So an important thing to note here. This ‘review’ is dealing with the single player as i was unable to spend much time with multiplayer. When we tried a stream today on the game we ran into a series of problems, from the game badly desyncing at the start of a race (random cars being released at the start of the countdown), laggy ai spinning you off, people being disconnected from lobbies for being inactive despite having been out of the race from terminal damage, it was sadly rather buggy. Now i did get a message from Grid on twitter asking about the bugs we encountered and they are going to be investigating what we found so that is good news at least, there just may be a couple of issues with multiplayer at launch.
Given so many games have had so many issues with multiplayer on launch? and that we're STILL getting commercial titles with these issues? the time has come for us developers to admit that we're not very good at testing.
@@JulesHunter22 Namely 3 things, connected diversity, team building, and a career mode that fooled you into a sense of perpose. When I say connected diversity I'm talking about the 3 countries Grid set its racing and the cars and Disciplines required for each country. America focused on muscle cars and high powered exotics, Europe focused on touring cars, open wheelers, and prototype's and GT cars, Japan focused on Japanese tuning cars and drift cars. After and you got up to a certain level you could use these cars across different countries and across different races, it gave buying and collecting every car a perpose... Team building was really cool and the way it developed every season with your garage getting a little nicer, getting a teammate, getting new cars, so on, all for the Pursuit of whatever goal you had in mind whether that be winning the 24 hours of LeMans or a specific championship that you were stuck on. The biggest thing Grid did, is give you not only authentic racing action, but a authentic reason to be racing. You start your career as a driver for hire with the Hope's of building your own team, and then battle your way up the ranks to with the 24 hours of lemans, and then to beat ravenwest. It allowed you to create your own story, your own game in your head, and in a believeable way where grid 2019 is just a collection of disconnected races. I quite like Grid in single player.... Put AI on hard or very hard, get rid of driver tags, stick it in cockpit or bonnet cam and put on rear view mirror. Works well with wheel and pedals.
@FailRace I've been enjoying GRID too, and also find it recommendable, but you definitely miss a few things. First off, I'm pretty sure loyalty is telling you the amount of damage your teammate will take from you before turning off their comms. You can usually tell them to attack or defend their position, and as you said, you don't use that feature at all, so you wouldn't notice it anyway. Secondly, speaking of damage, you never talked about how it's possible to take damage (if you keep the feature on) to things like your steering column, engine, and radiator. These all affect how your vehicle drives and I find it really cool. You probably don't take/deal enough damage to notice this from your preferred playstyle, but it is a neat aspect of the game. That said, the game is really generous with damage you can take. Some people may like this, some people may not. I think it's great. Like you note a few times, it's all about how much fun you're having with the game. If your engine gets knocked out with 1 or 2 bumps, that's detrimental to fun and detrimental to their bottom line. Damage is in a good spot I think where it exists but doesn't go far enough to make your average player want to turn the feature off. Thirdly, maybe you've never experienced this, but there's a big issue with the game where the AI have earlier finish lines than you do. I have 2 videos up where I finish neck and neck with the AI, have no penalties applied, and the game puts me at a lower position in the results screen than I was. It's definitely something they need to fix. Lastly, despite the lack of any real good skin customization, it should be noted how good the game looks. ...in some places. The cars and immediate track area look great. I play at 4K on ultra, so it's important to me that a game looks good when I'm playing it. The cockpits have a lower quality to them but are still somewhat detailed. The areas outside the track (distant landscape and even the audience members) look pretty bad though. Not a lot of detail at all on those things. Subjective how big a price that is to pay for the game to be performing as well as it does framerate wise on the highest settings. Some other things - I respect that you're not afraid to use the flashback feature. I haven't met one yet, but I know there are people out there who would be really stuck up about using it, and trying to make people feel bad for touching it, and I'm glad you're not one of those sad people. For those people, hey we get it, you choose to have less fun on average per minute spent on a game, just so you can try to make others feel bad for having a more enjoyable experience -- your life to live man. I also think you're missing out a bit not playing with your teammate. For me, this was the first racing game I've played where I get a teammate so it's been a good bit of fun playing around with that feature.
I just brought this but i can’t seem to win a race, everyone is extremely too fast for me, are you supposed to be in first position to win or is it just on points
this game has no sense of speed whatsoever, and handling is even worse than in the last NFS i played long time ago.. very disappointed with this release
ive been looking around for decent racing games to pick up because im very bored of fh4. this is the only game ive seen in months thats appealing to me. i think i may get this because it looks fun and ive a feeling online will be hilarious :D
"Throttle randomness"? Don't know what you're talking about. If you're talking about some sort of input issues, I've never had any problems of that sort in any of the previous games. Otherwise, please elaborate.
"Grid" is my Reference played many racing games but in this one I find you take a corner you have taken many times before at same or near same throttle level throttle is pegged alot higher than usual you spin out its not me or the controller as said played many race games and not had this problem its artificial difficulty to keep you on your toes which im not fond of in games
@@christopher6973 I have doubts: -Grid in general tends to be very loose, smooth and gradual with wheelspin / loss of traction. It can make the handling a bit easier to ride on the edge of control (Me included), but to others, the lack of tightness keeping the car in check might feel numb and uncontrollable. It definitely feels like you have to adapt the throttle based on how long you've been cornering / where you've been cornering, but it's never really felt random. -If this were the case, it would really be strange with Grid 2's handling, as that game encourages big, high-angle, foot-to-the-floor drifts to corner faster. Having Traction Control / Stability Management on in Grid 1 / Autosport would also have no real detrimental effects. Nonetheless, I'll try and set aside some time to do testing on Grid 1 and Autosport. If I find results / have more time, I'll go to Grid 2 as well. I can't try the 2019 game though. I don't have a current-gen console and probably don't have a good enough computer to run it reasonably well enough.
...So I got on Grid 1 and after a bit of driving around I found that the game actually has a throttle meter on the right side of the speedometer. I doubt they would lie about the input if they have that. I'm using a good controller and driving without assists in the more powerful open wheel car, and I'm using Chase camera. It takes huge jabs on the throttle or unique elevation changes to get the car to react in any sort of violent manor, with elevation changes being the bigger culprit. Steering into corners hard with third gear is generally a good place to feel the limit of the car.
If you have spent a lot of time playing FM7 you are going to really dissappointed with GRID 2019. Very arcade like, little force feedback with the popular wheels. You can calibrate your wheel from now till Christmas it will make little difference. You feel like you are on an ice skating rink rather than on a race track. Very little difference in the feel of each car....the list goes on and on. Great graphics though! Maybe I should have just bought 60 bucks worth of racing magazines instead!
Good content as usual props on consistency. Spent lots of hours on of grid series. But this seems like cash in rather than reboot. How different to og Grid is it really. Had huge multiplayer community in old games but consensus was touring cars were only fun multiplayer cars. Hope it's not still the same, and drifting got left out. Why? keepem komen
I'm still in two minds about this game, it's waaaay too easy to manipulate the ai. Even on hardest difficulty. Also, the career mode feels very grindy with it's lack of tracks. The damage model is a huge dissapointment compared to other codies games and the nemesis system is very artifical and doesn't really mean anything overall. I'm glad others are enjoying it, but it's very underwhelming for me. I don't really enjoy the driving model either and the races are way too short.
I'll pass. Enjoyed most of the previous games but when you're used to games like Project Cars 2 with so many cars and tracks, this looks very bare bones in comparison.
That's a pure sim game and if you're used to that level of realistic physics you better steer away from this game and let others enjoy it. I love grid though.
It didnt live up at all for me they dumped all of what made grid great the crash bbn physics the drifting the demolition derbys it's a shadow of what it was
Why don't racing games have any story any more. Like horizon 4, it was so boring when it could of been a great cinematic experience. It's like every race game these days have no substance it's just Here's some cars Here's some tracks Who needs a story. I do I need a reason to be invested in the adventure im on.
jacen cade thank you! Just a simple storyline that makes the racing meaningful. They have a nemesis system but they forget about you after each race ends.
No sponsorship deals, no special periodic race event, ... Can you at least still race for other teams ? I'll stick to the first game sorry. Yeah, the handling feels like the original game, the car selection is decent (I like it less compared to the first Grid's selection, but overall it's still a good one), new AI and nemesis system seem great, new tracks look cool, but it won't be enough for me to choose this new Grid over the first one.
Each to their own but the graphics in this look nowhere near current-gen. Nothing attention grabbing, lacking any sense of speed and too much of a pick 'n mix career mode. Thanks for the review though, helped me decide to spend my cash elsewhere!
The absolute worst racing I have ever played. I play all of them. 50 mph feels no different than 250 mph. The handling model is absolute junk. It is a drift crash game. Absolute terrible. Unplayable.

Garbage.
Thanks for helping me not waste my money
4:02 Turn10 are you watching? Forza Motorsport needs this.
Definitely not a simcade in my book, this game looks like a blast on the wheel anyway. I might think about getting this game.
DJR Team Penske confirmed running Camaros in 2022.
@9:46 Amaroo Park have gone back in time, it closed in 1998.
Power and weight are the only stats displayed to select a car? Couldn't even at least throw in handling or breaking?
This game deserved more development time IMO. lack of content (especially tracks) really shows and makes the career mode dangerously repetitive.
On very hard difficulty it's really challenging, most disappointing point is how shallow it feels generally comparing to it's predecessors...
I find it rather easy on very hard. Don't know about playing with a controller, but with a wheel it's too easy to win every race.
Just got it
Ultimate Editon for a tena wohoo
Finally can play it
I'm happy to hear that this game will have qualifying. Will it be for all disciplines?
this game really lacks sense of speed imo
Anyau! Yes, I completely agree. I want to feel like I’m on the edge of my seat. Even cockpit cam looks tame
Completely wrong.
Just watch the video from 17:20
@@adnanasghar1087 he's going 140 in the tunnel and it looks like 70, it's bad
@@anyau yeah, and thats mph ffs! Lol
Played Ride 3 and sense of speed is insane when in cockpit view! Off topic i know lol.
If only the Barcelona street track was the old Montjuïc street circuit...
I havent seen anything on it yet but i hope there multi class racing in this game :D
Australia is finally getting the comaro and corvette, so it is possible that we'll see comaro in v8 supercars in the coming years
I just brought this but i can’t seem to win a race, everyone is extremely too fast for me, are you supposed to be in first position to win or is it just on points
I suck at racing games so I put it on easy.
At least they have the Volvo Estate Touring Car :)
Yesss thanks man i want this game but wanted to see you review it first
STRATOS!
Zhejiang is pretty egregious for AI quali speed. The other circuits are more competitive.
On this grid, I have a ferrari daytona
How does this compare and contrast to GRID Autosport? I don't want to waste $60 if this game isn't as good as Autosport.
Tbh just get the original off gog
You can download the pirated version off of fitgirl's website. If you like it, buy it. If you don't, delete it. Simple. :)
@@SuperIceman44 original is not available on fitgirl
A disappointment and downgrade!
Still asseto corsa for me!
this game has no sense of speed whatsoever, and handling is even worse than in the last NFS i played long time ago.. very disappointed with this release
ive been looking around for decent racing games to pick up because im very bored of fh4. this is the only game ive seen in months thats appealing to me. i think i may get this because it looks fun and ive a feeling online will be hilarious :D
DeanoGTO fm7 is better than this even though i loved 2008 grid
How much does the game cost?
can you play some wreckfest
Is there a cockpit cam?
Yes
There is, and it has a proper reverse cam too where you are looking out of the rear windscreen, through your rollcage!
yes. a detailed one unlike grid 2 and autosport.
iownalx23 okay dude 2 people have answered me I get it.
@@iownalx23 Grid 2 actually didn't have a cockpit view.
There were mods on PC that let people place the camera in the interior, though.
It's on Xbox gamepass now
The Handling in these games is fine
Its the throttle randomness that bites you
thats why im not fond of Grid games
Is it the same in this new one
"Throttle randomness"? Don't know what you're talking about.
If you're talking about some sort of input issues, I've never had any problems of that sort in any of the previous games.
Otherwise, please elaborate.
"Grid" is my Reference
played many racing games
but in this one I find you take a corner you have taken many times before at same or near same throttle level throttle is pegged alot higher than
usual you spin out
its not me or the controller
as said played many race games and not had this problem
its artificial difficulty to keep you on your toes
which im not fond of in games

I have doubts:
-Grid in general tends to be very loose, smooth and gradual with wheelspin / loss of traction.
Was that a new intro rev?
Yep, from his new V10 RS6
Why do people race in 3rd person and not 1st Person like you would in a real race? Not a RC race?
No drift races? Deal breaker. 😒
Do one for Need for Speed HEAT!
Rewind drains the excitement. Mistakes should have consequences.
You can turn em off
Why I am feeling that the cars are steering from the back wheels....very strange....!
No derby? No drift? NO BUY. Loved the multiplayer modes in original Grid
It's hard
I'm still in two minds about this game, it's waaaay too easy to manipulate the ai. Even on hardest difficulty. Also, the career mode feels very grindy with it's lack of tracks.
The damage model is a huge dissapointment compared to other codies games and the nemesis system is very artifical and doesn't really mean anything overall. I'm glad others are enjoying it, but it's very underwhelming for me. I don't really enjoy the driving model either and the races are way too short.
Dubsox i felt the same... ended up getting a refund and depressed for a few mins. 2008 Grid just can’t be redone i guess.
I'll pass. Enjoyed most of the previous games but when you're used to games like Project Cars 2 with so many cars and tracks, this looks very bare bones in comparison.
That's a pure sim game and if you're used to that level of realistic physics you better steer away from this game and let others enjoy it.
I love grid though.
Honestly I don't care about your review.. I just love seeing people talk about this game.
I just bought this for 50% off and I still feel a little ripped off...
It didnt live up at all for me they dumped all of what made grid great the crash bbn physics the drifting the demolition derbys it's a shadow of what it was
they chance ai drive like u do you play grid, or dirt ai grip perfect so i think change way we use drive crap so now table turn ai sux much u do lol.
Why don't racing games have any story any more.
Like horizon 4, it was so boring when it could of been a great cinematic experience.
It's like every race game these days have no substance it's just
Here's some cars
Here's some tracks
Who needs a story.
I do
I need a reason to be invested in the adventure im on.
Ya, one thing that FH1 has over 4 is a story. It's threadbare, but rather charming at the same time. It gave you a purpose and it was awesome.
jacen cade thank you! Just a simple storyline that makes the racing meaningful. They have a nemesis system but they forget about you after each race ends.
Because NFS tried it and everyone hated it, yes, 2015 was pretty bad, but Payback's story was personally the strongest in the franchise
@@Starfire_Storm one bad game shouldn't ruin a whole genre.
Besides what DIDNT people hate in 2015.
2015 was the year of the whiny bitch.
Strongly disagree. I find stories in racing games extremely annoying.
Exceeding track limits much lol?
The racing games menus are all the same. The laziest part of racing game. I miss the old 3d codmaster's main menus.
first bro hey failrace
More GTA5 Survive The Hunt! I'm caught up. :/
Didn't Codies say that the DLC were all for free?
Declan George they’re adding free tracks, but there are DLC cars and career events that cost money.
Each to their own but the graphics in this look nowhere near current-gen. Nothing attention grabbing, lacking any sense of speed and too much of a pick 'n mix career mode. Thanks for the review though, helped me decide to spend my cash elsewhere!
The career mode is so fucking trash.. long cry from what I would call a complete why can't we just have toca back for goodness sake
The absolute worst racing I have ever played. I play all of them. 50 mph feels no different than 250 mph. The handling model is absolute junk. It is a drift crash game. Absolute terrible. Unplayable.
Can’t help but feel like this looks really shit. Much worse that the original one which felt much better
First
So, do you normally give dishonest reviews?
ew the way the cars turn are so very arcadey - this looks like a DS game ported over to PC. Was about to buy - glad I didnt!
Kieran But that’s the point!
