  • On this video, we install the Pro Circuit Platinum 2 pipe on my KTM 300 XC-W. This is my first stab at an installation tutorial. Let me know what you think and also let me know what other things you'd like to have me cover.

    O rings you installed looked like silicone. Also I use little bit of gasket maker/high temp silicone stops oil leaks bit better at the barrel

    i only have two questions? why go with that pipe hydro_formed knock-off
    instead of hand rolled cone and welded pipe?
    easier to go generic?

    is it necessary to change jetting/carby settings to throw one of these puppys on? or can you get away without it?

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  10 лет назад

      Hi Michael, this won't require any new carb settings. It's really a fun "bolt on" modification. I will say however that if your bike isn't jetted properly with the correct jets and needle/needle position for your altitude, you should work on that right away. I saw MUCH more of a performance increase when I finally figured out my jetting/needle, than when I installed my new pipe and silencer combo. If you jetting is spot on already, put a new pipe on it and you'll be a happy man.

    I absolutely love ktm bikes and my smoker 300exc is my favorite bike ever. With that said I wish they could figure out a way so the pipe doesn't just sit out there like a big set of donkey nuts waiting for a big rock. I know there are guards but I like the look without them. Guess I should just shut up and ride!!!!

    and also looking at fmf gnarly pipes it says the years it fits so like from 94-97 does it really matter as they all look the same or are there subtle changes to the shape of the pipe?

  • @weshyde2423
    @weshyde2423 9 лет назад

    Considering this pipe for my yz250. It has a PC works pipe now love the performance. Problem is I hear people comparing the platinum 2 to the fmf gnarly where as PC website says the plat. 2 has the same performance as the works pipe (which many regard as a top end pipe) kinda conflicting as usual on the net. Any thoughts?? Love the videos by the way keep em coming.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  9 лет назад

      +Wes Hyde I have had both the FMF gnarly and the PC platinum 2. Both of these pipes will bring out your low end and mid range. The FMF Gnarly is very flat on the top end. The PC pipe does a little better on the top end, so it's my pick of the two. The only problem with the PC pipe is that it sticks out further and is easier to dent on the bottom and the side.

    • @weshyde2423
      @weshyde2423 9 лет назад +1

      +Dirt Bike Channel I'm tempted to try the plat 2. The bike has a vforce3, 13 oz FWW, and a PC works pipe w/ 304 shorty. PA single track/ woods and rocky terrain is starting to take a toll on the pipe plus the works finish is a nightmare to keep nice, def want a platinum finish from here out. I would enjoy more low to mid range and from what you say I will get that, I just don't want my top end to go flat. Bike is pretty mind mannered from low to mid currently. The FWW takes a bit of the top end hit away while giving traction the whole time. Engine just revs to the moon with current set up just hate to lose that lol. As a fellow life long dirt biker you understand by dilemma.

      TheEscape2012 If your bike is jetted properly to begin with, these pipes don't effect it enough to need to re-jet.

    i have a 06 yz 250 i just add the pro circuit platinum 2 pipe and its not staying all the way on. i was riding testing it out and all of a sudden the bike cuts off. i noticed the pipe came off from the motor. how do i make it stay

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  8 лет назад

      +Rodriguez Russell sounds like you need new springs or mounts or both. The pipe may be too bent to stay on the bike...

      The pipe has new Springs and o rings and the left side has i little opening. It supposed to be flush up again the frame. The first day i rode it hour or 2 perfect. And today i ride it 4 30 mins and it cuts off heard a lot of air suck in

    do you get very much power in the bottom to mid-range power?, but do you lost much power on the top/end power?,
    i think this exhaust but i don't want to miss/lost all the power on the top/end.
    and i have a 04 250 exc 2t.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  10 лет назад

      Hi Nilsen221, I didn't notice any loss in top end power. The bottom end got a bit stronger, but not much. That is mainly due to the fact that stock KTM pipes are actually made by FMF and are racing pipes to begin with. Overall I like the new pipe a lot better because it sounds a little different and looks much better. The performance difference was not huge, but it's a great add on to any bike. I also ended up putting on the Forrest service spark arrestor from Pro Circuit. I like the entire package and would recommend it to a friend for sure. I got a MUCH bigger boost in performance when I got the carberator correctly set up with the right Carb Jet and Needle for my altitude. I hope that helps.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  8 лет назад +3

      +Pixel Junkie I don't like to let them idle to warm up. That just fills the power valve up with junk. I start it up and take off. Obviously, I ride it very easy and stay off the pipe for a few minutes, but it works great for me that way.

      Generally, they will come with the pipe, but you can also buy them separately. I found some FMF (the type isn't important, it's the size that counts) o-rings on amazon and bought a couple sets of them to have extras around. You can also find them on Rocky Mountain ATV/MC.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  10 лет назад

      Tyler, I don't think you'll need to re-jet your bike. I know that I didn't have to change mine. I will say that having the proper jets/and needles in your carb for your altitude will give you a bigger increase in performance than putting an aftermarket pipe on your bike. You may want to play with jetting after doing your pipe, but if your carb is set up properly, adding pipe won't change that.

      Ian Clark People say/think the darnedest things :) I have multiple pipes and I'm having them fixed all the time from rocky gnarly terrain. Just on Friday, I broke a footpeg right off the bike on a wall hit/hill climb. You want to know the funny thing though? Although I snapped the peg right off the frame, the pipe didn't even get touched. CO isn't the only place in the world with rocks :) Thanks for watching.
