Noise gates dont cut off frequencies but instead boost any frequencies that are low. Since you have a bassier voice the highs and mids are low so the noise gate will boost those levels which why it doesn't sound natural to you. If you look at the settings from right to left max noise gate (streaming) to No noise gate (tournament) The alternative is that the gate cuts off the mic once the closest sound is no longer picked up tournament has the most cut off and streaming is non existent. People with higher voices might get a natural sound from the streaming setting but those of us with bassier voices will like tournament or home better. BUT if you have a lot of ambient noise that you don't want to be on your videos and want to limit that go tournament for less ambient. Natural sounding vs no background noises are your trade offs. (side note I know "bassier" is not a word.) Great video. loved the detail in the recordings.
They might not be the best fit for you, depending on what you're trying to do. I don't think the mic quality is that good in general, if you're thinking about streaming or making videos. I actually used the Blue Yeti mic over these for recording voice. What would you be using your Astros for, just gaming?
It’s just for gaming and chatting on discord. I have wireless Turtle Beaches currently but really just want a headset that doesn’t make my ears hot 😂😂😂. Like bruh put some AC in the speaker’s because I’m sweating 😅
@@bbones504 oh yeah, the astros a40s are super breathable and airy. they leak a lot of sound without the modkit but you can literally wear them all day comfortably

Hey! Thanks so much for making a comparison video! I've been working on audio settings for both ps4 and obs streaming so this really helps!
The mod kit is well worth it! Thanks for this video. I will go with TR mode. But will try the hone with my mod kit.

👌
Hi man i don't have 10mins to watch it can you please tell me which mode is the best in terms of microphone quality only
My tournament setting still picks up my keyboard. So annoying. And not real aggressive and have the quietest mechanical keyboard. Sigh.
I still think streaming sounds the best yes it picks it up but it's sounds the most like me
I still haven’t committed to astros 🤦♂️
