You have to laugh. Asking an airborne division to surrender just because they are surrounded. Men literally trained to drop in behind enemy lines, their very job is to be surrounded.

Great channel and nice to see someone with a history background reacting to Sabaton

Shiroyama is one that gets overlooked.

I heard that a ww2 vet went to one of their concerts and asked them to play this song, so they changed the previously made set list to include this song. The guys are so cool, they care alot about their fans, and actually take time to listen to ther fans.

So recently I started playing Bolt Action, the WWII tabletop game, with some friends. One night I was texting back and forth with one of my buddies who was in the 82nd about what forces we were going to be building for the game. I had just bought a US airborne box set and couldn't resist pulling his leg a bit. I told him, "I'm thinking of painting them up as the 101st. Those guys are like the best airborne right, absolutely top tier?". The wall of text I received back explaining how the 82nd was always the best, both in WWII and currently, and always would be was epic.

My grandfather was assigned to the 101st pretty much right when the battle of Bastone started. They were waiting for the weather to clear up enough to parachute in reinforcements, however Patton got there first.

I was that one kid who watched more WW2 documentaries than cartoons like it was just so intriguing to me and i don't know why

As an aside I have to tell a bit of story. I'm retired Air Force as was stationed in Germany in the 90s. We took a tour to Bastogne and the Battle of the Bulge memorial and later went to have lunch at a little village nearby. (Sorry, tearing up) Anyway while our group was in a little café something made a bunch of us look up as this elder gentleman made a misstep and crashed into the street. Immediately he was surrounded by about a dozen of us who helped him and checked him over. (I dusted off his hat and handed it back to him :) ) He suddenly got this huge grin as he looked at each of us... "American's, yes?" We nodded and his grin suddenly got twice as big. "Ah yes, American's! You were here to help us in 1945 and you are still helping us today" and he shook each of our hands and thanked us again and walked away. Needless to say getting out swelled heads back on the bus later was a bit of a chore but I have to admit that while I'm proud of my service in general this was one of the top things I will always be proud of.

If you think about it, Sabaton are modern day bards.

One of their songs that really gets me going is Ghost Devision. The sheer tactical skill and aggression that Rommel has with the way that he does battle amazes me. Plus it is a nice song that has some power to it.

When you do To Hell and Back, you will probably recognize the lyrics - they borrowed from Audie Murphy's poem "Crosses Grow on Anzio"

Their history episode of this cracks me up. Indy gives the audience a very accurate eagle “screech”.

When hearing of the "Nuts" reply, Patton is said to have ordered harder attacks commenting that "We must save such an eloquent man."

I served in the 101st as a combat medic, I love this song. the 101 really pushes its history. Loved Sabaton since I discovered them. Thanks for doing these.
