@@timoaks3732 Syracuse is a stretch but a real possibility...they had been vetted years ago to the Big 10 before they invited Rutgers instead. But Boston College?!! Good luck with that one!! More like a candidate for the American Conference. Personally, I'd like to see the American snub them and they have to join their Catholic Basketball Conference. Wake Forest is another one that will be hopeful if they get an invite to the American Conference. But there is always the Sun Belt or C-USA for them. SMU....the American won't take them back unless they get poached and need replacements. Otherwise, it's C-USA or Sun Belt for SMU. Satanford and Berkley? They can go OFFICIALLY JOIN the CCP. NOBODY in the USA wants them!! They can always go play with themselves. They'll just add another letter to their Woke gender identity....LGBTQAM. LOL
And GA Tech LEFT the SEC because they wanted to focus on academics and research not bring in flunkies to win them football games. Unless the SEC offers a FULL payout just like UGA or BAMA get...they'd rather be in the Big 12...but hope for that invite to The AAU Conference.
I think guess Professional College Football Conference realignment is getting to be more fun than watching millionaire kids play for a year then switch up teams ...worse than the current No Fun League!

Missed out on mentioning Louisville. One of the largest teams/TV markets for college athletics in the ACC (even with god awful basketball right now). If the B1G scooped it up and Louisville was able to get on its feet on the court, it would be a huge win for the B1G in expanding market size and starting to have southern expansion without being too far radically south. Honestly could be a such a good move to try and move some of the Kentucky market away from that school in Lexington and directly compete against the SEC.

  • @Greggyou812

I think it ends up with Florida St in the B1G being pair with Clemson (if they just want football), UVA (fits all the academics side of B1G) or Miami (decent school and decent football). Personally think B1G likely goes to UVA or Miami.
There is some talk of a 4 block of teams wanting to go together in UVA, UNC, Clemson and whichever NC school UNC takes along saying they want to move to SEC as a solid block. Which I would see the SEC accepting.
If the 4 block is true, then likely those 4 do end up in the SEC. FSU and probably Miami (outside chance to GA Tech) go to B1G. Then VA Tech, Louisville, Pitt and the left over of Duke/NC St and Miami/GA Tech go to Big12. If Duke isn’t UNC’s +1 then could see them trying for Big12 or going to AAC in football and Big East in everything else.
If the 4 block isn’t true, then B1G I think ends up adding UVA and Florida St. SEC then gets VA Tech, UNC, Clemson and UNC’s +1 or Kansas/WVU. Big12 adds most of the remainders. Wake, Syracuse, and BC likely get left out.

Louisville’s. Only real hope outside of the ACC is the Big 12 and reuniting with their old Big East buddies Cincy and WVU. Which I personally think would be great. I also think that if the ACC did start falling UofL would be an immediate invite for the Big 12, which I’ve always thought they should have been with WVU when they joined.
Louisville is no where near a good enough school and not the national power house of Clemson or Florida State to ignore their academics for the B1G.
For the SEC, they already control all of the state with UK, so their is no need to add in a second team as KY is not a hot bed for recruits. UK itself is already on a large number of TV’s even in Louisville, so it’s not like you are losing that market.

It's all about the TV $, TV will decide most of this. Media mkts are enormous in the desirability of a school and as has been said AAU is the biggest part of it for the Big 10. That money seems to be bigger for schools that are in the Big 10 than AAU for non Big 10 schools. The athletic conference money is minor compared to the AAU money. Ask U. Utah. They said leaving the Pac 12 (9 schools AAU ) and not being invited to Big 10 really hurt because of the research money they would lose even though they keep their AAU status. It wasn't the TV money loss that bothered them near as much as AAU research money loss not being in one of those conferences. There are now three schools in FL that are now AAU. U FL, S. FL, U Miami.
My guess: Miami, U FL, GT, UNC, ND to Big 10, U Nebraska out of Big 10 ( lost their AAU status ) FSU, NC St., VT to SEC. I don't have a feel for UVA. They don't bring a lot to the table that the Big 10 is looking for IMO nor the TV folks and seems to me that if SEC wants the Virginia mkt area they are better off taking VT, seems like a better fit for them. Big 10 already has N. Virginia, DC, Baltimore media mkt with MD. Could there be more to the SEC, possibly. Does SEC or Big 10 want Pittsburgh media mkt, possibly. Big 10 already has Penn State.

Maybe North Carolina for basketball. And whoever misses out on FSU might want Miami as a consolation prize. I don't see Virginia as being a big draw, or NC State. Duke would probably go before them. Virginia Tech has a good fan base I guess.

The Big Ten is not interested in any ACC school unless it can be proved to increase the income of each existing members share of the pie by a significant amount of $$$! The Big Ten is after the big TV markets more than a particular schools current football reputation. They also pride themselves on having strong academic reputations and all existing schools are members of the AAU which has higher recruiting standards than Florida State. As an Alum of a Big Ten school, we already have more than a full schedule of quality teams to play from the East Coast to the West Coast. Trying to expand the schedule further is logistically near impossible and not conducive to the quality of higher education. I could be wrong, but if I were an ACC school, I would look to the SEC as a better fit regionally and academically. I would be surprised if the Big Ten will tear up the current contract which will pay each member upwards of a 100 million annually to take a chance on any ACC school, especially Florida State.

Curious & interesting list: Miami’s biggest issue is failure to put fans in the stands. Outside a Florida State vs Miami game the stadium is empty. Sad but true. Virginia’s record
in football surprised me & North Carolina seems to be like a “Sleeping Beauty” that simply needs to wake up in football. Georgia Tech’s lack of support in Atlanta is deafening, so much so that Florida State ranks 3rd behind the Atlanta Falcons & University of Georgia. Media Markets? Of the previous Power-5 Conferences the ACC has the largest Media Markets. A little known fact about Tallahassee is its population, there are chunks of developed areas that have chosen not to be incorporated into Tallahassee City Limits; approximately, 1/4 million residents + the 90,000+ new students that move to Tallahassee every August with a sizable number staying with opportunities in the State of Florida Government & private contractors supporting the state & feds at hand. FSU, FAMU (a HBCU), and Tallahassee State College (formerly TCC with 25,000+ students).

Trending in your mind! UNC and UVA were vetted years ago by the Big 10...THAT is why that ridiculous Grant of Rights was concocted to keep The Carolina Basketball Conference together. Academic Bluebloods trump football chump change from ESPiN. Personally, I'd rather VA Tech be invited to the B1G over UVA, but either they both go or it's only going to be UVA, maybe?! FSU would be stupid to pass up an invite to The AAU Conference. And whoever they want to bring with them will also get an invite. Either Miami or Clemson? Or maybe GA Tech or UNC? Or VA Tech? But FSU is to the Southeast Atlantic Coast as USC is to the South Leftist Coast. They will be coming with full honors and get to bring whoever they decide. Albeit I think if the second isn't Clemson, they will get a pro-rated pay-out for the first several years. USC brought UCLA as a "local" partner. But UCLA's brand today is barely above Rutgers!! In fact, excluding TV revenue, Rutgers earned more than UCLA. I think Miami would outstrip UCLA as GA Tech would be about as big a brand...especially for the B1G to be in the Atlanta/SEC heart!
WHEN these schools do depart for the B1G, I am sure the SEC will expand its footprint into North Carolina and Virginia marketspace. They may even go as far as West Virginia, and/or add Louisville as an In-state rival for Kentucky and match membership numbers with the B1G Conference. Whatever is left of the Carolina Basketball Conference will either get Big 12 invites or be melded into the American as the "former Big East Basketball Conference."....Come to think of it, is it out of the question for the SEC to increase their membership numbers and footprint by inviting Oklahoma State and/or Kansa/Kansas State? Even Coach Prime? I mean Coach Hype? ...Sorry, I get confused...Colorado?
