AS A HISPANIC, I LOVE CHINA BUT DESERVE A DEMOCRACY, ALL CHINESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE HEARD....CHINA IS AUTHORITARIAN MEANING THEY (XI JINPING AND COMMUNIST ELITES) WILL TRY TO CONQUER THE WORLD BY ECONOMY AND DON'T CARE ABOUT ITS PEOPLE....USA IS IMMIGRANTS OF EVERYONE INCLUDING CHINA AND INDIA....WHO WOULD YOU WANT TO WIN?....
Kishore has the widest perspective on global issues I have ever heard. His credibility lies in the fact that he is originally a Hindu Indian, raised in Singapore with two Muslim neighbors that cooperated harmoniously with his own family, in a country first ruled by the UK and then becoming Chinese. He has two periods in the UN serving for Singapore and leading the UN security council for a couple of years (2001-2002). He is a globetrotter with intellectual friends all over the world. And above all, he doesn't judge anyone understanding that no single country is a saint and that all have to work with their own problems. He strongly emphasizes the importance of supporting multilateral institutions (IMF, the World Bank, UN, WTO) to solve global challenges. He argues that the world has changed in the new Millennium and that the West has to adapt and understand that their reign of power is over. The Messianic impulse of the West (trying to change other countries) will no longer work or be tolerated. Prof. Mahbubani has the ability to make a field of incredible complexity available to all of us - great work!
Mr Mahbubani is a great man who does our country proud. Just a point to amend, Singapore was a British colony till we got our independence. We are a sovereign country, which is multicultural and religiously diverse. We are ethnically majority Chinese, however, we are NOT a Chinese country.
I love to listen to Professor Mabhubani. Great explanation of the current world situation. I don't think that we should follow the example of the West in everything but rather follow a balanced way of living, The west has so many problems that they can't solve
Kishore, press on: what are "human right" indicators, what's priority. I have a story to tell: in Southern Africa, there are six ACCs, they pick up orphans from roadside, garbage dump. A reporter asked a six year old student if he likes ACC. Yes, because they give me three meals a day. That's human right, that's priority: three meals a day, a place to live.
Kishore mentioned about the invasion of Afghanistan by Russia and the U.N. involvement was part of their subsequently withdrawal besides other factors which is US clandestine involvement but ignored the fact that U.N. resolutions against Israel have no effect for them to adhere to the 1967 border and after almost four decades the Palestinians still are suffering from land theft, destruction of their olive plantations, destruction of their home and lives.
Prof Kishore always gives excellent presentation and answers.
Whether you agree or disagree with Kishore, this man has a brilliant mind.

@@crlnizaguirre you are talking with imagination and hallucinations. Go find out the facts, evidence, truth and prove before you talk.

Off course, my mistake. Singapore is a sovereign country. Appologies from Norway.
