- In a world overflowing with uncertainty, OCD wants to convince us we can somehow control it all. From unrest to personal worries, the mind relentlessly searches for answers -sometimes convincing us that just one small compulsion can fix everything. But as we know, the lies OCD feeds us don’t lead to absolute answers. Ever.
In this episode, we explore our relationship with uncertainty. We' explain why compulsions never create certainty and how embracing this uncertainty might just be the better solution you're looking for.

Thank you for this! The current uncertainty in the US has hit my ocd hard, and worked its way into many of my intrusive thoughts. With so much at stake it is hard, but you’re right, no matter how many times I walk up the stairs over and over, no outcomes will change. The way that nocd has been providing so many great educational resources and interviews through RUclips has been really helpful. Please keep them coming!
We're so happy to hear that our videos have been helpful ❤
Rather than "accepting uncertainty", I like to think of it as "accepting not having certainty".
Technically they mean the same thing, but for me uncertainty is less directionless and more intimidating, than not having certainty.
You get to a place where you say to yourself maybe this did happen but maybe it didn't you just accept the uncertainty and say to yourself I don't know and I don't need to figure it out.
Thank you Dr Patrick!! Thanks God for your gift in this area to help create awareness for us suffering in silence in absolute shame and guilt.
Thank you for tuning in!
Could you create a video on existential topics like death, consciousness, free will, the whole fear about the universe, where we come from and the possibility of the afterlife? For me it’s completely unbearable to accept how the life looks like and accept the uncertainty that we know nothing about that. As for the death, there is the misery related to nothingness and the blank space after we die, so there is no motovation to do anything here, but on the other hand there is a slight chance that our experience will not finish completely and we end up in a terrible place.
