Hi all, thanks for the support on the video. To clear some things up, regardless of how or why the dog was loose, it put me and my horse in danger, luckily, my horse is very patient and did not harm the dog. Second, i trotted off straight away to 1) get away from the situation and 2) there was a car behind me (that I almost ended up on the bonnet of because of the dog making my horse back up) and I didnt want to hold up traffic. Thanks again :)
clearly this is a wonderful horse but i am curious what would happen if your horse did kick a dog? i definitely don't want that to happen but it would be a shame if you or the horse got in trouble because the dog owner didn't control their animal when you do
In all fairness modern day dog owners do not take responsibility, but they're really good at making excuses. I would say that goes for probably 80% of them. I would like to see more sweet old dogs get adopted instead of the Pitbull mentality running rampant. Regardless of what someone adopts, train it. Loose dogs are usually nuisance, end of story.. it's easy to tell the people on here who are very biased and dog only because they do not take responsibility, everyone else is supposed to work around them and their dog.. it's getting epidemic and it's ridiculous.
What a great and trustful horse. This video gives the opportunity to focus on his ears, to see how he listens to the rider. The work with horses in the police work (and other fields) is so important.
I blame the stupid owner of the dog!!!! If the dog or horse would of got hurt then it would of been down to the prick letting go of the lead. Made me angry seeing that and hearing the distress in the riders voice!! ❤
@@elaineburgess9265 Basically I am a 3 dog owner who unleashes the dogs on street. I Can tell tho, as obvious, that this road is too big to leave dogs like that and when there are horses. One buck and its dead, Can't blame on horse cuz a horse is like a prey to it, so it'll defend itself.
If I horses, trained horses and even backed horses for several decades, I complete agree this boy is extremely well behaved. Any horse would react to a dog coming over like that, whether the dog wanted to play or attack, the horse is a prey animal and its instinct is to escape a predator, which is what a dog is.. I've seen dogs being kicked in the head and being instantly killed by a horse because it was off lead around a horse. So yes, this horse is well behaved and the rider thanking drivers that slowed or stopped to pass is great too.
What a great horse and your training and riding obviously gives your horse confidence. Dog owners need to understand how dangerous it is for their dog, the rider and their horse to allow them to run free and cause an accident. This video shows just why we, as riders, need more off road routes.
Its been 30 years since I rode..this brought me back to my childhood! You are a VERY polite rider and your horse is really in tune with you! Thanks for this, I got to be 13 again for a few minutes..lol! ❤
Well trained horse and good rider for that matter. It takes a very special bond between the two to react the way you did when that dog came out of nowhere. And the galloping down the trail when you said "not yet... ok". Throughout the video the "good boy" were especially awesome. Giving praise to the horse or any animal strengthens that bond. Well if you bother looking the dog had a leash so it likely pulled hard after it got excited over the horse and the owner got caught off guard, it was clearly just an accident.
My dog is a strong puller and one day she pulled so hard that the lead was pulled out of my hand and she was suddenly loose. So it can happen (luckily only once)
If your smart you only let it happen once.. i sometimes walk my sisters dog and he pulled free when he saw a deer once, i now hold the leash in such a way it grips my arm as well..
Your horse and your riding are a credit to you! You stayed calm in all situations. Not a particularly good area for riding, alot of roadwork but that is what it's like now. Difficult to find good places to hack and certainly not on your doorstep. The wood's looked lovely though. 😁

At first I was kinda confused as to why someone would ride around in the middle of a town, but when you see how well behaved and desensitized this horse is to it all, it does kinda make sense. Both for the horses mind and the riders overal safety in the long run. The more your horse is used to things that could be scary, the safer it is. Which is shown in the way the horse handled the dog. ❤ What a great horse you have! Definitely not a plod but nice and forward going. Brings back some beautiful memories. Actually I’m tearing up a bit 😭💔 I became very unwell and my illness has progressed to the point where I’m wheelchair reliant and mostly housebound and bedridden. Unless there’s a miracle or a medical cure there’s no hope of improvement sadly. It was lovely watching your video just the familiar sounds of hooves and the wonderful creaking of leather. Total bliss! And your horse is clearly a very happy boy. Loved watching him snacking along the way just those little things that brought me memories. Thanks for sharing your video. Yes I was fortunate enough to live on a small island when I was involved with horses and of course I started mucking out etc and learned to ride when I was still at primary school. I’m 51 now so it was a while ago. But I continued to ride through the years. Back then drivers were considerate and roads were very quiet unless it was the holiday seasons when the trekking centre was busy and the place was full of tourist’s. I had the joy of keeping my favourite horse from autumn to late spring and I had a great time. The place you’re riding is more built up. But when I left the island I experienced similar issues with drivers coming way too close from up behind me and hitting 60 or more! It’s shocking! I haven’t had the nightmare dog situation that you experienced. Absolutely shocking! Like I say you have a great horse there and you were able to hold him nicely and calmly. Well done! I don’t think I would have been so calm as you. The bridle paths were interesting and certainly far from boring. You could tell that your horse was enjoying himself. Oh my gosh the bus was shocking! Unbelievable
This is why I'm so glad my horse is good with dogs. He will run straight at them if I tell him to, even bite if he feels the need BUT he's also very friendly with my own dogs and kind to them. When it comes to dogs, it's so important to get them used to it.
My horse is very protective of me, any dogs or even cats that come near me while I'm working with him, he will snap at them.. I did give him into trouble about the cat though, I like cats.. Though tharmt cat has since died. She was murdered by the council, who didn't even apologise after hitting her. We live in a village so its a 20mph area, the cat usually gets off the road when cars come hence why I know they were doing at least 50-60 though our village. And then people wonder why I prefer animals over humans.. 🤷♀️
i almost got attacked by two dogs somebody let run free around their neighborhood when i was visiting my dad in illinois. i managed to get away from them without being injured but it was terrifying- never, EVER let your dogs run free without supervision, and if you have a dog you cannot physically control, you shouldn't have that dog. in this case, it seems the dog had a lead but got away from the owner(s), they should not have such an aggressive dog if they are unable to prevent it from running off.
I love you video, love being there watching you both on your adventure. Both of you are magnificent 💕 l love you gentleness, your horses confidence and both of you are very much enjoying each other ❤ great video.
Your horse is very well trained and calm around the different scenarios on that hack and it’s clear to see the trust you have in one another lovely hack ❤
I live in Canada in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and surprised a wolverine while riding on an old logging road. Wolverines can be exceedingly nasty and this one was. It snarled and leapt forward and I thought for sure my horse was going to get a nasty bite. I also thought my horse would shy away or leap back but I guess after all the years of riding in the mountains and encountering other wild life that he wasn’t to worried. Instead he lifted up his front foot and clunked the wolverine in the head with his hoof which sent the wolverine back into the bush a short ways. It just sat there and growled after that hit and we trotted off. Anyway, something to be said for calm well trained horses. Your horse handles the road and vehicles really well. Mine isn’t fond of vehicles at all but then we don’t ride around them much. With the exception of some country roads horses aren’t allowed on the roads here.
Your horse is very well-trained. I give you praise for that. The horse, to my own surprise, didn't seem to panic like other horses would when a dog would charge at them. And that dog was very lucky that your horse didn't panic because if it did, your horse would've either severely injured or killed the dog since it would trample, bite, or kick at it in response. I'm glad the situation ended quickly and painlessly. God bless.
Wow, you're amazing with your horse. I know I go trail riding on my friend's horse, and this dog off leash scared me a bit. So I know how you felt in that situation, and you did amazing.
Remember folks. There are no bad dogs, only idiots who don't train them. That being said, my sister has a MEAN horse, hates dogs. Doesn't try to throw you or buck, but if he can, he'll grab the dog in his teeth and YEET then as hard as he can over his back, then he tries to stomp them into the dirt.
@@arribaficationwineho32 Hello, look at your countries laws. In most places you are ALWAYS allowed to practice self defense if you feel like your life or health is being threatened, but also your pets health. Eg, if a dog attacks your dog, you're allowed to kick the dog. So, you do have the right to use any tool (including pepper sprays) to defend yourself if you're being attacked by a dog. Depending on the laws, the owner could get in trouble for having it off the leash. It's worth it to research it. better safe than sorry.

0:50 these zig zag lines? They’re marked on the road at pedestrian crossings. Vehicles may not park in this area, and may not overtake the leading car in this area. It is a measure to keep visibility of the road and pavement clear of obstructions so that pedestrians can see approaching vehicles, and drivers can see pedestrians approaching the crossing, and on the crossing
@@petervankauwenbergh3375 yes they are called bridle ways. We have a lack of them where I live now because scrambler bikes ruin them or they’re too overgrown to ride through, which sadly pushes us to have to ride on the roads

The dog looked really happy and curious so thats good! It probably pulled so hard it got off the leash, good thing it wasnt aggresive biting you or the horse .
the woman blamed the guy without even know what he really did.. "Why did you let it go?!" I don't think he said to himself "oh a horse! I'm going to untie my dog :)" I have a reactive dog too 😂
It seems like the guy with the border collie let the dog go so she could run at her other owner (the woman walking a bit in front of them). This is so dangerous if you have a reactive dog or if your dog doesn't listen to you whenever. If there wasn't a horse, there could have been a car, someone on a bike, someone with an agressive dog, etc. Very irresponsible behaviour. Glad neither your horse nor their dog got injured! They should have apologized at the very least...
I do that sometimes with my dogs. But, it's so important to check your surroundings first, and not just let go. And even if they're well trained, I'd never do it in an area with that much traffic.

that is one cool calm collected horse... cars and BUSES coming up behind him, and he doesn't bat an eye.. and it looks like he really loves his trails.
You know it’s a good day when you just think of your younger self seeing someone riding their horse on the street, just something to think about :P
People have already commented on the dogs, but i feel like it needs to be said more that: horses in the UK have more rights on the road, than the people who neglect your hack!
So impress with your horse
What sensible horses
the horse hooves clattering sounds abit asmr and soothing to me and the different perspective and view on a horse is intresting, I myself have never ridden a horse since i struggle to get on them being 5'1.
I love to hear the sound of horse's on the road, it's such a pleasure.
Lovely video. Great riding and such a well behaved sound minded horse. So reminds me of my early riding days so very nostalgic too 😊
かわいい!とてもいい子ですね!

Ollie was a STAR on your hack. I love NF ponies- they're the best.
i almost got attacked by two dogs somebody let run free around their neighborhood when i was visiting my dad in illinois. i managed to get away from them without being injured but it was terrifying- never, EVER let your dogs run free without supervision, and if you have a dog you cannot physically control, you shouldn't have that dog. in this case, it seems the dog had a lead but got away from the owner(s), they should not have such an aggressive dog if they are unable to prevent it from running off.
You handled the dog situation perfectly - credit to both of you. Thanks for taking us along for the ride: no pun intended.
びっくりしつつもパニックにならずに凄い!偉い!🥰
I enjoyed this ride with you so much that I subscribed! Your trusty steed is so good!
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous!!
騎手目線の素敵な動画ですね
お馬さんも凄くお利口でした
What a nice horse! Wonderful ride!
I love you video, love being there watching you both on your adventure. Both of you are magnificent 💕 l love you gentleness, your horses confidence and both of you are very much enjoying each other ❤ great video.
1:22 That man is keeping his dog ACTUALLY controlled
The fact that it actually stopped at the sound of its name impressed me.
Brilliant brilliant…. Your horse is so well trained…. Its a fantastic POV for someone that has never ridden a horse 👍👍👍
Your horse is very well trained and calm around the different scenarios on that hack and it’s clear to see the trust you have in one another
lovely hack ❤
That coach was so close. What a good horse you have. I don't ride or have a horse
Your pony is amazing 🤩 does he ever spook? What a good boy he is 💜 subscribed x oh and oh my goodness that bus!!!! 😳😳😳
The most he does is a little jump at something random but never anything major, I’m lucky that nothing phases him! X
@@thatolliepony you really are 😄 our Welsh Cob is called Ronnie aka Mr Spookalot 🤣
Love the sound of the saddle squeaking ❤️
That's quite a workout, especially going up some of those inclines. Reminds me I need to work on my cardio...
Oof, glad your horse managed to keep calm, he's very tame ^-^ relaxin vid none the less
God bless.
He is such a good boy! On the bushy trail he did not try to take a snack!❤
Oh I spoke to soon lol
New subscriber sweetheart 😘💕🐎
Your disposition and your wonderful 🐎horses in a situation is absolutely amazing 👏
Well done truly well done 🌟👌😁
Thank you loads ❤️
Wow, what a cool buddy you got there- cool boy! Greetings from germany!
ollie is the best boy. you hacked past my house! it so fun to see other horses out and about where i live :)
@@santapaws8439 love to hear that people like to see the horses! I’m usually greeted with smiles when I ride around the village which is always nice 😊
You definitely know your way around!! I would be so lost!!!! Great ride!!!!
Love this POV, like to watch Ollie ear going from up-down-side.
The guy with the dog getting told off was funny for some reason… who’s getting custody of the dog?
Wow, what an interesting and varied ride and you both did so well dealing with some intense situations x 🐎 🐴 💜
Now I suddenly want a horse lol 😂 he’s so well behaved.
3:35 Jesus that bus went by you close😳
I find these videos so peaceful to watch, minus the dogs of course.
Wow, you're amazing with your horse. I know I go trail riding on my friend's horse, and this dog off leash scared me a bit. So I know how you felt in that situation, and you did amazing.
I swear that Park you were in is the one next to my friends house.!
you have a good horse there xx ❤❤❤
This horse was very calm on the road! My horse literally went mental last week over a dog on a lead and the dog was barely past his hoof?!
That's what wild horses would do too if a predator gets too close to them 🙂
My horse would have booted that dog to the sun!! Well handled! Xx😊
Are you allowed to spray attacking dogs with any kind of repellant?
I would not advise that. People are dog lovers in this country that would not end well.
@@AndrewDaley-lr9qg but attacking loose dogs need deflection by some method. W hat do you recommend?
Gaz pieprzowy w żelu@@arribaficationwineho32
@@arribaficationwineho32 Hello, look at your countries laws. In most places you are ALWAYS allowed to practice self defense if you feel like your life or health is being threatened, but also your pets health. Eg, if a dog attacks your dog, you're allowed to kick the dog.
So, you do have the right to use any tool (including pepper sprays) to defend yourself if you're being attacked by a dog. Depending on the laws, the owner could get in trouble for having it off the leash. It's worth it to research it. better safe than sorry.
@ 3:35 thought you were singing a song to Jesus lol Then I saw how close that bus got to you and I laughed & said no She's cussing Or praying she doesn't get in an accident with the bus 😂
Nice video, beautiful horse! Noticed he dips his head when trotting on pavement. Is he a little sore in one of his front feet?
No it’s just me moving probably, since it’s hard to keep the camera still when rising lol. he’s sound and loves exploring :)
goodness those woods are absolutely gorgeous
The horse when yeh first dog hits: “AY I’LL STOMP ON YO DOG.” Her:”good boy/girl”
American here why are the lines on the street jagged? Just to signify a reduced speed zone before the stop?
0:50 these zig zag lines? They’re marked on the road at pedestrian crossings. Vehicles may not park in this area, and may not overtake the leading car in this area. It is a measure to keep visibility of the road and pavement clear of obstructions so that pedestrians can see approaching vehicles, and drivers can see pedestrians approaching the crossing, and on the crossing
I have a question. In england is a horse trail called a bridleway? Thanks.
@@petervankauwenbergh3375 yes they are called bridle ways. We have a lack of them where I live now because scrambler bikes ruin them or they’re too overgrown to ride through, which sadly pushes us to have to ride on the roads
Was expecting more than one dog attack, was grateful I only saw one. Glad you and your beautiful horse are okay.
Bless you I don’t envy your hacking! Not the nicest of roads you have to use, and I hope you reported that coach driver xx
I don’t do this ride very often anymore and stick to the mountains mainly since I moved yards! However, still run into problems with dogs/cars/bikes/people wherever I am unfortunately! xx
The dog looked really happy and curious so thats good! It probably pulled so hard it got off the leash, good thing it wasnt aggresive biting you or the horse .
the woman blamed the guy without even know what he really did..
"Why did you let it go?!"
I don't think he said to himself "oh a horse! I'm going to untie my dog :)"
I have a reactive dog too 😂
That horse is so good, he's got a lot of trust in you
Heyy i just LOVE your horseeee its really calm and well trained 🤩❤
What was with all those white zig zag lines painted on the street? What is that suppose to symbolize?
Hey im just curious, does it make a horse uncomfortable in any way if you ride it/ or let it walk on hard concrete?
