"I knew he was drugging the other horses"
DrFlaggstaff ME 💀
Right
me too!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol!
saw this special in my mid teens and it has been the most impactful 45 minutes of entertainment ever on my life. changed the way I thought about the world and introduced me to critical and objective thinking. Still come back to it every once in awhile for nostalgia purposes, there are a lot of valuable life lessons in this special.
here I am again
@@nGUNNARp
Same.
Connor and Garnt were right. This show is amazing.
heck yeah
they were damn right
This is probably the most important video on the internet.
I thought he was shining lasers in the other horse's eyes lmao
Trash Taste represent✌️
sameeeee
Ayo sup fam
Wassap homie HAHAHAHAHHA
Wht does that mean ?
41:46. "I will cry until I die". Darren's reaction! lmao!!!
Aside from the video and great content Derren produces, those poor horses... I have watched a documentary that goes into what buying a racehorse is like and how they train them and it is absolutely grueling. They get whipped, slapped, spurred, kicked, anything you could imagine that involves punishment vs reward happens. Some racehorse trainers are more gentle than others but my gosh.. Not to mention if a horse, especially a racehorse, breaks a leg they are often killed due to the lengthy healing process and work involved in rehabilitating a horse... It's absolutely horrible, no animal should be used for sport.
It is quite an ugly sport
Thank you!!! I absolutely DESPISE horse racing, and so many people don't want to believe the truth! At work once, literally the whole office were going to some big horse race, all showing off their posh outfits and silly fascinators, so I anonymously created a simple poster with a picture of a race horse with a broken leg, and some simple facts about horses that had died in recent races, together with the sources. It had about 5 facts on it, no accusatory language, no ''think twice'', no ''This is horse racing'', literally not a single thing anyone could find offensive. My own manager, (I overheard her when she saw it on the noticeboard next to the betting sheets) went ape shit. "Someone's doing this to spite me!!" she screamed. They had me in the office when they found out it was me who put it there. It was 'fun' explaining to her that no, it really wasn't about her. SMH. 🤦♀People go crazy to defend animal abuse because they want to pretend it doesn't exist.
Can't believe I thought I was going to win a horse race bet after watching this, what the heckle peckle!!
Mikey Burford I know I'm being lied to, but he say I'm gonna let you in on the system to win on national television, I wanna believe,
No, no, the whole point is to get you to watch the show.
That's the real magic trick.
Getting your wallet through your heart.
I mean you can make a scam out of it. First horse is free but "give me 10% of the winnings and I'll give you the next winner"
It's a shame more people don't watch derren brown. His views are minimal in RUclips
He's on national TV in the UK and in some other countries in Europe. I'm certain many people watch him.
I agree. My logic on this is that, very few people are interested or curious enough to watch videos which are mainly about psychology. Just look at the trending tab and see what interests people most.
If you're in the UK, then of course people would know him and watch him (albeit on their tv subscriptions, not necessarily on RUclips) I lived in Scotland for five years, and I knew about him from watching him on TV, but here in the US people just haven't heard of him. Although I think I read that he's now just done some of his shows in the US this past year so that should increase interest in Derren Brown
I only just found out about him, am pretty addicted now.
@@GaeiusGutierrez psychology is a brilliant genre. Human behaviour, outdated experiments, too unethical to be carried out now, human reactions etc. Recently discovered the channel, ‘what would you do’..[WWYD]it’s an American abc presentation that shows people’s reactions, I recommend.
Another creative performance depicting how limited and narrow one individual's view or perspective of reality is, and how it can be used to trick someone or even change his/her strongly held beliefs. You're the greatest illusionist! Thank you Derren Brown. I'm from the Philippines btw
Probably my favorite thing of all the specials Derren has made.
who's here from Trash Taste?
This was an expensive show to make.
Gambling is even more expensive in the looooooooooooong run!
Not really. A lot of people won on Naunton at 1:18 so would have been serious +++
Considering how the first batch was recommended to not bet at all and the second and third were slowly increasing because they were testing waters, I highly doubt it was that expensive.
The problem were the last 5 that lost.
41:45 I love how Derren's reaction is like 'well damn I'm not the one who put 4 grand on this horse, you crazy for putting that type of money on this. Nothing to do with me'
Harry Seth ikr
41:45 Derren's face was priceless when he realized hes just done "The Push" to himself
By murdering horses for his show?
James Baker well he didn’t murder any horses for his show he just had film of horse races that were already going on regardless of him. They are horrid but derren didn’t make them do this for sport.
I never saw The Push but that facial expression really was priceless.
Reminds me of The Office.
What i love about this episode, that derren was successfully made me believe that there was a system that really works. This was the trick derren made that would remind us that the interpretation of our own realities wether to accept if or not might be from the fruit of the lies of others. Thanks darren! Such a great work!
I saw this years ago and have been thinking about it ever since.
I use to fall for subjective bullshit all day long... until Derren Brown trick or treated me.
I was going to ask which you were, but that would be telling, wouldn't it...?
I cannot believe he had the gaul to ask her if she would be upset.
@@loreziogt1933 Are you joking?
My guess... he placed 4 bets, one on each of 4 horses to win. I don't know which ticket he gave her initially, but even if he gave her a losing ticket, he could easily switch it at the end. So, the Derren Brown show pays for the bets, and the show loses probably about $15K.
No clue on how he did the middle part... unless he did the same experiment 1.4 billion times!
In the end, he bet on her behalf 4000 pounds on all the horses. This guarantees she will win the last round. Initially she thought she has lost because she picked the wrong horse, but if she thinks Brown has magically picked the right horse, disregard her choice, so to let her win, then she obviously hasn't learned a thing from this experience.
The final trick
Yeah he should have been clear that he placed a bet on all the horses. At least for the audiences sake
Then why did he give her the winning horse's slip if he had four and didn't know which one would win?
@@RampageG4mer She held the betting slip for Moon Over Miami. Derren held the other 3 betting slips in his pocket. In the event she won (a 1 in 4 chance), she would've celebrated. In the more likely event she lost (far better for tv entertainment purposes), he asks to see her betting slip, shakes his head, confirms her loss and then hands her back the betting slip, except he uses sleight of hand to give her the winning ticket. A simple trick for a master card-sharp like Derren. This last bit was edited out, of course. Watch the race again, watch her reaction, watch the aftermath. The whole thing was heavily edited. We believe what we want to believe, but the simplest explanation is often the correct one.
Well she's a woman. Chances were really low she'd learn a thing from getting free money.
Hi Derren, I watched this video in 2011 for the first time. Loved to watch again on RUclips now.
Please come up with more new videos. You are an awesome trickster.
trash taste brought me here D:
this was an awesome episode, watched it countless of times, super creative episode (Y)
*_This is honestly fantastic content. Derren you are a legend. I'm so happy you upload these full episodes to RUclips or else I would never have been able to see it. Half of my family lives in England and my Dad is English but I was born here in the States so I'm watching from Sacramento, California. I'm looking forward to your next show! -Tremain Hayhoe_*
you dont need to sign your posts this is not 2001 you idiot
Who came from the bois from trash taste?
Ngl this episode is better than now you see me 1 and 2 combined
Brilliant... as usual. Thanks so much.
Thank you Connor.
i saw this episode years ago and i think about it from time to time. now that i'm watching it, it's even better than i remember.
I think the clip at the end of each video hypnotizes me to watch more
beautifully well done - I'm beginning to understand the process
I love British TV. Derren is unmatched and uncontested in his class. Absolutely love watching him all the way from Canada
Darren’s talent is using misdirection, and sleight of hand, to make his impossible feats seem possible. Whenever he explains a trick, there’s always something he’s not telling you. Sometime he outright lies. Even though I guessed the method to the solution immediately he was still very entertaining to watch. He’s a showman and an entertainer for sure, but can never be trusted.
Derren's trick? That's what ALL magic/ mentalism is.
(okay, maybe not all, but certainly the vast majority).
I'm guessing you're a struggling magician who does children's parties
How did he do the photo selection trick?
Pretentious, but accurate.
What the heck is anyone trusting Derren Brown for?! Lol!!!
I guessed that there would be lots of participants involved for him to get this to work.
Holy goddamn hell this is so freakin hype af
Very cool interesting video 👍
35:38: Imagine if he just ran off with the money.
*Directed by Derren Brown*
Watched this in high school. Back because I'm making a video analyzing it because its so good
love this
Amazing stuff
The piece that I still don't understand is with the photos and the racing officials - did he just set up thousands of stunts like that one until one worked? That seems absurd. So it must have been an illusion or a misdirection (and a great trick) but then what does that have to do with the point he's making in explaining the system?
It’s a trick and it was just about how he was saying the odds of that happening are absurd ect ect, it’s just part of the show
Anyone else coming here from Trash Taste?
law of large numbers/ loved it .Darren you are a genius to make a mathematical principal into such an engaging and beautiful show. thank you
Beautiful
So I worked out how he did the scene with the Polaroids. He filmed it 1.48 billion times until he got the result he predicted.
Exactly
Amazing, I love Derren!
You are amazing mate
You are my man Derren!
Derren bought 4 tickets for the 6th race, the winning horse ticket with a swift hand movement he gave to Kadisha, £12000.- of his own and £4000.- her money.
He bought 5 tickets because there were 5 horses. And he didn't pay it, BBC did because this was their production.
I'd like to see a break down of what you did to sort through the bookies/race people for the polaroid warehouse scene.
I show this to my math students every year when we study statistics!
I just love this guy...just think about how many people he saved from "system's"...just...the bad ass Brain always works, just use it...!
Thank You Darren !!!
Fantastic Derren
I remember back in 2011 I downloaded 24gb in Derren Brown's videos! Watched them all with great pleasure as I'm an illusionist myself, love psychology and showing how things work x) - btw, how did you guys come to know him??
searched up russian roulette XD
He was recommended by Observe. A body laughed reading channel.
3 weebs in a podcast talk about him and now i have alot of things to watch
@@laughingstock6078 lmao yes best internet weebs
@@laughingstock6078 same lol
The system is a metaphor for success under capitalism. Just because you see people who "worked hard and made money", doesn't mean that people who didn't make money didn't also work hard
Is that different from success under any other system?
I bet he just bet on every horse at the end and swapped out the ticket wouldn't have cost me a dime
This deserve more views
Intresting
He didn't explain how he predicted the exact polaroids that the people chose, did he do that same test 1000 times in order to get a successful one?
Derren Brown lucked out on the winner: he couldn't have counted on someone so charming, who would be so gracious about it all
Makes sense. I initially thought they chose a black woman for marketing purposes.
Haven't seen the end yet. Would have been funny if she lost it though.
I remember there was an old "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episode that centered around a man winning a series of bets by following this same "system." The memory of that episode spoiled the big reveal at the end of this video for me, but I will say that it's a brilliant concept and that it really caught me by surprise the first time I heard how it works!
Derren brown shows are best in class
I am in love with this episode. And I always wondered, did Derren do the exact same thing with the end bets?
Bet 4k on all the horses and slip her the winning ticket? We'll probably never know, but I think he used the system in the system :P
i _love_ your videos derren i also to watch u on tv keep uploading videos i hoep u i'll get more views and subscribers love from india
I wonder why you removed the part in the original broadcast where you revealed you bet the same bet on all the horses, it doesn't take away anything from the episode.
Oh. He did?
I would have bet he didn't, because I assumed he likes money far too much to use that strategy.
Hmm.
@@chillingongreens its a tv show and the bets were only 20 grand total. They have a budget way higher than that
So it's similar to the saying "ask 100 girls for sex, and at least 1 will agree". It doesnt matter how many times you fail, it's only necessary to highlight when you succeed
If Moon Over Miami would have won they wouldn't have shown the part where she finds out the ticket wasn't for it.
Just because I found your videos I started with hypnosis and NLP
Same here. not actually started because of he's videos, had heard and had interest in it before, but he's videos showed me it actually works, time and time again and gave me confidence to try it for myself. (After watching many other more educational videos and reading a book or two, of course).
Feel free to visit HypnoKick.com if interested in free weekly hypnosis lessons. Hope it helps :)
So, I guess he invited 4 people who knows how many times, until the order in the envelope, the photos, the initials and number in the back matched...outsanding. Awesome documentary by the way, one of my all time favorites.
I think he did something else for that segment. Like they demonstrated, the odds of that segment were 1 in 1.5 Billion, which is soooo much more difficult to achieve than the 1/1024 for the coin flip and the process of elimination used for the horse racing. By the process he created for "the system" it was guaranteed that there would always be one person for that final race.
Legend
Derren is a champ. Very intelligent guy
The Boyzzzzz
Best mentalist ever!!!!
Ahh, the wonders and woes of chance
Você é muito bom
The system: Have you tried just being lucky?
I dont know if i would scream "Thanks you, The System!" at a Bookie..might end up with hammer to the knee..
41:37 Derren is briefly struck behind the heart over his conscious swallowing the pill she won’t win
She managed to say “That’s not right doing that” inbetween her squeals of joy 🤣 She didn’t like you winding her up and she was going to let you know. Reality stays cold hard cash
Any new shows to upload apart from good ones from back in a day?/
Fantastic.
I don't speak english so good but i understood the most of the video.
If you'll Think to come in Italy, maybe one day, you'll must come to have dinner by me and my wife, at home.
Promised.
The intro music is amazing, does anyone knows what is it from?
Haha I knew it would be a misdirect. Well played for fooling the people who did not expect it haha
All the people on there were actors including the winning lady. There's a sign that gives it all away.
Biggest surprise, it only took nine hours to get 10 heads in a row.
That is how those investment newsletters work.. people, or personS rather, think they are all subscribing to the same newsletter. And are encouraged to bring in new subscribers ...
This doesn’t really explain how he predicted the people in the room though, right? Because he would’ve had to have tried that scene a crazy amount of times in order for that to be the same method.
paid actors maybe?
He says they're all experts.
Ily ,
shame this is a re upload. I've already seen this one. I was hoping it was a new one. :(
That is possibly the most magnificent, most maddening, most frightening thing I've ever watched. So, in the end, Darren put six 4K pounds bets and gave the 'winner' that ticket. That's quite a production budget. If I had a dime for every time I said, Wow, I'd be rich. Incredible.
Yeah and on every round they gave a refund to all losing bets. Most likely hundreds of thousands pounds budget.
41:46 that reaction is so hilarious
Got it within the first 5 minutes,
That music triggeres me cause it sounds like my alarm
Ok.. how about 1342 and choosing sequence. They picked up photographs until right ones are taken? 17:32
@3:47 She's seeing money already... :P
Exactly
Salute to your observation 😂
hey, it's not impossible, it's "just" highly inevitable. :''')
Yes yes yes
Derren, you are so evil.
I love you no less.
Why this not available in uk 🇬🇧
"It's an animal, you can't set it." Lol horses are set to lose nearly every race
Wait... did they really bet 4.000 £ on every horse and did he swap the winning ticket at the end ? x)
He just explained how he did it, so, pretty sure that's what they did. It's not bad actually, they only had to bet 12k plus the 4k she brought, to win 13k, it was basically like those prize winning shows, where the prize cost was 12k to the show budget, and prize wined by Khadisha was 9k (13k - 4k). They wasted 3k in order to have the shocking ending, instead of just giving the 12k to her directly, plus her own 4k. It's not that big of a prize for a TV show if you think about it.
Only one person gambled for 4000 and that person won
Olivier Swiffer maybe they did that!
i thought exactly that- think he swapped her ticket without her noticing?
sunshine201063 I wouldn't be surprised.
He's a sneaky one.
Teach me your ways. Im the one man. 😎💯
Realy magic with Derren !
