It was a great move, but as messi fan I have to admit defenders was so naive to allow messi to run like that and receive that ball with no one even close to him, being there in that situation, messi will score 99 times out of 100. Top defenders in the world are scanning for possible receivers, they defend the receivers, with a fast quick look to the player with the ball, they used to touch the attackers while watching the possible assist, so if they move, they instantly knows and starts to follow them trying to make it impossible for them to receive or at least to avoid an easy kick.

The awareness of Messi is on another level. Look at 0:35, he keeps checking his surroundings, seeing which positions the opposition's defenders are in and working around that. He instantly takes an acceleration as he notices that there is space because the defenders are dragged wide from his other teammates. He always knows where to be. Right place right time - and its not a coincidence. It's just pure talent. Absolutely beautiful finish from the first goal, it seams easy, but the awareness of the players and the place that he positions himself in, just makes this goal one million times better.

Messi fooled the entire back line with both scoring runs he made. He starts slow, makes himself look like less of a threat, and once he’s lost their attention just vanishes. And his teammates have picked up on this strategy very well. He and Serg are doing a great job teaching their teammates to think outside the box and it’s showing.
