    I'm super excited Siuan and Moiraine are being played by such accomplished actresses. Ultimate power couple incoming

    I love Siuan. Without spoiling anything, what happens to her in Book 4 was one of the biggest surprises I had in the entire series.

    Loving it. She is quite beautiful. She's also played great roles. Young Siaun is cool to see, as it suggests some good flashbacks. Awesomeness! As for the eyes...yeah Jordan put in interesting things, that are hard or impossible to replicate in real life people. Sure they could give her blue contacts, but its not really very important. I'd only go to that kind of trouble if they wanted the rare look on screen as a novelty. It would look great, but I don't really care.

    I am glad that the actress cast to play older Siuan has the same eye shape (and face shape) as the actress cast to play the younger version of Siuan. The two actresses look as if they are related (like cousins).
    My mistake if I misinterpreted something you said in this video. Members of Ajahs other than Brown also teach novices. You said the Browns were the teachers. I interpreted this statement as you implying that only Brown sisters taught classes in the White Tower.

    While I wasn't that big a fan of NEW SPRING, my favorite element of it was seeing young Siuan and Moiraine's friendship. My guess is that by casting Keira Chansa, they will retell elements of NEW SPRING in a different way. Maybe in this version of events, Siuan and Moiraine grew up together.

    • @Siansonea
      @Siansonea 4 года назад +1

      I don't see how that's possible. I think what we'll see are flashbacks of Siuan's childhood in Tear, and her first arrival at the White Tower as a young novice. Moiraine, a princess of Cairhien, is unlikely to have encountered Siuan until they both came to the Tower. It is the contrast of Siuan's and Moiraine's origins compared to their status as Aes Sedai that is interesting from a storytelling standpoint. Both women actually increased their status. Even a Cairhienin royal is elevated by becoming Aes Sedai, and even a Tairen fisherman's daughter can become Amyrlin.

    • @anydaynow01
      @anydaynow01 4 года назад

      Either that or they will show flashbacks of her since the third person and conversational accounts of her childhood experiences don't really translate well to the screen.

      I loved that relationship in New Spring too! I definitely think it will be New Spring but also expanded flashbacks that might change things up a bit. I agree with other commenters that Siuan and Moiraine won't be shown to grow up together, but I would love to see when they first meet. Maybe they're aging down for that.

    Suian pov in book 4 (keeping it spoiler-free) has a moment where she is thinking back to a time growing up in the Maul (?) of Tear. I won't go into specifics, but when the younger Suian was cast, this is what I immediately thought of.

    If people believe that 'blue eyes' are more important than Oscar-caliber acting, I think we all know what's really going on with those 'fans'. We live in a world where colored contact lenses exist, and digital wizardry along the lines of what was done for Anya Chalotra for The Witcher. We can make eyes whatever color we want, kids.

      @@darthghitza8037 they don't count for nothing, but they aren't that important either. If you think 'fair skin' is more important than Oscar-caliber acting ability, well, you're probably racist.
      Oh, and the show isn't going to fire Sophie because you're mad, so I suggest you get glad in the same pants you got mad in. Or, you know, find some whites-only show to watch. Your choice.

    • @darthghitza8037

      Siansonea Orande I’m not racist in any way. I am complaining equally with the fact that they choose a 5’8 actress to play Moiraine, who is short and should be cast as short. I also am 100% on board with Nynaeve’s casting despite the fact that I always imagined her as white. RJ never described her skin tone and the actress fits the eyes and hair descriptions in the books, so no complains from me. Also, she screams Nynaeve when I look at her. This is not a race thing for me, it’s an accuracy to the books thing. If the books had never described Siuan’s skin tone, then I would not be complaining. When it comes to the Perrin actor, I’m not complaing about his race, but about the fact that he is skinny and shows not signs of getting any buffer since he’s been announced. The guy should look like a bodybuilder.

    • @darthghitza8037
      @darthghitza8037 4 года назад

      Siansonea Orande I also want to add that WOT has enough awesome black characters, like Tuon, Leane, Juilin, etc. that it didn’t even need to do all this woke shit to have a diverse cast. The cast would be diverse enough by just casting what RJ wrote.

      @@darthghitza8037 well, the ship has sailed, Karen. The show is not the books, you can tell because it's not books. This is something new, BASED on the books. And there will be other changes, believe me. So you can get on board the ship (which, as mentioned before, has sailed) or you can just wallow in your butthurtitude. Some of us really like the 'woke' aspect of the show, so I guess you can see yourself out? Run along now, there's a good Karen.

    In regards to the young Siuan casting, while I expect some parts of New Spring to fill out Moiraine's backstory. There's reason to believe the Aes Sedai may be more of a main character than the Emond's Field 5 at the start of the show. There's also internal monologue references to Siuan's childhood on the docks which could very likely be filmed, rather than covered in dialogue.

    • @ReadingthePattern

      For over a decade, when I ponder a WoT show in the style of Game of Thrones, I have this vision for transitions;
      We leave our characters Siuan and Moraine as they are having a discussion where Siaun invokes her fisher person heritage speaking of Silverpike and grunters, nets and fish guts.
      As the scene fades we transition from the people and setting cross fading into an animation of a tapestry being woven. We see a young girl being formed as she casts a net from a boat in this pattern and we see the White Tower woven in in a way that depicts it's position as pinnacle of power. The rise of a girl of humble beginnings to that pinnacle caught and frozen in the tapestry.
      I can also easily extrapolate this for many other characters and situations. My take on the animations at the beginning of Game of Thrones where they show the mechanically rendered fortresses and cities.
      I really wish I had the talent to create what I see in my mind. I can do some things in illustrator and Photoshop but to do this thread by thread weaving would be beyond my ability and would have a LOT of layers!

    Wheel of Time is inherently diverse. To try to implement the diversity in a specific way for the show, in other words make sure that each actor is diverse in the exact way that they are in the novels would be tedious and, in my opinion not worth it.
    I also do not care for forced re imagining of characters in any type of quota or ratio method.
    Representation! We want Representation!
    In my experience, WoT fans, particularly those that are vocal, heavily invested, making money from fandom, monitoring discussion threads, attending conventions and book signings and so on, do lean towards injecting agendas into the story.
    Are they truly fans if they feel such a strong need to change this thing they claim to love? I do not question their love personally but the optics they project and require... I am glad that I do not have to try and make them happy. Literally The Serpent Eating it's own tail.
    Having said all of this, I hold some unpopular opinions. I loved Michael Clarke Duncan as The Kingpin. I do not hate Daredevil as much as so many seem to. I loved Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. There are those that agree with me and those who don't. My day is seldom affected.

      Josha Stradowski is now my Rand, Barney Harris is absolutely my Mat now. Marcus Rutherford is Perrin Aybara.
      Madeleine Madden is my Amyrlin to be the oh so lovely, capable and divisive, Egwene al 'Vere.
      Zoë Robins has not supplanted the Mighty el'Nynaeve ti al'Meara Mandragoran. Not yet anyway but I am pretty sure that she will eventually. That head cannon is as powerful as her character! She is my favorite. I mean Rand is really my favorite but it is neck and neck between the two of them and I really enjoy the arc of their platonic, yet volatile, relationship.

    Is this going to be another should be awesome but ruined by social justice inundation TV shows? I'm not taking any issue with this casting in particular. I don't care if they decided Siuan Sanche should be black if they honestly felt Sophie Okonedo would best play the role, or if Jordan described her in way that at least could be interpreted as black and I just missed it. But I have yet to see any white people casted for a role for the show. Yet, most of the main characters, with the exception of Rand (mixed w/ Aiel), were portrayed as white. I have no problem with the portrayal of any race as a hero or protagonist, but I do care about choosing the best actor for the job and that their race corresponds with the books, and that white people are not discriminated against for SJW pandering. If this is what is happening, I will refuse to watch the show.
