Thank you Hawkfish Daniels! I'm glad you enjoyed this one. As I said at the start it's one of the amazing thing about this book is there's so many combinations and I'm sure there's alot more hidden treasures to be found! :D

I really like the MP counter charge ability. I played it against my friend who played gloomspite gitz n ended up tabling him turn 3. Combined this with redeploy n you can set up some nice combos.

      Nice one Graham!! :D
It really is one of those abilities where the sky is the limit and those OBR generals who can think a few steps ahead such as you've described here will really benefit from it for sure.
Maybe your counter charges continue to be successful! :)

@Lakey Wargames also Arch Kavalos Zandtos, one of my favorite heros is good at this, with his mortal wounds charging in. Also giving +1 to wound bubble.

@@TheGraham27 Oh for sure!! He is an absolute beast in the new book! :D
Especially when you have Katakros in that same list... All those buffs really add up and make him perfect at clearing out 10 man units on his own or puts a real dent into something stronger. :)

I don’t agree with the MP charge counter strike combo. It says “after an enemy charges.” I know there’s always room for interpretation with “rules as intended” but as you mentioned, thematically it’s supposed to be played as the unit that got charged. Seems like a super sweaty, angle shooting interpretation of the rule to be in your favor.
To each their own but I always play rules conservatively not in my benefit to be safe.

Don't get me wrong Derek I totally agree with you on rules as written vs rules as intended and I agree so much that counter strike thematically is supposed to be used the way you've said. :)
The problem with the actual wording when combined with the MP sub faction is they have the same wording and timing trigger to be used.
So it reads to me as, enemy charges, you pop MP ability as they finish the charge, as soon as you make contact you could burn a CP for counter strike as it's still in that finishing step and you haven't left the enemy charge phase/end of sequence. It's ruled like multiple things happening at start of x phase. This is just as the enemy is finishing up a charge move is all.
But again I can see both sides of the coin. I too at first was very sceptical but the more I read it the more I could see it. Again it's a very bending way but if that's how it can work. It's best to know it so it can be fixed. I think it would definitely be one for the FAQ just to clear it up. Or change it so that they don't have the exact same timing trigger if it isn't supposed to be that way.

@@LakeyWargames Oh yeah, I completely agree that if you were being "that guy," the rules as written would completely allow you to do the combo. It just clearly seems like something that "feels" wrong to me but I understand that's just a personal thing.
      I enjoy your videos though!

For sure! I totally see that perspective and unless fighting at competitive top tables wouldn't probably pull this combo out for just a friendly casual game haha.
Thank you, that means a lot and I'm glad you're enjoying them! :)

Hellooo, thanks for the video! With the mortis praetorians counter charge example, who would fight first please?

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад +1

You would still follow all the normal rules for fighting in turn order. MP is just allowing you to charge out of phase only.
So for example, being the enemies turn. All models with any firsts first rules would go first, then the enemy picks their first unit and you guys would alternate from there as per usual, with anything with fights last having to wait until the end and all other units in combat to have done so.
      I hope this helps! :)

I mean to each their own, but any time multiple units synergise to create a positive effect is "teching" in my book.
Sure it's not as impressive or difficult as the others to pull of but it's still a possible combination of abilities from multiple units put together and one that I haven't heard anyone else mention so might have got missed. ^^
