Wow. I don’t think anyone has ever gotten that much Gary Ry stuff before. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a ship in there either. You could see those high line transfer cars running
Hi, I really enjoyed watching that, thank you. It brought back memories of Redcar Steelworks on Teesside in the UK, which unfortunately closed-down some years back now. I used to love watching the Shunters (Switchers) at work, seeing that 'Furnace Glow', Smoke and the all the Lights of the Plant in the dark.
Thank you, Sam, for taking us back to the U.S. Steel Gary Works on 25 June 2024 for another chance to see some of the Gary Railway remote control engines moving cars through parts of Gary Works and to and from Canadian National's Kirk Yard. The drone footage that you obtained from Kirk Yard was also interesting to watch. (Posted on 20 January 2025 at 2056 CST.)
Simply fantastic video showing what’s really good about America in our region here in the Chicago Northwest Indiana area. Thank you so much for your efforts and sharing this video with us!
About the EMD SW1 switcher that had a slug and a buffer car between the 3 molten slag cars... Was the flat buffer car used as a heat/safety barrier car for the crew?
@ ok gotcha yea they now roster two sw1001 from Fairfield southern. The two fs sw1500s have been missing since your video June 2024. I’d love to know if they went to the new transtar railroad “ east Ohio valley”
AWESOME
This was great, super photography thank you for the chanced to view this and get so modeling items and operations experience.

Hands down the best industrial video I’ve ever seen! Gives credence to the term “Big Steel”!
Outstanding video once again Sam! Gary Ry, Kirk Yard switching, Gary Works, and a "Gray Ghost " ! Cool!
That is an awesome video!
Appreciate it!
5:30It's your #1 Bop shop! 🕺

@@killerbee6310 Appreciate the comment!
Fantastic! My cousin retired from there. Relatives not far from Burn's Ditch.
Nice video!
Which bulk carrier is that off loading?
That’s the Edgar B. Speer!
Nice drone shots
Glad you liked them!
very nice camera work
Anyone know what's up with the bright blue paint?
Looks like they might be trying to spruce things up a little.
@@SamLovesTrains I noticed some freshly painted yellow safety railings too :)
What on earth is the thing at 5:00? Very, very cool video.
Also… what kind of drone do you use?
Hey, I’ve seen that loco at 8:47
Did security give you any trouble?
At that last crossing scene, security told me to leave about a minute before the train started moving. Luckily I took my time packing up!
What is all that some smoke from! It almost looks the paint is slowly burning.
wow so clean,
whats the drone ?
@@gabrielgani4779 Thanks! I use a DJI Mini 3 Pro
My, there's a lot going on there.

Sam loves trains did you perhaps see the former FS SW1500s ? I haven’t seen them two in over a year. I’ve been seeing FS SW1001s now
Ow shit my bad this is from June
Well I don’t think GRW roster 351 & 352 anymore, I could be wrong tho…
I think I’ve only ever seen the SW1500s. It’s been awhile since I visited Gary, so I’m not sure what’s up with them these days.
