Nice test, I'm looking forward to another watch video. Thanks to the influence of your previous presentations, I just picked up a new Fenix 6x Pro Solar for 399 usd. I really didn't want the solar, but I couldn't pass up the entire package for the price.
so a compact 30watt solar panel is a better option or if you have a a higher wattage panel with you on a trip that might be the best option to just charge a powerbank etc and then the watch
The solar function on the Fenix/Enduro is not designed to charge it, only to slow its discharge rate. This is a worst case scenario situation. If you want a watch that can actually charge using solar, it’s the Instinct 2.
Yeah, they never claimed Fenix Solar can actually gain charge, but I can honestly say that running on sunny days makes a big difference in battery life, it adds up to an extra week sometimes. Instinct 2X is their best solar watch currently probably
It would be interesting to have the device completely empty, unable to turn on, 0% battery life, and leave it in the sun. I wonder if it can charge itself.
According to it's owners manual it's solar charging temp range is "from 0° to 60°C (from 32° to 140°)" and operation range is "From -20º to 45ºC (from -4º to 113ºF)" I don't think either extremes where exceeded here.
I have done enough tests with these with different times, days, combination. I have it posted on Garmin furums as well. Garmin says the watch does not charge with phone switched off. 😊
Can be a life saver in a survival situation.
Very true
love this super straight forward video,
Good test,good to know
Many thanks 😊

Love this channel. Informative and interesting.
Thank you so much great to hear 😊
Thanks for the test 👍🏻
Rest in peace buddy 😢
Thanks for the test!🙏🏼
Pleasure
Great test! Have you tried one more test of it being ON for 6 hours, check the lux hours and restart the watch to see if it charged some?
Buys Rolex for thousands, realizes it not good for much, buys Garmin 😂😂😂😂
What is often on left wrist and where does garmin sit? Right…. Watch my camping videos ;)
@@wildaboutwatches lol first video of yours I've seen....
😅 you'll be enormously lucky if you could find a genuine Rolex watch for thousands. Tens of thousands seems to be the starting point
Did you ever try solar charge from 0% ? I've heard that it's a no-go.
Nope not tried that
No one can compete Casio when it comes to solar power.. but still they are away back on the design & functionality
Exactly
Garmins instinct line sure is trying though
Citizen with eco drive is miles ahead Casio tough solar
Not very impressive gain, I was expecting much more power from that…
My 7X gains about 1% for every 100k lux if battery saving is enabled. It's not a lot but it adds up every day, 1% is a lot on a fenix device

does this have navigation maps?
Yes lots on my channel to help you with this too :) check out talkytoaster mapping
Yeah but I think your over heating your battery in the direct sun
It should survive uk weather ?

Garmin says the watch does not charge with phone switched off. 😊
It by magic gained 4% then
@@wildaboutwatches No I was wrong. It does charge when off.
But lot of ppl have tried different combination and it's not worked.
Good out worked for u
It’s not about this Garmin watch
He like to show the world that he can pay a fake Rolex watch, made in China 😅
You figured it out clever boy 😆 🤣 😂
RUBBISH SOLAR CHARGING
