    • @thatguy6919
      @thatguy6919 4 года назад +1

      However Lewis is wrong, the problem is that beer needs to be pressurized to remain carbonated, so beer in a bag would go flat, it would drain just fun.

    • @thatguy6919
      @thatguy6919 4 года назад +1

      To be clearer, the reason why it needs to be pressurized is because otherwise the co2 will dissolve into the liquid and it will lose carbonation at a normal pressure

  • @bsnhaha663
    @bsnhaha663 4 года назад +68

    The main reason why there won’t be beer in a bag is because the thing that keeps drinks carbonated is pressure. CO2 is dissolved in the liquid but in order to dissolve lots the liquid and gas need to be pressurised. When you open a can/ bottle the pressure in the bottle drops to the atmospheric pressure and so some of the gas escapes the liquid as now it can only dissolve less gas. This means that if you use a bag it would have to be able to survive the same internal pressures as a can or bottle but bags normally aren’t as strong as these.

    • @kirrapeterson845
      @kirrapeterson845 4 года назад +14

      I was quite surprised that Lewis couldn't figure this one out seeming as he has a (if I remember correctly) degree in chemistry and that it's quite basic in the terms of equilibriums and pressure.

      You can get it. Just the beer goes flat very fast. Not such a problem with ales.

    • @JBinero
      @JBinero 4 года назад

      It doesn't have to do with the bag being able to cope with the pressure, but the bag, being flexible, would have to be perfectly round to maintain the pressure. If not, it would simply become found, dropping the pressure and releasing the dissolved carbon.
      This means that a bag of fizzy drink would not not only be larger than a botte, but it would not have any properties you'd typically associate with a bag, like being able to deform it. This makes it pretty useless and impractical.

    Pyrion: *just finished story where he says he went through locks*
    Lewis: "so idk if you have ever been through locks, but..."

  • @Bengtssonsan
    @Bengtssonsan 4 года назад +3

    So about Canals and Locks:
    Canals are made to be as flat as possible to reduce the current to a bare minimum, making it easy to travel both ways. Sadly, landscapes are not flat, so Locks are made in order to connect canals at different heights.
    Locks consist of an empty space between two watertight gates. In each gate there is a valve that is used to let water through at a controlled rate. Thuss the empty space can be filled with water until it is level with either the top or bottom canal.
    In order to lift a boat up, you start with a Lock level with the lower canal, let the boat in and close the gate. Then the valves in the upper gate is opened to fill the Lock until level with the upper canal, then you can open the gate.
    The water does all the heavy lifting. It is a great piece of engineering that only became obsolete because trains turned out to be very fast once they were invented.

    You could probably package beer in a bag. The problem is that it would likely be absurdly expensive for a few reasons. One is that you'd have to design a bag that doesn't fail along some grain boundary, as most if not all plastics are notorious for asymmetric strength. So it would probably have to be layered like a composite and may or may not need to be bound. Then you have to deal with transportation, since it's a high pressure object and a thin film, it would be expensive/complicated to transport in such a way that they wouldn't be damaged. After all this, you would have a spherical bag of beer, like a mini keg. But also there is the problem where gases can permeate some plastics slowly (mainly concerning because of the internal pressure). So without some more engineering you could suffer flatness if on the shelves too long.

  • @BennyAtwood
    @BennyAtwood 2 года назад

    A key keg is sort of carbonated beer in a bag, but it's very specialised. You can get ale on a bag no problem.

    You can't use a bag to store carbonated liquids because it would rupture very easily. The reason why cans and bottles don't rupture so easily is because they are cylinders which distribute the pressure more evenly. Ideally it would be stored in a sphere, but they can't be stacked or placed upright as easily

    The reason Tesla is going to be the top company in electric cars is the technology. They're going full in in the research part of electric cars where other companies that already make petrol cars don't really go into the research and development as much as they tend just be "following the trend". Tesla also has a massive advantage in the battery market, they're not only developing new battery technology but they also make their own batteries which is the most expensive part of a car which helps keep the cost down compared to other electric cars and still make a profit. They also have a wide network of chargers in many countries that other companies just don't have.
    Tesla cars are seen as an investment and not just a depreciating asset due to the tech.
    I'm not an expert, so don't quote me on anything, I just find it interesting :)

Because of the pressures of space applied to our generation (millenial) we have had arguments about storage. Keeping Dvd cases is not an option, most of our books are ebooks, we had to throw out half of both our clothes to fit them into the bedroom, we have a fold up small table and the chairs we use for that are also the ones we use for our desk. my gf makes more than the local average and this is what we can afford together. Pyrion, Tesla bought 2.1Tn of assets in the year, they profited but, AS IS NORMAL FOR NEW GROWING BUSINESSES build up their business. Think of the first year a new venture opens for business. ZERO revenue in the first month because it just opened yesterday. Bought ALL the stock, paid all the insurance etc, bought the building. Current operating profit -5million. Over the first year, 1.6 million in revenue, but the loans need to be paid off, so 150k is paid off for THAT and the debt drawn down by 0.4 million, and therefore zero net profit that year, but still in the hole by -4 million. Same next year, and so on for five years. Zero profit, because the debt is being paid down and that comes off the end of year report. But MOST businesses don't do that. The first year they are at -5 million, second year they put 1 million into growing their business so that instead of earning 1.6 million, they can earn 2 million. That means next year they can put 1.5 million in and increase revenue next year to 2.6 million. It is only when they think they have enough to operate fully that they then pay down the debt. And they only do that so they can get better loan rates and borrow more money.
    The bank demands 3-5% but your ROI can be 20%. Borrowing from the bank costs you, makes your profit appear zero, but you are net up 17% of what you borrowed each time you increase your borrowing.

    Pros:
    -best in class car safety ratings
    -tax benefits
    -Instant torque so it has veery quick acceleration
    -no more stopping at gas stations..
    -it can be charged with a 220v at home for great overnight charging
    -software updates that improve the OS, battery life as well as performance.
    -Maintenance is brakes,tires, and windshield washer fluid thats it.. no oil changes nothing Maintenance is every 2 years tops.
    Cons:
    -build quality: especially the aluminum body panels can get damaged easily.. paint chipping, trim not fitting perfectly etc.
    -long trips require half hour downtime and plotting around superchargers
    -no engine noise can be weird and shocking also for enthusiasts like myself I love engine sound so that is a con for me personally.
    -takes some getting used to driving wise, with the kinetic brake charging
