Another mind-blowing fact about de Wiart: during the interwar period he lived in Poland and was given a "lonely wooden house on an island surrounded by water and forests" in Pinsk Marshes which are now in Belarus. He spent there about 15 years hunting ducks, in the middle of nowhere. This period in his life he called ,,Happy Odyssey" :)

The music video, yes, it's on the silly side. But isn't that pretty much perfect for him, and for this song? Sabaton always make sure that the music fits the story, we have seen that over and over again. The slow march into death in "The price of a mile.", the frantic push forward with "Ghost division" and the epicness of the great battle with Bismarck. And now this. Adrian loved war, he thought war was fun. So, Sabaton made a fun song for his story. As it should be. But isn't it also as it should be to make a fun music video then? I think that video portrays the mindset of Adrian perfectly.
EDIT: I would not be surprised also if that fun feeling you get from this song is what turns some people off with this one. They are not expecting joy to be the feeling coming from a Sabaton song.
EDIT2: Or it could be that Sabaton really doesn't like Indy... :p

But his worst injury came when sneakily attacked by an unsecured coconut mat, which broke his back in the resultant case of stair-surfing. Fortunately the surgery to brace two broken verterae gave the surgeons the opportunity to relieve him of a large quantity of lead and iron shrapnel which he had been carrying around for some time. He also had a couple of major riding accidents and 5 or 6 aircraft crashes, from one of which he, aged 60, one handed and blind in one eye, rescued an injured crewmember and hauling him along, swam to the land which was just in sight. On landing he did suffer his only personal defeat, being captured by the Italians, but got his own back by undermining the castle in which he and other high-value allied officers were held as POWs, escaping through the tunnel and somehow evading capture for 8 days in the Florentine countryside, despite being beyond any possibily of effective disguise (63, fair skinned, one handed, badly scarred and wearing an eye patch) and not speaking a word of Italian.

Folks, if you're able and you're not supporting the channel on Patreon, you really should consider it. That's not something I say lightly. I have to really strongly believe in something to do something like this, but this channel is something special, so I've chosen to support it. I know I'm not the only one that feels that it's special. There's a tier that costs as little as $3 per month. That's 10 cents a day. I know everyone can't do it, and that's fine. I'm not trying to guilt trip anyone. I'm not in a position to do a lot, and you might not be either, but if it's possible for you to do something, at least consider it. I think Chris has earned that much from us, and think about what we'll gain from the videos that would come from trips like the France trip he just took. I really feel like we all win.

What you said about following Carton de Wiart over the trenches: many soldiers he commanded, weren't too happy being under his command. He was ruthless when it came towards charging german lines during those WW1-battles. Since he was fatalistic (he believed he had no influence whatsoever about the time, place and way he would die), he expected his soldiers to be as aggressive as he was. In his memoires he even said that he only took a cane into battle, no side-arm, since he didn't trust himself not shooting his own troops for not going over the edge when it was time to charge forward. So many soldiers disliked his presence, since it meant they couldn't slack a bit.

He remarked of his time commanding that he never carried a pistol with him, as he was sure he was likely to shoot the men under his command for cowardice. That said, his cane became quite a motivational tool.

Nice Rangers shirt. My favourite Scottish team. Rangers and Celtic are 2 giants that never get the credit they deserve. Nice Sabaton song. Sabaton and Ghost are 2 giants that never get the credit they deserve.
