Being a salesman sucks, Sips. The pressure to sell is tough for commissions in jobs that have them (which is the lion's share of the pay) or the pay is crap for those that don't.
In IT it's very rewarding to have a finished product done in time and budget. What isn't rewarding is the consultants promising a bunch that nobody could deliver on in that budget. Working towards something knowing you'll never finish it. This scenario doesn't happen that often anymore. But other causes like budget cuts midway or someone changed their mind and asks if we could make it different somehow near the end of the project still do. Trying to explain that to a customer is horrible.
I definitely get not feeling appreciated at work as I have had a multitude of jobs where this happened. I do feel extremely fortunate though to have an office job where I know that I am appreciated and my hard work or long weekends is very appreciated. I just wanted to say this, not to rub it in to anyone, but to let people know it is out there. You can still have an office job and love it, it just took me 10 years to freaking find it!
Curious -- how do they make you feel appreciated? Just something I'm always curious about, as I can empathize with the feeling of a lack of appreciation, and I'm always looking for ways to change that! If ya can't distill it entirely, don't worry about it, but I'd appreciate any input you have!

Pharmacy student here. Too much fiber gives you diarrhea, that’s why people take it for constipation. Slowly increasing your intake makes you more regular, drastically increasing it, such as that hellish breakfast, throws everything well and off.
I think the guys are selling Peter Molyenux a bit short, he's been involved in some amazing games (Populus, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper, Black and White). He's actually had more issues with making games as technology has improved and more of his crazy ideas have been achievable. A bit like Chris Roberts making Star Citizen he just needs to be restrained a lot to get the best of his ideas into a tangible working thing before trying the crazy stuff
School uniforms do not infact make an equalizer between rich and poor students. When I was in elementry school my state just started to push out uniforms, poor families had to buy used or cheap clothing because they want polos and kakhis for uniforms, and rich students get high quality clothing. Kids are fucking awful, the smallest detail they will mock. I remember hearing the insult "you got your clothes from goodwill."
@@cincinnati4391 Yeah, if children had to wear jumpsuits from the same factory to school there would be a kid talking shit because your jumpsuit has one tiny difference. Like you didn't zip 100%
Maybe because it was new but every experience is different I suppose. In my school people would have blazers that were ripped wide open or seems sewn back together because they can't afford new ones. Nobody cared because uniform is expensive and nobody liked it so people understood spending as little as possible on it.
I love the Pod, I love all 3 of them. Listening to them talk about office jobs and working from home. All well and good. Listening to Pflax talking about sandwich shops having to adapt, for deliveries to homes, again all well and good. I'm a bartender in America at a mom and pop owned live music venue, Our bread and butter is the weekend, live music. We have not been able to have shows since March. I'm terrified to lose my job and I'm also terrified to go into work. I also don't want to find a new job, I like my job. How does a business like ours adapt? I can't deliver live music or liquor to your house. The bars and restaurants are where the office jockies come to blow off steam. Just keep us in mind is I guess what I'm trying to say.
I think they were talking about if people stopped going to work in an office the business's that rely upon their work habits would have to adapt if more people worked from home. People will still go to music venues so your job will be the same once normality is resumed.

Sips description of working in IT is the most accurate accurate in the history of accurate. No offense to these guys, but they often talk about stuff that they don't fully understand, where they're only semi-right. So it surprised me when Sips was bang on the money about the frustrations of working in IT. It literally couldn't be more accurate.
Today I learned that Pyrion has been stealing all the bikes in his area because of his childhood bike attack trauma. And Lewis is back at throwing people in the harbor.
