- In this video we’re installing the Extreme Duty Vinyl
from Pontoon Stuff. This is a thick layer of vinyl with a felt backing, making it great for fishing pontoons, work pontoons (like this one in the video), and pontoons with moveable furniture like lawn chairs or patio chairs. It’s also a great option to get great flooring for a more affordable price. It’s easy to install and very low maintenance!

Cory: "You said Duty." Almost better than cavitation. Have a great day guys.
Haha, she will joke around about most anything…EXCEPT FOR CAVITATION! That’s a serious subject!!
OK thank you
I am redoing my floor as well but I have a raised floor for the helm and captains chair. How do you put the vinyl on that? I know it will need to be in more than one piece but I do not want it to appear as it was pieced together.
Was the raised deck for the console and stuff already there or did you build it up? If it was already there what was it previously covered with?
I'm going to refloor my father's pontoon this coming spring, and I would like to know your thoughts on which flooring you like best or would recommend. The woven or the extream duty vinyl??
I would go with the woven option 99% of the time. This one got extreme duty because it was a work barge, made for heavy loads and items being dragged on it. The woven option is far more comfortable on the feet for normal boating.
@@tomspontoons Thank you.
@@Silas-c9e Always happy to help! The price and durability of the Extreme Duty is exactly what some folks are looking for, but again, if you're looking for comfort and some style, then the woven is the best choice!
how did you order it that size i am confused
It’s the 8.5’ by 28’ vinyl roll or Kit. There’ll be some excess to cut when finished.
HI, LOVE YOUR VIDEO'S YOU DO GOOD work , i have a 18ft bass buggy dlx need new flooring besides carpet what vinyl flooring for budget guy can i get . please .
Thanks for watching our channel! Check out the extreme duty vinyl flooring from Pontoon Stuff. It’s super low maintenance and will hold up to all sorts of abuse.
Have the same flooring, but yellow spots have appeared on two different boats not long after installing. Have you seen anything like that. Have tried all the vinyl cleaners on one of them and the spots will not off. Any suggestions?
Is it the same flooring from Pontoon Stuff? Or another brand?
I haven’t seen the yellow come through on their flooring, but I have on other brands we’ve torn off.
Both from pontoon stuff
Probably worth an email with pictures sent over to Pontoon Stuff's customer service to see if they have any ideas.
Tom, another great video. Do you have any suggestions/options for the under skinning of the boat? Mine has aluminum sheets and it is very heavy and hard to remove and attach? Thanks!
I’ve said it in prior videos, my least favorite task on pontoons and Tritoons is underskinning. There’s no easy way to do it other than having two people. If it’s riveted every single rivet has to be drilled out. I’ll be underskinning the two boats I’m working on right now, so I’ll show that process in upcoming videos.
Thanks for watching!
@@tomspontoons Thank You!
@@scottburnworth2006 always happy to help!
Another great video. is there a reason you don't use a roller instead of the PVC pipe and cutting board? seems like it would be easier.
I’ve seen folks use a flooring roller and I’m sure it works well. I like to work the floor directionally with pressure to push any pockets of air out, then remove pressure to work another spot. My only fear with a roller would be moving bubbles around and not necessarily out to the edges as it’s constant pressure down no matter which direction you’re rolling.
Also, I’m a creature of habit, and while it might be a little more work, the PVC and cutting board has not let me down yet!!
Would this be the same process on a lowe with an aluminum floor? Just need a different adhesive?
Definitely need a solvent based adhesive. I prefer spray on options. And you’ll want to follow the steps that I do for the trowel on style working front to back in smaller sections so that the solvent can evaporate more evenly versus trying to adhere whole sides at once.

What are your thoughts on using EVA foam flooring in a pontoon?
Until they offer it in full sizes without seams I wouldn’t want it on my own boat. I’ve seen it on pontoons in the 4x8 sheets and it peels. There’s a lot of movement and motion on a pontoon and the seams tend to let go as movement happens or with expanding and contracting of the plywood.
Need it in Oshawa canada
Check out CanadaPontoon.com, they sell the same products as Pontoon Stuff including flooring and furniture.

Both rolls came from pontoon stuff. One light gray. One tan.
I definitely haven't seen that before. Did you use the glue they sell too?
yes
@@JamesLuttrell-h7l I would definitely reach out to Pontoon Stuff to see what they'll do or what they advise. Their customer service is top notch!

Thank you for responding. I have been watching your videos for a while now. It was already raised from Sun tracker. It has an aluminum bracket and then another sheet of plywood. It looks like I need to wrap them first and then assemble.
interesting! Usually that would be carpeted as it’ll hide the wraps and such. I’d usually try to go all aluminum and have it powder coated. The vinyl weaves and heavy duty vinyls don’t wrap well. That’s where thinner fishing boat style vinyls work well.
