Man, That was one of my very first jobs in construction was working for a Concrete Company, when i was like 15 yrs. old, and those damn Pump Trucks will flat wear your ass out !! Believe me i learned real quick how to finish concrete really well so , i never had to drag the end of one of those pipes around ever again !! Lmao.....Turned out Nice as always Chris ! Great Job...On to the next !! You guys be safe out there and try your best to keep your distance from everybody.....Have A Great Evening.....
Looks good. Drove from just south of OKC down to Foley Alabama to pick up a concrete pump for a guy at one point. It was built into a trailer with twin torsion axles. Had a spare tire but doubt I could have changed it the thing was so heavy. The wiring for the brakes and lights was ruined so before I could even pull it out of the yard I had to fix all of that. Drove back about 60 MPH the whole way so it was a long slow trip and was worried about the bearings so every time I stopped I would pump grease down into them. I am sure more than a few cars had some grease end up on them but it didn't throw a bearing on the trip. Nearly lost a finger due to the bands for the steel pipe when I was working on a pipe crew. It was one of the ones that was sprung too tight and while we were sliding the two sections together it got me. The stuff had laid in a flooded field for a week before we put it in and the derp doctor didn't give me an antibiotic even though they should have. Got infected after they glued it back together, guess I was lucky my car broke down on the way back to work that Monday, had I went in it would have been a pretty bad deal. My doctor was pissed and had to cut it back open and clean it out some more and leave a spot to allow it to drain.
Technical job on dig out but turned out to be a damp squib as we say in Scotland, a damp squib is a firework that goes bang! being damp it frissels out to nothing. Still I was impressed by the accuracy of your driving, you are a master.
Man, I can sit all day long watching you dig. You make it look so effortlessly! Who needs a laser with you at the controls of a excavator?!?! My favorite piece of equipment to operate. My boss has been doing excavating for 50+yrs, but you'd run circles around him! Thanks for the great content!
That seemed a long way for what should have been a short journey. Why didn't they fit a cap end with a vent then pump foamed concrete down the manhole upto the new invert level. I meant to ask before, why was the original invert level so deep given the fall to the pond?
When he assessed the damage a few months ago, he thought maybe they had installed it and later hauled in a bunch of fill. I think he would be able to tell now after his digging. It would be interesting to know if that's still his theory.
Chris ... just a suggestion from an "Engineer" ... in this application, you have a more than ample supply of "Free Water". As your rightly comment, 150' if 18" Pipe displaces a large amount of "Earth". And said "Earth" isn't "Sand" so is not "Free Flowing" so on the back fill, you might want to consider use of a gas powered Water Pump to wet the initial layer of earth being used ... it will allow greater compaction of the material and be more cost efficient IMHO; run time on a water pump vs "Tamping" with your high dollar mini's seems to be a no brainer. Same for wetting down of the top layers to allow settling and no "hump" that the subsequent "Gardeners" are surely gonna bitch about unless you make another costly return to site to re-grade. Remember: "Gravity Works 24/7/365". Free advice but offered in sincere hopes of making your more profitable/competitive. Peace
Was any1 else wondering why they put concrete in the catch basin? Seems to me the ideal thing to do would leave it as deep as it was so there is more room for dirt & debris. I used to work for a company for many years, cleaning out catch basins & the more room in those basins for dirt & debris the better...it saves the land owner from having it cleaned out all of the time.
Watching this in September!! I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and I often find i'm missing the beginning, middle, or end of a job your doing....suggestion... could you do Part 1, 2, 3 or something similar for those of us who just started watching your videos? I'ts very hard to piece together because the titles are different for each one of your videos. Really enjoy watching but like to see the whole job start to finish.
A lot of what we see you doing is clearing trees or stumps. When you do that, you use the excavator bucket as a rake a lot. Have you thought of making a rake attachment for your bigger excavators? A couple chain attachment points on the top of the bucket, two six foot lengths of half inch chain, an eight foot piece of railroad iron, and 16 two foot lengths of half inch reibar bent through holes in the railroad iron would give you an enormous rake you could use for root or brush cleanup. You wouldn't even need to remove the bucket to attach it.
I wonder if a roller on the end would be good for compacting dirt and then I am thinking an old truck wheel/tyre and hub wouldn’t cost much with an old bucket welded on? (One of our ditching bucket mounts just got welded on the new cutter bar to make a mini digger hedge cutter.

Hey Chris, side question here. After being an excavator operator for so long have you had any back problems? Lot of stress on the body along with operating the joysticks and pedals. Just curious. Thanks for the great videos as usual.
@@spudgamer6049 trust me, even with air ride cabs............( Maybe I suffered too much abuse before these were common) Them trucks still beat you up pretty badly! I've been driving far too long! Between the both of them they put humpty dumpty back together again, TWICE per month. If not for their services, I doubt I'd still be able to work.
Chris, I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of seed you use? I have a large area I need to seed. Our climate is similar since I’m in the Florida panhandle. Does your company use the same seed for a grass area like this and for a pond damn ? Thanks! I look forward to your videos every night!

I wonder why he didn't just dig up the old pipe, since he had to trench it anyway, then fill the old manhole with dirt? Seems quicker and cheaper to me.
It looked like he was using a flow fill(concrete without any aggregate)to fill the pipe itself with concrete. It looks like the point of the job was to abandon the failed pipe and manhole by filling the void with concrete.

Mud dries, concrete cures, a chemical reaction. The Hover Dam would take 125 years to fully cure. if not for some innovative engineering. I do like your videos keep up the good work.
Eventually the rest of the original pipe would collapse, creating a sinkhole and potentially threatening the integrity of the building slab. Filling with concrete prevents that.
Asking for a friend, but bo you think there wife would worry if I came home driving a digger instead of buying that expensive ring they promised her, as I said asking for a friend 🤣😂🤣

Really cool ,yes some 5 gal buckets when he pulled the pump Hose off. With the quick release would you get a tilling attachment to "cover your tracks" or would that be done per job, i.e. type of property? Just yesterday I watched a concrete pumping video, and they filled a pipe underneath a highway and and added foam to the concrete mixer. It expanded a little. Nice Job!
Nice job again. You always leave your work sites neat and as good as it was when started.👏🏻👏🏻👍🇨🇦🇺🇸

That was funny - can you move your bucket out the way? > no that's what is stopping you from a having a swim in concrete genius.
I could sense Chris was becoming aggravated, not wanting to lose everything they just pumped into it!!!
I'm surprised a concrete guy didn't know concrete doesn't harden in 5 minutes.
Looks more like slurry. And I love those just back up and dump mud in a hole jobs, coming from a mixer driver here.

Man you literally cut out all the good parts. No manhole, no water coming out of the pipe, hardly any concrete parts =/
Was thinking the same thing, it’s a shame was keen for this video
Never got to see a concrete pump up close until now. Very cool

Good to see a concrete pump, but a dragline would fill the ditch too!
Great to see you using a straight edge bucket. Unbeatable in the right situation.
