    Con you do it the other way around?

      Generally speaking (but there are exceptions) the answer would be no. CEC logically assumes that when the TV is turned off, any controlled device (cable box, DVD player, DVR, MBOX) should be turned off as well. That makes sense. But, when a controlled device is turned off first, it assumes that the TV should NOT be turned off, because someone may want to switch inputs (say to antenna TV?) and watch something else (like local news or a live sporting event). The old MXQ shown in this video follows that protocol exactly, but other boxes may behave differently. Amazon FireTV remotes always turn the TV on/off with the FireTV stick. IMHO that's one of the FireTV's best features! Some H96Max TV boxes can also be configured to turn the TV off with the box (works most of the time), but in the cases where I've tried it, H96Max boxes seldom turn the TV back on with the box (only works occasionally). I haven't had very good luck with H96Max products. Still, whatever you have, turning on CEC doesn't cost anything and you might be surprised at how well you can get it to work. Good luck! Thanks for asking. Comments and discussion really help the channel.

      Not much to go on, here. What's the make and model of your TV? For this to work, both the TV and the TV box must have some version of CEC built in, and CEC has to be turned ON both in TV settings and TV box settings. Also, CEC only controls HDMI connected devices. CEC doesn't work with component or composite video devices. And, if there's more than one HDMI controllable device connected to the TV, you have to select which one you want CEC to control in TV settings. I've had reasonably good luck with CEC using both OEM remotes (the ones that came with the TVs) and with aftermarket remotes. One thing I forgot to mention is that after a power failure, CEC stops working. You have to go into both TV and TV box settings to turn everything back ON again. So, you shouldn't turn TV equipment ON/OFF via a power strip once you get CEC working. Hope this helps. Good luck! Thanks for commenting.

      To run newer versions of the K app on old TV boxes limited by Android 4.4.2 and S805 processors, you have to install Alex Elec (or LibreElec) on an SD card. This upgrade works great - really great! Complete instructions are here: www.dailymotion.com/video/x81fval
      Note that the download location given for Alex Elec in the video (Ukraine) is not working anymore. Instead, once you've identified your logic board, download Alex Elec v3.3.3 from here: github.com/AlexELEC/AE-AML/releases/tag/3.3.3

    My slight old Samsung smart TV has any option for 'anynet+-cec but sadly doesn't pick my mxq box when it searches for it. Could anyone help me with this please?

      Either your system settings are wrong (but you don't say what version of Android is on your box, so how can anyone offer specific instructions?) or your HDMI cable is defective (but you don't say how you verified it or whether or not you tried a known-good, properly wired, HDMI v2 cable). Please rewatch the video starting from about 6:30. Both of these issues are discussed there. Good luck and thanks for asking!

    Hi i have an mxq box i bought a replacement remote for it but it dosnt work when i questioned the seller he said it has to be programmed to the box ???i have no idea how to do this can you plz help

      Generally speaking, the only button that has to be programmed on a programmable remote is the ON/OFF button. For that you need an original remote with a working ON/OFF button. Problem is the programming procedure given in the instructions, assuming you're lucky enough to have gotten legible instructions with the new remote, is invariably wrong. They tell you to push the wrong buttons, hold them down for a wrong length of time, let them up after a wrong number of blinks, etc. So, unless the vendor offers corrected instructions, or unless you're able to figure the correct programming procedure out on your own, you're stuck. Send it back.

    How do I get rid of pop ups ads that don't have an x to close without unplugging.

    • @LawrencePina
      @LawrencePina  Год назад +1

      Three ways to deal with unnamed app that displays annoying popups:
      1. Open a browser (preferably NOT Chrome), and search using DuckDuckGo or other engine (preferably NOT Google) using these words: Download ad free version of unnamed app (substituting the actual name of the annoying app). Some downloads are going to work. Some won't. So, download more than one ad free version from different sites, avoiding Play Store. Be sure to uninstall the annoying version before installing one of the downloads. Simply updating is not going to work. It may take two or three tries, but one of the downloads generally works perfectly. Even then, you will have to repeat this procedure once a month or so as new versions/updates often stop old ad free versions from working. No big deal. It's what you have to do.
      2. Half the time, it's not the app causing the problem. It's the video player associated with the app. If the unnamed annoying app has a Play with option, switch back to the built-in player. Choose ExoPlayer if possible. Otherwise, choose Play with VLC. VLC is the best player out there IMHO. It has the most features. It runs on all platforms, and it does not not generate ads. If you don't already have VLC, download the latest version for free from www.videolan.org/
      3. If neither of these methods work for you, then it's time to try a different app. If you haven't already discovered 100 places to get them from just by pursuing procedure 1 (above) search using these words: download ad free apps like unnamed annoying app. If that doesn't work, try this: archive.org/details/apkarchive There are thousands upon thousands of absolutely great, free Android apps. You don't have to put up with annoying ones.
      Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting. Please like and subscribe as it really helps the channel.
