      @@trevorhuss2730 basically once its running youre going to give it some throttle or blip the gas to see if it stumbles, hesitates (slow throttle rrsponse) or revs but doesnt return to normal idle. Then youre going to give it 1 full turn in the direction that feels natural to you of the adjuster and hit the throttle sgain. If it responds the same as before repeat until theres a noticable difference. At some point youre going to go from stumbling to not idling back down or vice versa. At that point youre going to turn the adjuster the opposite direction 1/2 turn. And check again. Then it will be back and forth adjusting, throttle, adjusting until you find the sweet spot whete there is no hesitation and it returns to idle almost immediately.

    Hello! Could you help me please. I need new wheel rims and I want to set up bigger one. Which one I have to choose? What is offset of wheels?

    • @southernyankeehomestead3230
      @southernyankeehomestead3230  Год назад

      I don't know how much help I can be. Tire size is standard across the Ozark 250's and there isn't much room for a larger tire dimensionally. Width wise if you could find one bigger it shouldn't be a problem.
      As far as offset, Google is going to be your best bet.

    Great video - have you had to replace the electric starter motor? I need to replace mine and can't figure out where it is.

    • @southernyankeehomestead3230
      @southernyankeehomestead3230  2 года назад

      No. I haven't had any starter issues so I haven't had to change it. But, if I remember correctly the starter is under the carb. I could be wrong though. Your easiest way to find where it is will be tracing the positive wire from the battery. It should go directly to the starter.

      I don't really show them because they are just gender rivets for a Nissan. They'll be available at most auto parts stores in the fastener section. If need be I can grab the number I used next time I'm at the parts store. (Which is quite often)

    Make sure that oil is wet clutch oil otherwise you will burn the clutch out and have all sorts of clutch slippage

      And I hope you changed your fuel out in the process. Running old fuel through the carb won't help.

      As far as tuning I didnt touch any adjustments on the carburetor other than the idle adjustment. That will be the little white turn knob with the cable attached. Once I had the ATV running I would turn the screw until it would idle correctly (not stall when off the throttle) at this point I ran the engine until it was up to temperature and continued turning the knob until a blip on the throttle wouldnt have hesitation and would return to idle quickly. There is a sweet spot where it will idle down after revving with out hanging high and where the engine wont hesitate or bogg down when you give it throttle. That's what you're looking for.

    Replaced with an Amazon carb. Runs stronger but has some backfire through the carb and dies. Sometimes hard to start. When it’s running and I pull the choke on it dies. Also idles funny. Sometimes it idles really fast. I turn the the knob on the bottom to the left to slow it down and it works, but then it dies. Sometimes the quad runs really strong but surges and dies.

    • @southernyankeehomestead3230
      @southernyankeehomestead3230  2 года назад +2

      The idle adjustment (the knob you're turning) needs a blip of the throttle between adjustments. If you just turn it and don't blip the throttle it doesn't adjust very well. You need to adjust it until it idles down to normal range and doesn't slowly rev down.
      Next thing I would look at is your tank filter. On the side of the gas tank is the switch for your reserve/prime/ standard to the carb. (Should always be in "s") It's held in with 2 screws. Drain the tank and check the screens. While it's out that may be a good time replace the fuel line, vacuum line(if it didn't come with the new carb) and flush the tank to make sure any debris is clear.
      And finally... Did you change or check the oil? In the event the diagram has gone bad or the switch was left on prime (P) on the tank then the fuel will over fill the carb and run back into the engine and dilute the oil. When that happens it will warm up and as it warms up it will run badly and if it's diluted too much stall out. If your oil is over full it has been draining gas into the oil.
      Hope this helps.
