There's also 1985's The Beach Boys: An American Band. I had that on VHS.

I grew up with this one. I taped it off TV on a VHS cassette. And later bought the documentary on DVD. This one is probably fashioned after The Beatles' "The Compleat Beatles" documentary. And I'd suspect it's more like the new Beach Boys' Disney+ documentary.

Some things I like about the Endless Harmony DVD are the 5.1 surround sound mixes that are part of the special features and as your presentation discusses, Endless Harmony & the new Beach Boys Disney + doc are good companion pieces that are both worthwhile. Much like Peter Jackson's Get Back and the new cleaned up Let It Be.

@@RabbiSteve1 Thanks, I was playing some Zep, and I must have been thinking of their manager, Peter Grant.

Thanks for covering both films. I haven’t seen the new one yet. But I love ENDLESS HARMONY. One of the things I like about it is the participation of the Bee Gees, and Sean Lennon. I am a dyed-in-the-wool Beach Boys fan from the early 60’s when my dear departed older sister used to listen to them (and she gave me the first BEACH BOYS CONCERT album), through the 70’s when I saw that Carl-led version with Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplain (both from South Africa) a few times, and they became one of my favorite bands of all time (and I still think is the best version of The Beach Boys ever, while both HOLLAND and CARL AND THE PASSIONS were still fresh). And I have seen a few Beach Boys and Brian documentaries. And I think ENDLESS HARMONY is still my favorite.

The Beach Boys need an " Anthology " series like the one the Beatles had.
With so many years as a group , and all the drama within the band and their private lives , they could easily fill 10 hours.
Another documentary is " American Band " in the mid 80s ( also on RUclips ,) and one from the UK called " wouldn't it be nice " .
The problem with all these documentaries, is they all cover the first years in depth , but run out of time to do the later years. Also check out the two Brian Wilson documentaries " I just wasn't made for these times " and " long promised road" .
There is also a Dennis Wilson documentary out.
Long time Beach Boys fan here.

Loving the Beach Boys videos! Dying for some album reviews if you get around to things like Sunflower and Holland
