Nice project. I hope you recover from shoulder surgery quickly. We used a wooden raised bed but didn't match soil to the vegtables...just used raised bed dirt not sand or more compatible soil. And yields showed this in Houston.
This is not my long-term intention, however, for now, you are correct. We do use a trimmer, and there is a risk of at least dinging up the paint. I am not at all worried about the quality of the metal, as it is tough, but I figure I can sand and touch up paint at the end of the season. On the very back side, which can’t be seen in the video, I planted a row-bed of sweet potatoes, and laid fabric and mulch right up to the vego garden bed. No trimming needed back there. Additionally, in areas where I might need to get too close for comfort with the trimmer, , we just pull by hand, which helps reduce contact. It worked for this season. I’ll probably make a few adjustments for next year.
Beautiful 😊

Your Vego garden beds are sitting on grass-- I assume you all weed eat around the edges of the garden beds?
Does the metal get dinged up? Thank you!
