement, focusing solely on age may inadvertently contribute to age-related stereotypes or reinforce the idea that older individuals are only remarkable because of their age.
      Potential Generalization: While your comment doesn't generalize negatively, there is a risk that some readers might interpret it as implying that all 100-year-olds should be equally celebrated for similar achievements. In reality, individuals vary widely in their abilities and accomplishments, regardless of age.

    • @iche9373
      @iche9373 11 месяцев назад

      The statement "100 years old, and still kicking" is generally meant to be positive and celebratory, rather than a form of ageism. It's used to highlight and applaud someone's longevity and vitality at an advanced age, suggesting that they are still active and engaged in life despite reaching the age of 100. However, it's important to remember that the perception of age and aging can vary among individuals, and some people may find such statements patronizing or potentially reinforcing stereotypes about older individuals. The intent and context in which such statements are made play a significant role in determining whether they are viewed as positive or potentially ageist.
