Don Cherry is great. Even if you disagree with certain points he makes, at least he's still outspoken and doesn't shy away from arguing his point. None of that sissy "we can't hurt anybody's feelings" BS with all the media training they put on athletes. Talk to a frigging reporter for 15 minutes and say absolutely nothing besides the usual platitudes. Blegh. Fuck it, where is Bryzgalov?
Cherry is right. Let's not see hockey look like the NFL where every play is celebrated like they just won the Super Bowl. Be happy sure, but act like it's not your first success in this world. Be men, not clowns.
Yeah that wasn’t showboating. That was a moment of relief after the animosity of that game and series. A “FUCK YOU” - try and beat us after that, game over, bat flip.
Great point Grapes is making here! And great analogy tying-in traditions in baseball to traditions in hockey that the general public do not understand.
I don't understand how people don't like people who don't talk PC (I call it talking corporate). You don't have to think about what he "possibly" means.
@@Windyyyyyyyyy I’m a lifelong Padres fan and while the grandstanding is a little overblown, it’s a new generation and for those of us that have suffered, we’re enjoying the ride, haters be damned.
Baseball has now lost a lot of this tradition too, and Don is right that there's good reason for the old traditions. Now you have a bunch of prima donna guys in baseball that don't even run to first when they hit the ball hard, and they end up looking like idiots and hurt their team if it doesn't quite clear the wall. Little league players would be trashed for that in the old days, now the pros do it. Crazy how some things have changed. The players of today mostly could not stand with the players of the past in most of the team sports, because their heart is not in the game in the same way. In Basketball few players ever even try to block dunks anymore because they don't want to be on the bad end of a poster, a business decision they call it. It's business now mostly, ego, and spoiled high skilled players that don't have nearly the same kind of grit, will and passion to win in all the team sports. So many of the young players today are just out to make themselves some money more than anything. Their own stardom, the star players are a brand themselves now is how they think, team is secondary, and fans, just a means to make some money. Even look at Lebron, not even close to the kind of loyal and dedicated team player that Jordan was. Team sports are not nearly what they once were.
So i'm a hockey fan but I have recently gotten into baseball. I went to my first game a couple of months ago so i'm still a really new fan. Can someone tell me what was wrong with what that guy did? To me it looked like he just gave his teammate a high five. What is wrong with that exactly?
He stood at homeplate for aboot 5 seconds. That's about 4.5 seconds too long. Hit your homerun and act like it happends all the time is what your suppost to do.
I've got an idea why it happened that hockey changed its tradition for rookies. Some organization pushes hockey on the American people (American as opposed to Canadian). This organization originally tried to push soccer on the American people, during the eighties beginning in 1978. They failed. Then they tried to find out why the failed and tested their ability to push something on the American people. They chose hockey for the test and succeeded. While they push hockey on the American people, they force hockey to change in favor of US taste and in favor to accomodate US players.
I'd pretty much given up watching TV from the US side of the border except Hockey Night in Canada, then they got rid of Don Cherry. Well, that was it for me! Too many good books to read.
Bobby Orr would score and have his head down showing total class or Gordie Howe also was calm and emotionless. Total class acts. Gretzky and Lemieux acted classless many times bring on the crap we see today.
It's good for the game to see players with emotion after scoring a goal. These players work their nuts off to stay in the NHL and if they wanna celebrate getting a goal they should!
you have to figure that most of the kids are 18 and not yet at their physical peak... hockey players arent supposed to be built like football players theyd look too bulky and awkward... they rely on cardio

Bench press doesn't equal athleticism. Trust me. Thats one very small element if it. If you were going to take something liked that and use it as a marker for athleticism then I bet an average hockey player can run,do crunches, leg press etc more than the average baseball player. Just saying theres a hell of alot more to it. Btw I doubt must nhl players can't lift 150 on bench more than ten times.
he always did, it is just his vernacular for talking about an opposing side of a conversation. The soft lefties just needed something to cry about yet again
...not only is he injured and still leading the league in points but he is also one of the best two way centres in the game. I don't know if you watch hockey, because you say you haven't seen crosby used in a defensive role... happens all the time. That's what centres do. If his defensive game wasn't there then why would he have a +26 plus/minus??
At the conbine it's not your tipical bench. They have to bench to a beat. Slowly go up, and hold, then slowly go down and hold. That's hard. Like stated already in the comments hockey players don't really need bench in the first place
Even also baseball have asia to play in baseball than a hockey, in hockey doesn't have asian to play hockey, Very fews, but not improve enough, only basic and middle class hockey level they have it, it's not very easy, that's hard to play hockey on the ice!.. baseball is very easy to play, it's better prove and much fun, hockey doesn't much fun, they always much fighting!..

Somewhere there’s a old Chinese man saying to his grandkids “let me tell you about this American soldier”
